Swedish Elitserien 2016, Round 3
OveFundinFan replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Actually, I am thinking whats on Eurosport this year, one hour, is much better then the last couple years where all the meeting was televised, tractor grading as well, plus all the return to pits gate after a false start etc. Now its seems more slick, and I get to see what i tuned in for, the racing. I assumed those missing heats at the beginning (I didnt even notice missed heats) was down to those races being gate and win, as a lot of early heats can be ie Warsaw on Saturday. Sure, I can imagine switching the times of the showing is changing week by week can be more then a little annoying, and can matter a lot to some people, I just got the sky box (through which I watch Eurosport, to "record series" and come Wednesday evening I can watch an hour of speedway. -
But is he going to get a chance/ If Jarek is back at Horsen then thats going to stop ff for a while and may take the wind out of his sails. Lindgren is taking points off the Poles at the moment, Jarek will ride to stop that I reckon.

No mention of Emil though, presume they assuming he will still not be fit. Any news about his injuries? -
Re Cardiff v Warsaw. I thought if they pulled the straights in at Cardiff that would make the turns tighter but wider - meaning different lines on the corners available. The track though would be shorter if they measure on the white line or metre from white line, whatever it will be shorter and therefore may not meet FIM standards. Edit - added "may" near the end of last sentence.

You say Holder is in 3 leagues, so is Tai, but NKI is in 4, that's the point I was making, 4 is perhaps one too many.

For those who follow Moto GP, only a few years back there was Marco Simoncelli in the big class, just on the brink of regularly challenging the top riders. He had a good mop of hair to tuck into his helmet with a bit sticking out. Sadly he came off on a corner, stuck with his bike, hit by another rider, and his helmet came off, didn't recover consciousness and sadly dies at the side of the track. Its rare to see a properly fitted helmet come off. I just wonder whether the heavy layer of hair compressed at some point, allowing the neck strap to come off. Never heard the official cause of death, but always in my mind is that what occurred. Whatever, another young talent gone.

I agree with woz01, the farce re the dates of the semis clashing with a GP is irresponsible. OK if there were no other dates available in which case the brits in the GP should have direct route to the final. If the dates could have been a different time to avoid a clash with GP, ten the person who sanctioned the dates should be relieved of his/her duties. A shambles

With Tai being near the top of the championship table and NKI 3rd from the bottom, maybe Tai has it right and giving UK a rest to concentrate on 3 leagues and less travelling to seek his quest of being world champ, whilst NKI has chosen to do 4 leagues, which he admits in the past drained him, but hes chosen to go back to it.

May not by you, but he is by me. Just imagine if Emil and Darcy were in this years series it would be even more electric. Sadly we wont see Darcy making a return, but I would welcome back Emil tomorrow.

for the benefit of all foru readers..... please explain how you did that foc -
Turned out to be a fantastic race track (after a bit of a slow start). Dont know why the ref called back first AJ, then Nicki's fast gating - just perfect starts to me. The poles are 4 very young riders who just need more experience before they hit the top. Janowski is probably the more mature at the moment. It will come to them. Well, Freddies doing great things with that engine, took it to a higher level then CH last year. Freddie choosing gate1 in the semi - no problem with that, Hancock won his fro it. I just wonder if Freddie tweaked his bike from heat 20 setting. In the semi, he dropped the clutch and it just seemed to dig deep rather then go forward, and he reared up more then a couple of times in the race. May be set it too sprightly, who knows? Will be a shame to see Freddie drop out again, he's on it this year. I reckon Hample will be back next meeting fit or not, if necessary they will lift him on and off his bike and let him tootle round for 4 laps, anything just to keep fast Freddie taking more points away from the other three Poles. I'm not even going to mention CH dropping out so Freddie can continue to entertain us - Oops, I just did.

June 27th Berwick - Warrington Having lived in Warrington for 41 years, moving only 5 years ago, I got quite excited about Warrington having a speedway team........ but then realised it possibly mean t to be Workington

Its nice that Harris is well liked by British fans due partially to the way he supports Friday UK racing instead of practice for a GP However, 15 others, plus 2 reserves, seem to turn up for practice, and they also must know track conditions change from practice to race day.....yet they still turn up, all through the 12 (or 11 as this year) GP's. I not a massive Tai fan, but admire his commitment to being world champ, that's what you need to be at the top in any professional sport - commitment in every aspect to be the best. CH says he wants to be world champ, wonderful, but then lacks commitment by not giving everything needed, and that includes mental attitude as well as physical commitment.
-
and Chris Harris has drawn 11 and he wasn't at practice.
-
Obviously Chris Harris takes the view it is important to fulfil his commitment in the UK and miss so many GP practices - as he seems to have done, yet again, this time in Warsaw. If he missed a GP practice and the next day puts in a fantastic performance in a the GP, at least getting to the semis regularly, and win an odd GP - then great. But he doesnt. He misses practice then next day gets 2 - 5 points in the GP. To me, that is a lack of committment to the GP and his self proclaimed ambition to be world champ. He can forget that, and realistically, he may as well drop out from the GP's as from now, in fact he should have done that a few years ago, and let one of the younger upshots have a chance - someone who will put in full committment.

and for NL matches its £10 £10 and £10 for Terrace, Grandstand, Premium Grandstand and the program is £2 (EL is £3) -
Bargain as you say, Noodles, at £25 for to meetings but I wouldnt have got the wife to go if I had mentioned we would be standing for a good 2.5 hours. No problem back in the 60's/70's back at Hyde Road, but now we in our 60's, fast approaching 70's it would be a no no. Plenty of room in the temporary east stand bend 3-4 though one section (in the middle of the bend) has sold out I see. Hope the weather is good on the Fri and Sat as the east stand has no cover (temporary stand)

Its been said - hes on holiday, cant the man have an holiday, hes been through a stressful time in the last few weeks - he'll be back. A lot was said against Dave Gordon/Chris Morton a few weeks back when the reportedly the contractors messed things up, I would like to give them some praise on the design of the track. Its reported they spent time going to various tracks across Europe, and keeping in mind the Hyde Road track, and came up with whats now being raced on, and getting positive reviews from posters on here. So, well done Dave and Chris -
