2017 Grand Prix Venues
OveFundinFan replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree with the above post. There is more excitement in one very good speedway gp race then in the whole of a F1 season. Mark Webber was at Melbourne speedway gp this year. Anyone get his thoughts on what he was watching??? -
Issue 76 - Peter Collins, 1976, Hackney Moments, Hollingworth
OveFundinFan replied to TonyMac's topic in Backtrack Magazine
I was there that fternoon in Katowice when PC won the world title - and this article in Backtrack brought all my memories back - great article, great magazine, I look forward to receiving every copy. PC's races in Katowice 1976 are to be found on You Tube, fantastic races, especially when he chased, caught and passed Malc Simmons after having to get past John Louis, an amazing effort.- 1 reply

Maybe a few less will travel from Europe next year. Why bother going all those miles at a great expense only to see a newly crowned world champions with a reputation (prior to this year) of being squeaky clean throw a race (the looking behind and very wide lines gave it away), then come up with an excuse (taking no responsibility) and throwing toys out of the pram and refusing to ride in front of a crowd who were there to see all 18 riders actually race for their points. I used to like GH, but following non appearance at the WTC BV and then this, its all gone.

Wildcards 2017.....
OveFundinFan replied to Panthers89's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
but there has to a doubt if Hampels condition post injury will allow him to regain that level of racing again. Who knows? but its a gamble to put himin 2017 as a wild card as he may not perform at that level. It was sad he missed out this year especially as he was not the cause of the accident that took him out. Same with Doyle this year. -
A really good meeting with plenty of excitement watching how the race for the top 8 unfolded and for the two medals and the 3 riders going for them. All of this was spoilt by the Hancock affair, and his withdrawl from the meeting is shocking action and one I hope is taken further by the appropriate authorities..... and not just a fine.

Wildcards 2017.....
OveFundinFan replied to Panthers89's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Wild cards - Nicki, Zagar, Emil, and I would like to see Milik in there but doubt it. If not Milik then Janowski. -
Are you jesting? Might be 9am first race for uk viewers but what time is that in Melbourne?

Nicki Pedersen Injured.
OveFundinFan replied to foamfence's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think it was Miedzinski that dumped Emil into the fence when Emil got the bad injuries on 2013. Bad bit of work is he. -
Good to hear Lemon is thought a lot of, just that some negative statements about Monday night.

How about the manager going. Didn't manage Australia too well in the WTC in July, and judging from the comments on here he didn't manage BV too well Monday at Wolves. I like Zagar when he is on song, but it's too patchy for what he costs, so maybe him out.

Poole Sign Lindback
OveFundinFan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I walked in last night, saw the news on this forum that Poole had brought in a GP rider to replace a non GP rider and was very annoyed. Upon reflection - nothing, absolutely nothing that has been said on this forum has changed my mind. As I said last night - it might be in the rules but its not right. Not blaming Lindback obviously, not in a way Matt Ford/Poole (although I was waiting for something to happen as the play offs came near), so the blames goes to those making the rules, along with those who approved of them, and those that apply them. I have seen Hans ride a few times this year, and obviously seen Lindback in all the GPs, and to say they can be classed so similar that AL can replace HA is just so illogical. Same with Tai replacing Joonas at Wolves. I know Kylymacorpi is a long track world champ, but that not a speedway world champ, there is a difference. I have missed just over 30 years of speedway after being a strong BV Hyde Rd fan from the late50's. Went once to the greyhound track and then quit, started watching GPs in 2013 on telly and live at Cardiff, went to the new BV NSS for the Fri/Sat world cup and loved it. I was thinking next year to start going to BV again, as when I could afford it - but not now, British speedway is in serious problems...... virtually all of you have been saying that all year on this forum....and I come to agree. This farcical episode, together with Tai returning to Wolves at a critical point of the season just doesnt dwell easy with me and I am not putting my money where I dont think I am going to get a value of enjoyment for it. Those who are influencing and making decisions re British speedway need there heads banging together, and sort this mess out now. Someone suggested earlier in this thread that as long as punters keep going through the gate of stadiums, paying good money, nothing will change much. Well here is one that was thinking of going back to the sport I love, but nah! not whilst the situation is as it is. -

Starman....I did mention in my post - Woffy/Wolves.... do keep up. -
Poole Sign Lindback
OveFundinFan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sorry, but I said it before .....but I am going to say it again........ it might be in the rules but its not right. The man has not ridden for a UK team in 10 years and he comes back just for the play offs. Speedway in the UK is certainly at a low to allow this sort of thing to happen - no matter which team is involved. Same with Woffy at Wolverhampton. Same with you get riders whose team is in the palyoffs guesting for other teams that re in the playoffs. Where is the sense in all this. I know not every one will agree with me on these points, but fire away...... water off a ducks back to me. -

Belle Vue V Poole Elb 12/09/16 Sky Meeting
OveFundinFan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
commentating, imo, is an art, certainly not as easy as many would think. for those criticising, next time speedway on telly try doing a commentary yourself for 15 to 22 heats and all the in between bits as well. Record it and then play back to yourself, please dont put it on the forum. -
Woffinden's Language.
OveFundinFan replied to superclamp's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Now you know the subject bores you, no need to look again. Simples - just go away See, the point can be put over without foul language. Times may have changed, but it doesnt mean everyone approves it nor accepts it. If you just accept "times have changed" goodness knows what the future is going to bring. I dont think so, not in Tai's case. -
Woffinden's Language.
OveFundinFan replied to superclamp's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would rather they just stop interviewing him for a few GPs (and any one else that uses same language on camera), they would soon learn, after maybe their sponsors question why their "man" is not fully promoting their product. Then give him a chance to show he learned to clean up, but if he "slips" up during an interview just curtail it. He does seem to have cleaned up since the Cardiff debacle, if he swore on Saturday night at Teterow then I didnt hear it, mainly because I mentally turn off when he being interviewed. A good rider, but I dont like his personality. I wonder if Tai uses that language in front of his partner, or doesny mind others using that language in front of his partner.? If he does object to foul language being used in front of his partner, then why does he think its ok to swear in front of my wife (when she watching). All through the olympics from Rio I watched a lot of the sport, paticularly in the velodrome. All the young Brits being interviewed and I didnt hear any foul words at all - and they were putting in as much effort as speedway riders do. -
Teterow 2016
OveFundinFan replied to uk_martin's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Better meeting then I expected, as it turned out there were more then a few good races. Disappointed in Zagars form. Zmarzlick needs a "Nicki" doing on him, he can be a dirty rider. I think during the meeting Lindback realised he better get a move on, hes in danger of dropping out the top 8, Nickis gaining on him. Good to see NKI hitting some sort of form, but can he do it at the next GP, then the next then the last one. Very worthy winner in Doyle, and I hope he wins the championship.
