OveFundinFan replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
When AJ is on form I think he is spectacular. Just a pity he cannot hit top form for longer periods then he does. I imagine when he had his good years he would have been like Chris Harris in his good years - good to watch. -
Good to see the "real" Belle Vue track again. I didnt get to see KC much but always nice to see racers having a go. Re the book Tragedy - Kenny Carter, I just finished a book, 12 Years A Slave (recommend it) so tonight I will start on the Tragedy e-book. Let you know my views as I get in to it.

The criticism of Kildemand is creeping in now. I have criticised him very recently and noticed one or two others just mentioning the number of "falls" he is doing of his own accord. And of course Nicky P is having a go as well. -

"All this rubbish about Ward getting rid of Middlo as a part of his team helping him is total garbage. Darcy has made mistakes he made them not Middlo, " Respect your opinion Sidney, but dont agree with it. I am not too keyed up with the relationship between Darcy and Neil only from what i read on here, but particularly when you are young you are influenced by your peers, and if those are giving poor advice then you are likely to follow it and make poor decisions. Equally surround yourself by people with good advice and you likely to make good decisions. It appears who ever has Darcys ear are not doing him any favours. But as you say Darcy has made mistakes, its up to him to sort out his "advisors". -
Top 8 = could change if MJJ and/or possibly AJ hit form Wild Cards = Hampel a cert, Lindback if he keeps his form +2 (wish one was Emil but as it stands he doent want GP's) Top 3 = Pederson (I picked him before the season started), Woffinden, NKI NKI doing alright but if he could find TOP form then he could pick up lots more points per meeting.

Swindon's New Stadium
OveFundinFan replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
"He then stood for parliament & was elected. Have we now served his purpose & he no longer needs us, as if any politician would do that". Ouch ! Thats a bit cynical - but probably right -
Swindon's New Stadium
OveFundinFan replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If its in an legal agreement then the Swindon stadium must be built. Re the houses. It should be in the agreement to any would be purchaser of the houses that there is going to be a speedway stadium "next door" to you and that X times a year during the months of a-b there will be noise, this is expected, and the purchaser agrees to this or they cant purchase the property. Seems logic to me, but there again it probably has no chance of things going that way. Would be a shame to loose Swindon, its been there so long, and there it was tucked out of the way at a relatively quiet Blunsdon, which has now developed somewhat and continues to do so. -
2016 Sgp Swc Calendar & Info's

15000 for a gp stadium IS big enough, surely. Some of the permanent tracks used at the moment are about that size. And 15000 will be possible at the new Belle Vue with temporary stands erected. It might not be big enough if 40000 want to go like Cardiff, but 15000 in stadium, the rest watch on telly. -

Two things were very noticeable last night to me. 1) Nicki had five "clean" rides. He gave opponents room on bend 1, didnt fence anyone nor dive under them and take them out. Well done Nicki - keep it up. 2) I noticed how slick the meeting was run with regard to time. There may have been concern about rain coming back, but why cant all meetings be run last night. -

A worthy winner. Lindback may just have just earned a GP wildcard, assuming he doesnt qualify from the qualifiers Kildemand - getting too obvious now when he lays the bike down he is after a rerun. A few exclusions might sort him out. -
I come back to speedway 3 years ago after an absence of 30 years or so, and I am amazes at the amount of bad accidents - and thats with the air fences. Collar bone problems especially. Assuming the tracks havent changed, what has - the bikes. I suppose at gp level top riders want an advantage over their competitors and therefore tuning to max is probably the order of the day, but at other meetings things may need slowing down, you still get good racing but techniques would be finely tuned, ie throttle control, keeo the wheels in line (as much as possible) etc

73 Years Old Speedway Rider On Track ! Józef Jarmuła Back... Amazing
OveFundinFan replied to Puma23's topic in Years Gone By
Never did get off the grass onto a speedway track. I wish I had gone down to Crewe on one of their open days which allowed grass bikes. I still think about what it must be like on a speedway bike though. -
I've not started it yet and probably wont for a couple more weeks yet. I'm not an avid book reader though I bought one about Simon Wigg and could'nt put it down. Actually, I like reading a book on my tablet more then I do the paper version.

Darcy Ward
OveFundinFan replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is not Hampel worthy of a wild card. In your rush to give Darcy a wild card you forgot someone many would consider as worthy of one. And if the current 3 Aussies qualify by right, do the gp's need a 4th one. -
So have I. and because it was my first use of Amazon books, and because I am using Android (also applies to ios I understand) I got £5 £3 credit towards my next purchase. Credit has a ending date of mid September. Could well be another speedway book being ordered. Edited the credit.

Darcy Ward

I am not punishing Darcy, he committed the offence, he punishes himself. If he hadnt of been stupid enough to go drinking the night before a GP he would have still been in the GP last year and no doubt this year. He was stupid, he pays the price, simple, and its not fair on other riders who are trying their hardest to achieve the sports highest accolade - that of being world champ. True not many attain that goal, but for someone who throws an opportunity away (and that was Ward last year) - do they really deserve being given a "silver spoon" I would love to see Darcy in the GP's, like the majority on here I find him an exciting racer (Note I dont say rider, but racer) but he has done the crime, the penalty of that he has been banned, now he has to earn his place in the top contest in this sport, the GP's. I think the knowledge that he cannot just walk back in and carry on as if nothing happened, and he has to qualify by right, will be a constant reminder that he has to behave himself. Yes, but recently some of them was hijacked posts -

and isnt that what the GP Qualifier wild card is about - giving someone another chance who was already in the qualifiers but had a bad meeting, not someone who was over the alcohol limit -

The consequences of a ban from any sport can be far more reaching then the actual length of the ban. It looks like Darcy has landed on his feet running, if his initial results since returning carry on. He could have well been out of sorts and not performing very well, and depending on an athletes age and bodily "make up" they may never make it back to the level they were or achieve their full potential that was there before. Tough, thats a high price to pay, but they should have thought it out before the misdeamor took place. Same with Darcy. Its disappointing to see a good racer not in the GP's, but ethics cannot be weakened just to bring someone in before others who have played by the rules. -
Darcy Ward
OveFundinFan replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If thats the case, why suspend/ban him in the first place. And lets all agree to £1 be put on every GP seat sold and the money raised go to Emil who says he cant afford to enter the GPs. Nonsense. If anyone wants to "play" the game, they need to abide by the rules. Anyone falling foul of the rules should have fully thought out the consequences before hand - fully thought out -
Darcy Ward
OveFundinFan replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
and if he has to work and earn a GP position on the track, then if he actually wins the world championship that year he is less likely to be criticised by the majority -

For me he's got to do it the hard way - like others have. Dont care if he has "served his time", it was all his fault and no one elses. -

I agree with TWK, he is needed in the GP series, but IMO he has to qualify, any gifting of a wild card would be wrong -

Your reap what you sow, time again this is proved true. Apparantly the fans remembering an incident in 2009 where he (and Chris Holder) trod on the clubs scarf, now they telling him they dont want him. They may change if he continues to score heavily like he did yesterday. I wonder, though, if he gets a bad reaction to his goings on 11 months ago in Latvia. AND I wonder what the reaction would be if Darcy was given a permanent GP wild card for 2016. As a racer, he is definately needed in the GP (like Emil) but I wonder how fans would react if he was picked.
