If you clean carpets with a bucket of soapy water and a mop then "no" not much to talk about, but professional carpet cleaning has a lot to do with chemistry, get it wrong and you could be the owner of a carpet you dont want, and with the additional cost of paying for the new one - and whilst yo can get carpet at £5 a sqm, it can also cost £100 sqm and then some. Sure, you dont need a university degree but you do need something substantial filling the gap between the ears. There are plenty "splash and dash" carpet cleaners around (as per "rip off Britain" or "Rogue Traders"), and you can go to a supermarket and hire a Rug Doctor and soak your carpet in sticky detergent filled carpet cleaning detergent so your carpets get dirty again pretty quick, but I, of course, was talking about professional carpet cleaning where a pro will spend £10,000 - £40,000 on equipment, and invested in quality training, together with effective insurance - BIG difference.

Possibly make the wild cards for next years gp tougher to decide if he doesnt make the top 8.

Amazes me how many personal attacks take place on this forum. I frequent only 4 forums, this, a carpet cleaners forum (just retired from carpet cleaning), a residential park homeowners forum (I live in one), and a Toyota car owners forum (wife and I each have a Yaris), yet this is by far the worse, in fact the other 3 you dont get such personal attack, and certainly on the carpet cleaners forum the mods are bob on and stop things quickly. Its only a forum folks, we can all have an opinion, and lifes to short for petty personal attacks anyway. I will just duck under my desk now!

There was a ride at BV called the "Bobs", it was a big open ride, unlike the Scenic Railway which was partly covered to simulate going into a rock face.. The Scenic Railway was the ride next to the track. Pretty sure the Scenic Railway did not have a brake man but the Bobs did. Never plucked up courage to ride the Bobs, and by comparison to today rides like The Big One at Blackpool it would be considered a mild ride, but went on the Scenic Railway a good few times. I heard that the Bobs was dismantled and taken to the USA when the funfair closed. All though it was the speedway you wen to BV for........ Johnnies marching girls were pretty good too. Someone must remember them.

I would, but I cant speak for the other 39,998 I want to see the top 15 riders (plus a wild card) in the world ride. Sadly, this year, nor last year, are the top riders in the world in the GP's.

I agree, the Hyde Road track was a really good one, but got to say I did see some really boring meetings there and I put that down to lack of track work during the meeting. As a meeting progressed the muck would get shifted to the outside and thus the only racing line appeared to be round the boards, which the braves ones attacked with gusto. Anyone diving for the line, which happened, was like standing still on the base (concrete). Some really fantastic races - I can remember Peter Craven and Ove Fundin, especially in Golden Helmet races, just inches from each other which was very spectacular due to their completely different riding styles. Cyril Maidment was very spectacular too, swooping round the outside going into bend 3 on the last lap just to cut underneath coming out of 4. Split Waterman did similar tactics. Of course the spectacle continued with Soren Sjosten, then Peter Collins and Chris Morton. I was there in 1977 when PC hit that grid with his leg, robbed him of a back to back world championship but what a hero to race the next weekend and do so well. Anyone remember Anthony Jones - a 2nd half rider (never likely to progress) who was about 6' tall, and fell off so much it caused a competition to be organised - "Mark the Spot" where you thought he was going to fall and which lap. A great laugh. The new stadium - yes probably go, especially if they are modelling on Hyde Road track, but Torun would do as well.

The new BV complex is not just a speedway venue, its a sports complex - a multi sports complex, thats why the city council is probably backing the venue, to be involved in providing multi sports facilities for the local community.

That sounds really pathetic. I wonder what the crowd reaction was.

I think I may have only seen THJ ride once maybe twice on Eurosport covering the Swedish league on Tuesday, so cant really comment on how good his is, but winning the Swedish Championship, although it didnt seem to strong a competition even if AJ had rode, but I agree r&r that winning it must be a big plus for a wld card, cause Sweden will need one if none get through from the challenge.

There are many reasons coming to light, including delay in refunds, that will stack up against people making the effort to go to a Latvia GP in Riga should it ever be placed there again. You would have thought the organisers would have the brains to think things through, like how we going to handle the situation if (this happens, or that happens)

Yes I think the new BV will be built, and lets remember the speedway stadium, although a major feature of the site, is just paprt of the whole complex. There are other sports being promoted there which will mean the complex will be use 7 days a week, making an investment in the whole more viable, and soeedway gets a brand new stadium with modern facilities - including toilets (last time I went to a BV meeting was at Hyde Road and so the old time fans will know what I mean)

but, screm, by the rider of that team taking drugs (deliberately or not) may have affected his performance on track. Lets suppose his performance was enhanced, then those points he scored were false and should not be allowed, hence they should be removed. Its tough, but tough punishment has to be meted out as a means of making others be more aware of what they are doing.

Put a sliding roof on it, which will mean a structure all around, more seating, that structure will help deaden the sound, so then you would be able to have unlimited track testing. Simples, four concerns sorted in one go . ie rain, more seats, less sound, more track time. Now whose got the money?

I would have though unlimited track access would be obviously a no no from the start, what with residential houses so near. If they said that either something was going to be in place that eventually was not in the final submission ie more sound deadening measures.

Would it pay for itself with just 6,500?

Whoever put that together deserves a medal, but there again its their job and they get to know whats what. Just one error - I noticed they missed out one house on the list of properties notified. Got to be disappointing that the "national stadium" has a capacity of less then 6,500. But the good news is that Cardiff will still be required for the British GP - no real chance of it being at BV surely

I understand his projected points would put him on 93 (assume your maths is right) and I like MJJ, but he doesnt seem to be "that good", but there again next year he might just make that small improvement that makes all the difference. I hope he does. He does seem to have a good ppersonality. Just glad Andy Murray is not a successful speedway rider, Could well imagine an interview as the winner of a gp would be dead boring.

I have seen some really fantastic races on the grass, but those same riders are just average at speedway. Chris and Dave Baybutt, Gerry Short are typical - champs on the grass. There again, the like of Peter Collins, Chris Morton, Jeremy Doncaster, Simon Wigg and others were spectacular on both, and successful on both.

Fives Danish riders in the GP - would be interesting if they all met in the same race.
