  1. I enjoy watching Milik, doing well these days.... shows how competition can bring on a prospect. Same with Leo Madson, caught mu eye a few years ago as a wild card for a GP - now you could see him in the GPs full time.... and flourish hopefully. and the last two SEC rounds, both won by Greg Laguta.... great stuff.
  2. A successful UK athlete doesnt do too bad..... just look at the sponsorship for the successful ones....... true that on the way up it can be a struggle, but thats the same in any sport, but more is being poured into the Olympic sports probably then ever before. Perhaps England football team should have bigger incentive money wise then they might do better in the world cup etc (that was tongue in cheek)
  3. and at !pm on Saturday, before the viewing of The Euro Champ from Togliatti, there is the highlights of the last round from Daugavpils, hopefully they will have highlights of the WHOLE meeting this time.
  4. Been to Cardiff in 2013/14/15 and would go again, but would'nt go to London
  5. Any one know what the official attendance was for Saturdauy night/Sunday morning? It didnt look hugh - maybe 7000? If thats the case - could the UK take another GP? Say at Belle Vue with its extra stand taking crowd up to 9k-10k - it would be a sell out, and TV viewing would be great.....full stadium and great racing. Belle Vue GP would have to be in the dryer part of the season......(thats a problem) ...... perhaps June/july with Cardiff moving earlier/later? Would it be a goer?
  6. Another very good meeting and all the more surprising considering the rain pelting down on Saturday night. Greg won handsomely.... and a lead of 12 will take some catching. just shows you need to be consistent and get to at the least the semi and preferably the final.....points make prizes. dirty Nicki at it again, and Lindgren is not far behind him. Sadly, I think AJ's GP days are numbered. In fact I wonder which Swede will be in the GP next year. Maybe Lindback, but even whilst Freddie is doing alright not exactly setting the meetings on fire. And Zagar as well, we know what he can do, but he is so inconsistent its unbelievable.
  7. It was stated the local airport says the rain will be back 2pm Sunday, hence the morning meeting.
  8. You know Rob, thats a real tough statement you put out there....... but it sounds about right to me.
  9. Usually larger tracks Bikes have gears (probably 2), brakes, and suspension (front probably same as speedway but rear has single or double hydraulic springing). Usually a few riders per race, I have been in 10-12 rider race at club level, but this quality meeting (British Masters) may have 6, especially the final. No fence usually (temporary tracks), inside and outside of track will have flag markers, some way back from these on the outside there will be a rope system, and another rope system further back then that. Dont know what the exact format of the British asters will be but can be 250 class, 350, 500's and sidecars (spectacular). Some meetings will have a class for veterans, for bikes older then a certain age, upright engines only etc. A class meeting like British Masters will be very exciting.
  10. It might be in the rules but its a complete farce. Feel sorry for the rider who has to move aside to make way for TW, the rider(s) who has supported the team all year.
  11. I agree screm, but there has not been any announcement at all as to what is intended. Strange
  12. Maybe he will achieve the heights he was at, but personally, I think he will find it difficult, very difficult getting their quickly. If I was him I would be tempted to forget about the gps this year and just concentrate on racing in "normal" matches.
  13. Really good meeting on Saturday - don't know how many tracks Latvia has, but that one is a cracker. After Emils first ride I though he was out of contention, but he got the points to lead the championship. Where Nicki is going I don't know. At this rate he could loose sponsorship and his living in Monte Carlo curtailed.
  14. Laugh a minute at times this forum is. I ask a straight forward question and get a silly answer. Someone must have been on too much ginger beer Saturday night. Has Hampel ridden in any competitive meetings yet???
  15. Has Hampel done any competitive meetings yet?? Although I suppose he is entitled to go back in the GPs when he is fir to ride, I would hate to see him come back if he is going to be half lap behind. And lets face it, his comeback is going to ave to be spectacular if he is to qualify for next ear.... unless he gets another wild card. Just a shame he had such a bad accident that he didnt cause or be involved in the thick of the action.
  16. 2 viewings this evening - fortly there is highlights of first round from Gustrow, then the 2nd round live from Daugpavpills
  17. More then likely loose viewers if foul language was flying around. Even Tai cleaned up his vocabulary when being interviewed after the world cup. See - it can be done.
  18. Yep, I am happy with what they add to the program.
  19. I'm all for giving recognised speedway nations a go at the final, but with the system as it is where the host nation go straight to the final I wouldnt like to see it go to Latvia, Croatia, Slovakia, Italy or even Czech and Germany. I would say its Sweden next, then Poland, Denmark and then uk again.
  20. I appreciate gating is more then just reaction time, but reaction time is important. I remember many years ago (actually 52 years ago) there was a slot machine that tested reactions. Drop a penny *that's an old penny) in a slot, it would be held there then drop. You had to press a button to stop it dropping all the way to the bottom. If the penny dropped all the way you lost it, if you stopped it you got a free go. Machine always won as there was no way the machine gave the penny back to you, just a free go. I suppose a penny in todays money might be 10p. Point of it all was.... it was a reaction test, how fast was your reaction to stop the penny dropping. That day 52 years ago I beat the machine a good few times. The machine was on a stopping point (some café) on the way from Manchester to London by coach. The purpose of the journey... I was a member of Belle Vue Gladiators going to Raines Park cycle speedway track for the National Junior Team Championship (which we lost by 2 points) followed by the National Junior Individual Championship.... which I won with 4 straight wins from the gate (reaction time) and a third in last heat when I only needed a third. If Robert Lambert could get hold of such a machine and preen his reaction time I am sure that would help him gate better.
  21. Interesting post Iris123. i didnt have a clue what was/is going on in Poland.
  22. Has someone moved Europe to the other side of the world? Last time I looked on Google Earth europe was still about 30 miles away.
