Are you really serious in that statement. There were only 2 of the Aussie team in the gp's last year, the best 2 they had (after the sad departure of DW) and he thrashed both of them.

All this talk of 100mbs or even 38mbs broadband making me drool. My broadband runs at 2mbs max, more often then not about 1.2 - 1.5, sometimes lower! -

My thoughts, probably not because they have offered full ticket value to the re-run of the Peter Craven memorial Trophy meeting - option 1. If they had not done option 1 then the situation may have been different. -

And there lies problem. All these social media sites in this modern age cause all sorts of problems, truth can easily be distorted and very quickly its spread over a wide area, as far as global. Its not so many years ago that discussions like taking place on forums would not be taking place. If a meeting like last Saturday would have been called off, that news would have taken days possibly over a week to get around, probably by the likes of Speedway Star or other printed news media. At times modern technology has a lot to answer for, but what would we do without it. -

The fact is they should'nt have said it was until BV said it was off. No defence for them at all -

and what does the weather forecast that you looking at say? Just started raining here near Chester, just about 35 miles from BV and the weather forecast just given in ITV is heavier rain coming later. -

The presumptions and assumptions never cease to flow. It has been said they would monitor things hourly and make a decision Wednesday 9am - not make a statement. Ouch got it right "hope they consult with Wolves, BSPA, and the SCB before making a statement. You should have all given Dave Gordon your personal tel number so he can call you to make sure he gets your approval before he makes a public statement. -

Not worth BV issuing a statement, many have already made minds up, a statement will just add pages and page of forum comments. -
What photos have you seen???

So, will there be any racing at Poole speedway until that hole has been rectified for good. Or will there be different standards accepted by riders, fans, promotors, track curators. Its going to be an interesting season for UK speedway.

The standard for GP tracks was set by riders at the postponed Warsaw GP fiasco last year. After that, all temporary tracks were constructed better - for Cardiff the track building time was extended from the usual one week to two weeks. The standard has now been set by riders for tracks in the UK for 2016. Sounds like more then a few promotors and track curators need to be quaking in their shoes. It should be an interesting year. -
It has been stated the track laying was the responsibility of contractors. Where has it been said the the contractors had no knowledge or experience of laying speedway tracks???. I am in the dark as much as everyone else appears to be, but my mind tells me if I was the contractor with the responsibility to lay the track I would look at the resources I had. If none of those had track laying experience to a high level what would I do - employ some person(s) that had. Too many assumptions going round here from too many people who are not in possession of all the facts of what really was going on through the contract leading up to Saturday night. And if you think BV on Saturday night was a big mess, look at whats happened in Belgium this morning. Last week in Brussels the leader of the attack on Paris last year was arrested. It seems obvious that at least Belgium would put themselves on high alert, expecting some comeback for arresting that guy. But news reports, if true, say Belgium have only now put themselves on high alert. Much more serious then postponement of a speedway meeting.

First let me say how I feel for the fans who travelled long or short distances, spending hard earned money for an evening entertainment. However, This first meeting was never going to be a classic meeting - a new track, riders not used to it etc etc. Obviously there was something wrong with the track (goes without saying). If the problem "was down by the kerb 4th bend, riders could have avoided that area if they wanted, just like they have to avoid ruts in middle of a meeting" then the riders could have put on a show for the sake of the occasion, not "racing" within that section of the track. As someone said in one of the multi threads on this subject - treat it like yellow flags at a F1 meeting ie slow down, no overtaking. By the riders putting n a show, the fans would have had some entertainment for the money and time they put into their evening entertainment, the press would have no "bad news" to report - which the press are good at doing, and the problem could have been sorted out..... like it is now (reports from BV say the corner 3/4 was being worked on today). The problem will be sorted, I am convinced of that, the stadium looks superb, bend 3/4 will be put right, and the racing will be excellent. More then likely the crowds from Saturday night will get tickets for the rearranged meeting and those who don't want to travel probably get their money back. I remember Peter Craven well, and would love to be at his memorial meeting, I may even go to the rearranged meeting and help the numbers there to make up a max attendance. A big major slip up - certainly, and it shouldn't of happened, but lets not forget that this project (the new stadium) has to be a success for the furure of speedway in the UK - that's my opinion anyway. My opinion was there was rider politics going on at Warsaw last year, and I wonder if there is some politics going on here re BV this year. Be sad if there was and I hope my thinking is wrong -
Sgb Statement

Just watched a video that someone posted of the pre meeting practice by riders, this one I think was Nicki P. Maybe he was first on, but the track looked ok. Maybe it cut up as more did there 4 lap practice. Any more videos to add to that? Was any one on here at the meet on Saturday night - sure there will be - what was the track like during the latter stages of the practice ??? Going to be an interesting season of speedway in the UK. From what has been posted on here in the last few months/years some tracks certainly are rough, more then one having resident porholes. The riders have set a standard (at BV) last Saturday - can all promotors in the UK stand up and at least equal that standard??? Thats why it will be an interesting season. Surely, if BV are at an away track and it cuts up equal or worse then BV last Saturdayand BV consider it too dangerous then its meeting off. Any rider contracted to ride at BV last Saturday (but withheld their service due to dangerous track) would have to do the same. That's why it will be an interesting season. -
Only connection that comes to my mind is when the funfair was open at Belle Vue Hyde Road track, after the speedway meeting go into the funfair free and there was a wall of death show. Guy Martin, motor cycle road racer, has a TV series at the moment and I saw only last week a trailer of his programs and wall of death ride was one of them. It was a hugh wall he was going to ride, much bigger in diameter then I remember BVs to be. edited - I just googled wall of death and Guy Martin show with the largest wall of death ever seen is live on easter monday March 28th 7:15pm on Channel4 The "wall" will be 120' in diameter - Guy Martin is going for a world record.

If the track needs drying out- how are they going to do that? This may be completely stupid idea because I don't know how the machine works, but you know when they strip the top surface tarmac off a road they have a device that seems to melt the road surface. Must be some heat generated, maybe too much I don't know, but if too muich may be a way to reduce the heat. Just a suggestion, may be crazy, I don't know..

Its Warsaw 2015 all over again. The track at Warsaw was cutting up but some riders proved it was not only rideable but raceable. But some disagreed and shouted the loudest. But who were the riders who wanted that meeting stopped? I dont recall reading who was on the side for it to be stopped and who was for it to carry on. Main difference between Warsaw and Belle Vue was the starting gate fiasco, and that should not have stopped the meeting cause the alternative light system was in the rules. Of course its not good for a track to cut up, but I feel the riders have got to take a good look at themselves once again. It was never going to be a classis meeting tonight, my previous posts have referred back to Bristol in 1977, the difference being the riders at Bristol put on a show for the supporters that have travelled, some many miles. Tonight if that track was rideable as Chris Harris said, the riders have let the fans down. The track needs to be ridden, it is new, and has to be ridden to find the "weak" points so these can be worked on. -

Even though Emil is not in the GP's at the moent, my opinion is that he is as good as Tai. In 2013 he was neck and neck in the world championship, but mid season Emil lost his father which musy have affected his mental attitude, and all credit to him for riding through it positively. But then that horrific crash that put him out for the rest of the year. That was one of the most horrific crashes I have seen, and it one time there ws a questio whether he woud ride competatively again never mind get to the top like he has done. And he has got to the top again IMO, I know being Euro Champ is not the same as being World Champ, but he has stiff competition - not only other GP riders like Perderson...... but just remember how posters on here rate the Lagutas, Vaculik and Lindback, and in the SEC he s against them through the Euro Championship. On the other hand, again posters on here have said Tai has had a "easy" time in the GP's. OK Greg has been consistant, to a lesser extent Nicki has, but Holder - injuries, Iversen - injuries, Darcy - ban, Zagar - inconsistent, others - more inconsistent. I think I am right in saying Emil said when he comes back to GP's it would be by qualification..... which means unless he qualifies this year then it will be 2018 before we see him in the GP's. I have no problem with him getting a wild card. -
At the Belle Vue final at the end of July, it would be really nice if they ot Ove Fundin to present the trophy to the winners, after all the trophy is named after him, but also Ove rode for Belle Vue back in 1967, and also gave us so much pleasure him riding Hyde Road track against the late Peter Craven so many times. Be nice to see Ove do a lap of honour sat astride a JAP engine machine like he used to ride so well. C'mon the FIM and Belle Vue - get it organised.
