  1. working ok for me but 1 heat in 20 minutes and counting......... agree the pole in blue should have been excluded.... he just kept taking Riss out more and more till he was fenced.
  2. Gavan, what's the point of being British champion and getting no reward for it, yet you don't support King to be in the team.... see your post #86
  3. Sometimes you have to be bold and make decisions others may not. I have seen Poland use their youngsters in top class meetings and the youngsters ride to good effect. Let uk do the same with Lambert. Make sure he has a bike times and set up correctly, give him the chance, and of he takes it then his confidence will be at 110%, which will give him a boost for the future and also boost other uk youngsters who will see the opportunity is there for them also. Lambert in the team for me.
  4. That sounds dramatic "Pedersen took Woffinden off", Pedersen lost control and Woffinden was caught up in Pedersen crash. All rather slow motion stuff, and you couldn't blame Worry for taking his time in getting up for the rerun.
  5. Yes I was replying to Norbold when he asked about Ron Johnston. I knew him as a New Zealander, and Wilipedia lists him as a New Zealander, born in Dundedin. Sadly passed away in 2014. Actually he didn't have too bad a record in the world finals 1955 12th, 1957 6th, 1958 8th and 1960 5th. He was good around Hyde Road, usually guaranteed a good race from him. Well known in the pit area for his flashy American cars, think I can remember a Studebaker.
  6. Do you mean Ron Johnston the tall New Zealander who rode for BV in the 50's early 60's - if so, he was a good rider but IMO not in the same class as those already mentioned.
  7. Thumbs up there (I am on hols and using tablet and can't use any thumbs up, smilies etc)
  8. So scot0311, where is it better for Robert to be..... number 1-4 getting all due rides OR... at reserve and very likely getting no rides.???
  9. Your dead right star lady. My health and safety would be in danger if I suggested to the wife she was to sit in a folding chair for 3 hours. Ear drums would be the first to suffer.
  10. Would the Queen sit on a folding chair? I am taking the wife you know!
  11. £27.50 is indeed a good price for 2 meetings, Steve, but Danny said he needs a seat due to medical reasons so the west stand (first bend) is out for him. I think I paid 40 - 45 pound for the two meetings sat in the temporary east stand.
  12. Obviously depends what value you put on viewing a world championship final with top riders in the world present, and importantly, on a track that has limited capacity (as do all regular tracks in the uk), so costs have to be met from a smaller crowd. On the positive side - Belle Vue National Speedway Stadium has the best race track and the best spectator facilities in the UK, and its still to be finished!
  13. Good shout there screen. Our tickets on bend 3-4 shows £5 for the semi on the Friday evening. They obviously dangling a carrot on Friday to get a good crowd, but it does offer excellent value for money.
  14. I do expect that to be the case Starman. I noticed at Danish gp last weekend the seats on bend 3-4 were temporary and not covered.
  15. As I wouldn't pay that price I cannot defend it's pricing, however, there is a relative few grandstand seats so I suppose it's a case of supply and demand and so the seller can justify to put the price at a higher level. The buyer has a choice - pay it or not pay it. Seats cheaper in the temporary stand on bend 3-4, that's where we are.
  16. Dont Forget there will be temporary seating erected on bend 3-4 for that weekend, works out more affordable then the main stand but whilst it's seating I don't know if it's undercover so we will be taking our umbrellas - to keep the sun off us!!!
  17. Personally, I would be pleasantly surprised if UK finishes anything but 4th. They may get third if I need team has a really bad night. So, give the young ones a chance of experiencing a big night. Robert in the team and another under 21 at reserve. If Robert is reserve there is every chance he won't get a ride, apart from having to be under 21, the reserve can only replace a team member if they get injured and can't ride - as determined by a doctor.
  18. Do you realise, shockster, that Lambert, a very talented rider, is unlikely to get a ride from reserve? The rules state reserve can only replace an injured rider, not used to replace a rider not doing too well.
  19. All I have seen is the you tube posted on here showing the last few races including the final. What I saw there was Danny King not just win the final but win by a mile, which included a well executed pass on Cook. I cannot see how a performance like that can be ignored by the team selector, wet track or not.
  20. Orlov. You mention earlier S Worral as reserve for the wtc final. Think someone said he is 24, the wtc res has to be an under 21, so Worrall can't be reserve.
  21. Defo I would have Lambert in the team, along with tonight's winner King, home track rider Cook and of course Tai. Reserve would have to be an under 21, I don't know the contenders but Adam Ellis seems favoured by a few. So Woffinden King Cook Lambert Re.Ellis Sorry no Chris Harris, if he ridden BV three times this year already and not got the hang of it then it's a big ask for the wtc team.
  22. Last week it was pretty hot up here, whilst the news was showing flash floods in London with cars submerged up to their roofs.
