  1. I hope the GP Challenge is allocated to Belle Vue. If not the Under 21 WC would be nice at BV
  2. For the 200th GP I would have expected something different then a track in the middle of nowhere that has a reputation of not being a racers track. I have only heard Smolinski say something nice about it, and I suppose he has to.
  3. I watched it on BT Sport 1 last night. Good meeting. Dudek as unbeaten was impressive, but Nicoli Coviatti I thought was particularly good with some aggressive racing, just didnt get enough points. Smolinski did well, just one race let him down badly, but he was coming from the back in couple races. Robert Lambert was gating reasonably well, maybe his engines were not good enough or just the ocassion got to him, but he was the youngest at 18 in the line up.
  4. Pity Hancock and Doyle meet in their first rides. First few heats anywhere dont normally provide the best of races.
  5. One of the benefits of Lambert being a poor gater is that he will learn how to race from the back. If he was a brilliant gater now, where would he get his experience from to come from the back. Hopefully he will get better at his gating, but for now it just might benefit him to learn to race and pass.
  6. Twins obviously - and the parents could'nt tell them apart so gave them the same name.
  7. I was just thinking "its about the time AJ starts moving a bit to get the points or impress for a wild card", seem to do it most years, but after reading about his injuries its not going to happen this year.
  8. Keeping the 3-2-1 points for the GP final gives an incentive for all four to race to the flag. However I do have some support that each of the finalists should gain something over those that have not got to the final, and 3-2-1 doesnt give that.
  9. A computer chip could be used that would vary the timing between the minimum and maximum times. Gets rid of a person being predictable.
  10. Except in those averages - the months of June and July where NKI was top of the list and JD second. Thats ....er....2 months out of 3 NKI ahead of JD
  11. Tend to agree with what you said Gavan. I dont think Emils temperament is a problem. What I DONT see just recently with Emil is a happy chirpy fellow like he used to be. Either he is still carrying an injury or hes not happy with something - maybe that his management have advised him away from the SGP's and he realising he should have been in it over the "missing" years ie 2014-15-16 and possibly 2017..
  12. Either or both of the Lagutas at their very best would be good for the GP's, but they dont seem consistent enough. I know Vaculick has qualified, but hes another one that cant seem to string consistent performances together.
  13. Do they get given their GB race suit, or do they have to pay for them and therefore own them.
  14. Good to see Hampel riding so well. I think Batchelors confidence was wrecked with Darcys accident last year - gone downhill since then.
  15. Obviously your favorite rider Tai Woffinden and B B B B B B Bomber ! What an excellent opportunity
  16. Perhaps TW doesn't doesn't feel there is a need to put the matter to bed once and for all. Perhaps he doesn't give two hoots as to what is being said (over and over again) on a forum. This thread is now on post 673 and, basically, the same things are being said over and over again. its like an old 78rpm record stuck in a grove by a bit of dirt (for younger ones read "an old 45rpm record"-for younger ones still... I'd be surprised if any younger ones on this forum).
  17. Re Jerzy Szczakiel - the track could well be set up to suit a certain rider/s but the rider still has to perform. He may have rode the best he has ever ridden in that world final but he did perform very well. i read in one of the books about Mauger how good he rates Szczakiel, and it was good. Yes he didnt perform well at Wembley shortly after becoming world champ but a) Wembley was not an easy track for communist country riders to get to grip with, especially on their first visit. I understand he was carrying an injury. I was their at Wembley and was one of those who booed him (much younger then, wouldnt do it now), but hey, he has got one over me - he is a world champion of a fantastic sport that I never even had a go at, and if I had would probably have not succeeded even getting into a team, so hats off to Jerzy Szczakiel.
  18. Interesting post dazzaf, but I am one thats not going to respond to its general content re Tai. What I did find interesting (and sad) is your quote.... "i once thought this forum used to be great but now its splattered with some decent posts but in general its rubbish and people calling each other trolls and calling people out as liars.." Totally agree with you, and the indications are that you and I are not alone on this thought. I do look at the forum during a day, probably too much, but dont reply as much as I did for the very reasons you stated.
  19. Are you sure you talking about 2016? Cant agree with you "would be the worst rider to win the WC for years", nor probably the most average GP line up ever".
  20. On what grounds could he get into the Team Aussie?
  21. I agree with diamond ernie, Brits could fill the BV stadium alone (even with the extended temp seating), the poles could possibly fill the stadium for a SGP, then you have danes, swedes germans, aussies, etc etc that get the crowd up to the 40k+ that you get at Cardiff. Add the fact Cadiff is (almost) guaranteed to run due to the roof, and it makes BV very much in line for SWC (as this year), speedway challange (as per next weekend in Sweden), under 21 world championship, etc. BV is a wonderful track, maybe if ever a 2nd SGP round in the UK and it would get the nod, but as a replacement for Cardiff - IMO it doesnt match up. Shame really because as a race track it beats Cardiff totally.
  22. and maybe Tai and whoever he has fallen out with have, quiet independently, come to the conclusion its no business of anyone else but them to know the ins and outs and pass judgement. Already this thread gone to 409 posts, will it reach 1000? - very possible.
