  1. It may well be but not according to Discovery+ Upcoming events both last night and this morning.
  2. Why not just pay £60 for 12 months discovery+ then you can watch all the GPs plus some British premiership club racing plus loads of other sports inc BSB and world Superbikes. That’s £5 per month, no hassle wondering you going to get a free stream or not. Probably wasting £5 per month on something else.
  3. There is potential for 4 new faces each year, 3 from Challenge, 1 from SEC. Majority of riders need more than the first year to get accustomed to the commitment needed at GP level. GPRacing is not league, it is much higher and much more intense. So my opinion is there is enough potential, need to be careful the series is not weakened by too many changes all at the same time.
  4. Ok, re your last statement. You name 2 riders who were in last years Challenge final in Glasgow that should be riding in this years GPs instead of Lambert and Fricke......that is do better than Lambert and Fricke.
  5. The winner of last years GPChallenge is riding in this years GP series, that’s what you want. Are you sure he should be there? I agree with the GPChallenge, but does it always throw up the best rider for a 10 meeting long GP series. Riding at GP level is different to riding in any league. So much mental commitment as well as other resources needed in abundance. Vaculik dropped out of GP series for a bout 4 years (if I recall correctly) so to “mature”as a rider. Lambert was in the GPs as the SEC champion, dropped out of the GPs, came back last year, from series reserve, a different (more mature) rider. Sometime human judgement is better than statistics ie league averages. It must be a headache for those that have to decide and this discussion we having now takes place every year…….just seems to have started earlier this year.
  6. What rider would stick is nose out and say “I’m going to make the top 6” and therefore not enter the qualifier for the next year. None. So you going to have a qualifier with 15 of the current riders which ends up being the same as a GP meeting of which they already done 10 in the season, and only room for 1 “fresh” name in the qualifier. Me thinks that needs more thought.
  7. I paid £60 for the year to watch Discovery+, already I have received my monies worth….. 3 GP’s, and 1 GP2. Plus just today I watched a World Superbikes race, championship bmx racing, and mountain bike down hill championship. Tuesday evening I watched Mondays Wolves v BV match. And there is so much more to come. That’s hard to beat.
  8. Didn’t think I would ever say this but….. I enjoying the racing tonight (and last night) at Marketa stadium. I would really like Vaculik to have the ultimate success. He can fly, no doubt about it but….he hesitates when wanting to have a go at passing where the most successful go for it if they think there is a fair chance of doing it. Dudek is another that also does the same.
  9. That was not a bad meeting. With Marketa stadium reputation I was expecting a lot worse. Rew and Roe tailed off a bit at the end, shame really. How come round 1 of GP2 has taken over the thread for round 2 scheduled for two weeks time?
  10. What is your definition of “some of the regularGP riders”, as in some kicked out, some left in?
  11. Sunday night I watched the gp highlights on Discovery+. One hour program and they covered majority of the races. It confirmed my thinking from Saturday night live….. it was a very good gp, plenty of racing, full of thrills. And now comes Prague………
  12. I not a Jack fan but he was robbed tonight, shame. Whilst in the past most were applauding Zmarzliks genius, I always reckoned he was verging on wreckless. For two years he has had an easy passage, put under pressure, like tonight, and the wreckless Zmarzlik might come to the surface and be more noticeable. I just hope none of his opponents get injured. If it’s Freddie that is going to take it to Zmarzlik then I am happy with that. Even more so if Freddie come out as winner. He deserves it, always a trier. But he needs some backup. Disappointed with Leon Madsen. I know he been carrying a back injury last couple years. If he has had surgery maybe it’s not worked and it’s affecting his performance.
  13. He has won 50% of his GP rides, best statistic of all the field.
  14. Looks like you can pay by 3 monthly instalments, equates to slightly more than a one off payment.
  15. Wembley management ditched the speedway track back in the 1980’s, so now they need extra income. Why would speedway want to go back there.? It was never a great race track. Maybe plenty good races but not great ones. Cardiff is a stadium within the city with all its attractions on hand ie eating places, drinking, hotels etc, everything really that Wembley doesn’t have in abundance. Don’t tell me hotel prices in Cardiff are too expensive, they shoot up because speedway is on. Every where in the UK does that. Whenever a pop star arrives in town/city up shoots the hotel prices. Liverpool is a current example….Eurovision final is next weekend. A hotel room price shot up overnight as soon as the date was set. Arguably the best race track in the UK, maybe the world, is Belle Vue. When Chris Morton was involved in its initial design he consulted Peter Collins. His advice was “have a curve on the straight. Apparently Hyde Road had curved straights and so does the National Speedway stadium, and it provides great racing. The old Wembley speedway track was pretty bland, would a “new” track be any different? Wembley may provide a buzz of excitement for the older fans who can remember the excitement of Wembley with 60000-80000 fans, but I don’t believe the number of fans in todays speedway era would get anywhere near the lower number of 60k, and after the first few years the crowd numbers will drop when reality sets in. Elle Vue would be the track that will produce real racing. The winner of a GP at BV will know they had to work hard to get that win. A problem stopping BV being on the GP circuit is it’s limited attendance of less than 10000. I prepared to watch it all live on tv or a stream. A stream at £25 for a world final GP round would be a bargain. Even so, there would be moaners on here that wouldn’t want to pay £25, they want it free. Well, a trip to Wembley for two would be in excess of 10 times that amount, as Cardiff is today for many, so don’t think for one minute Wembley live would be cheap entertainment.
  16. “Only the blank” is much appreciated. Can’t do an individual meeting without a race card, I am ok missing a team race card.
  17. Really good to see the creation of a new track. Like to think we will see more of it as progress is made.
  18. Looking at the scores it would seem non of BV riders were happy with the track. I not followed this topic through, but was the track raceable at the start? Maybe Dan has April 29th on his mind, knowing he needs a good start to take on Zmarzlick. k
  19. I watched BSN Peter Craven Memorial match sat on my settee with a 14” laptop on my knee, set of Bluetooth ear plugs, no problem at all. I paid BSN to watch 3 weeks ago, so Monday evening I went to BSN website, signed in, and away I was. Being the laptop was on my knee meant it was something like watching a 32” tv sat in the corner of the room. Good picture, good sound. Wife was sat in an armchair watching her program on tv, with my set of ear buds in meant I didn’t here the main tv and she didn’t hear speedway.
  20. Well, crowds are depleted at British speedway, we all acknowledge that. Many have said speedway needs to be a show to attract younger ones to come and see a show, not just to see 22 minutes of racing (15 if it’s a league match). BV did something last night to give more value for money. Introduced riders to the crowds via passengers on Harley Davidsons and at the start line up. Chase the Ace always works had. The whole meeting was very slickly run (no delays), a 5 rider semi, and a 6 rider final. I think that was pretty good show from BV, yet there is criticism. Anyone with some positive critisism ? Something that promotors can do to make a live meeting more attractive on a regular basis, but not costing a fortune.
  21. A very good meeting, plenty of exciting racing even if it wasn’t for a race win. The meeting was very slick too. I like the 5 rider semi, and the 6 rider final Only thing there I would change is make the 5 rider semi 5 laps, and the 6 rider final 6 laps. I like the presentation of the final….. finalist coming out as passengers on big bikes, and then being able to chose their own gate. Overall presentation was better than GP presentations, IMO. Well done Belle Vue, and thanks to ALL the riders for making a great meeting. 22 races with very good competitive racing., in 2.5 hours. If every speedway meeting was held as good as that, presentation and racing, then maybe speedway in the uk could start attracting sponsors and crowds. And thank you to BSN for streaming the meeting. Quality I found to be very good, and the presenters/interviewers were all professional. Well done BSN
  22. You could still pay and watch, it should be available for a few weeks yet I reckon.
