  1. Take a look at the artists impression on post 491 You will see buildings for other sports facilities. The new site is a sports village, speedway just being one sport. To enable stands or terracing the whole way round trun 1/2 would have meant a smaller track, whch is not what BV wanted. A sacrifice to pay to ensure a larger racing track. Its a shame cause plenty of action on turns 1-2 but also plenty of spectator space rest of the stadium and dont forget for the bigger events like the Speedway WC end of July a stand will be erected on turns 3-4.
  2. Starman, you seem to have a lot of negatives in your mind. I sense there is some jealousy creeping in. If Belle Vue have the nouse to arange for track covers, I am sure they have the nouse to be able to organise them being put down and taken up. I'm expecting that Belle Vue will be such a good success as a racers track that there could well be a clamour from riders to sign on for the 2017 season.
  3. It will look great when finished, that is an "artist impression", last photos I saw show bends 3-4 yet to be finished.
  4. Capacity is expandable. The main start grand stand and the back straight stand are permanant. If you get to see overhead photos of the stadium you will see there is no room on corners1-2 for any ixtures, but corners 3-4 can have temporary stand erected which will increase the capacity. For the SWC end of July that corner 3-4 stand will be erected - or at least it will as we have seats already booked in it.. Think that expansion will take it to something like 10,000, so something less for a "normal" meeting. ps mark.1 typed faster then I did.
  5. Thanks for photos. On the collection ending 89, good action shot with Nigel Boocock, who passed away recently.
  6. Hi New Yorker I too googled Owego speedway and was very suprised to find it actually was speedway as I love. i imagined it was going to be small car racing, but no! it was motorcycle speedway as we have in the UK. You drag yourself to Europe this summer, and bring some of those riders with you. Joe
  7. I remember it was said the new BV track would incorporate some Hyde Road features, but Chris Morton and the BV boss have looked closelyat Torun as well. They obviously want the new BV to be a racers track.
  8. I do hope KK shines bright at the Chris Harris meeting. He is a class rider, why the slump last year, dont know. But a good meeting at the start of the season may see him on hte up again.
  9. Re Nicki - since the Hancock flying tackle I have noticed a change in Nicki, hard but not as dirty as he was before.
  10. Hi New Yorker, and welcome to the forum. During the 2015 GP year there have been many very good races but that one with Zagar, Woffinden, Hancock and Zmarzlik is really good. Re your visit, I would imagine doing all four events is feasible, don't know if many do it. Go to Denmark for the Sunday qualifier, then to Sweden for the Tuesday qualifier to see the US team. If Greg Hancock is on form they should qualify for the final qualifier at Belle Vue Manchester on the Friday night, and stay in Manchester for the final Saturday. The Belle Vue track is brand new - not been raced on yet and is looking good. This link should show you the old Belle Vue track (last season was 2015) in the foreground. The new track is just a few hundred yards above it, and top of the picture and slightly to the right is a large vehicle auction site where the famous Hyde Road stadium was. On that page is a link to other (better) photos of the new track. Enjoy Sorry, I tried to post a link but it wont show. Do a search for....... New Belle Vue National Speedway Stadium ..... should throw up something of interest. Joe
  11. Could it? Fantastic race, close racing for 4 laps from all four riders. Just wish Matei Zagar could consistently race at this level all through the year. He's a clean rider that deserves a world championship and he aint going to get a team of pairs medal so its got to be the individual. www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/4696/sgp-gold-matejs-gorzow-magic if the link doesn't work go to speedwaygp.com, its todays highlight.
  12. Excuse me but I wasnt being rude, I was being practical. The subject was "live" and easy to spot, if one looked for it. Practical in the sense if every one came to the forum and started a new thread instead of a new post the forum would be in a state. Practical because - have you tried to view the forum on a mobile when data download is at a premium. The number of times a one line post is made as a reply to post immediate before it and the post includes the whole of the previous post which may be 5/10/15 lines long. Simply a waste and more so when using a mobile (which I have stopped doing to view this forum because of what I just said).
  13. Am sure a few thousand fans would probably chip in a fiver each to get a Russian team over.
  14. So glad this thread has been updated today, if it hadnt I would probably have missed it altogether.
  15. If that is so then it puts the cat amongst the pigeons - Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Russia going for 3 places. Hope it is true.
  16. There is already a thread covering all of what you ask. Simply look for it.
  17. If you have a spark (and you can check that easy enough) and the timing is set right, it should fire up if the fuel is ok. I would drain the carb of old fuel, replenish with what you have in the gallon tank and see how it goes.
  18. I understand Phil Risings answer, but I don't understand yours
  19. I am in agreement with what you say, but as long as people will pay the rice it will continue to happen. The hotels are "full" on the Saturday GP night in Cardiff, just as they will be for any event be it sporting, pop concert or whatever in any major city. Its not just a Cardiff speedway thing. No doubt if "everyone" shunned the Cardiff city centre hotels and lodged in areas around Cardiff where it is cheaper "today" - they will catch on and raise their prices. You either pay the prices for city centre, move out to quieter areas, or stay at home - we all have the same choices. Having said that, this year I don't have a choice.... wife says we staying at home...... we going to Belle Vue world cup end of July instead. I only live about 30 mile from Belle Vue but looked at staying in a hotel for the Friday night.... no surprise to find the room prices have shot up if you want to be near the stadium...... so we travelling by car both Fri and Sat meetings.
  20. Very poor service from a country such as Poland.
  21. Hotels EVERYWHERE increae prices when there is an event in the locality, the closer you get to the event the dearer it becomes. If you want to stay Cardiff centre then you will pay. Its the same at the end of July for the world team championshop at Belle Vue, hotel rates in the locality go up. Its called supply and demand. Think about moving out of Cardiff. First two years for the Sat night we stayed in Tonypandy, about 30 min north of Cardiff, then on the Sunday night when the event was over we dropped down into Cardiff and stayed at the Quay, very reasonable prices Sunday night.
