Belle Vue National Stadium
OveFundinFan replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think the NSS cme from MCC wanting the title. The stadium is part of a project on the east side of Manchester promoting sport. Man City Etiad stadium is only couple miles away - as is the National Velodrome and I think there is another "National" sport event closer to the NSS, cant remember what it is though. -
How can BT offer you BT Sport when you havnt got BT TV. Surely to get BT Sport on an active Sky box you have to go through Sky. Have you not thought of ditching Sky and getting a BT TV box - its cheaper I think.
-
I dont see anything wrong at all watching speedway on the TV. If no one paid Sky/BT/Eurosport the fees they charge then there would be no funds going to British speedway - its what British speedway does with the money they receive from the TV businesses that really matters.
-
I cancelled my Sky subscription which did not include Sky Sport (so no Britiish league speedway) but could watch BT Sport via Sky through paying Plusnet (my b/band supplier) £10 per month for those months I wanted to watch GP's. I was paying Sky £49pm for TV viewing, plus my tel/b-band package through Plusnet of £28pm - so £77pm plus another £10pm when GP season on. My Plusnet contract finishes in 2 months so I will be free (for the first time in a long time) to choose who I want and maybe a tel/b-band/tv package and BT is top of the list. I reckon at the moment with the deals on, could get from BT - tel/fast b-band (56mb/s)/tv box for £60 but for 1st 12 months reduced to around £42 plus a £125 preloaded onto a mastercard. You need to know what usgae you have on broadband. The above figures are for 25gb download per month. Im currently using 12gb-23gb depending what I download obviously. That could increase depending on usage with a fast b-band available but up to 100gb download is about £8 per month more.

Now got the link, need to read through again.

Seeing as DG/Cm were at one time to keep there nose out of MCC/ISG affairs I find that story hard to believe at this point in time. -
Sky paid £10million per league match - surely thats not correct, is it???
-
The link is not working for me. Interesting twist.

As MCC and BV had an agreement, BV would put the loss assessor claim to MCC. I would assume as the claim was the result of negligence (or whatever) of ISG then MCC would put a stop on the payment to ISG iie Pay Less Notice.

When the fullness of that report comes to light it could be very damming on the council. They probably knew of the REAL problem because of the loading tickets submitted by the contractor to the council, as part of conditions of contract, thus they have brought in the correct QUANTITY of material to the track. Those same tickets would probably identify WHAT the material was as well. If this is the case then BV would have no idea that rubbish was being dumped on the track (contractor not under their control) but Man City Council would. That £696,000 that the council stopped from payments to contractor is the exact amount loss assessors showed as the monetary loss to the BV business. If that money had gone to BV, as I believe it should, then the BV story would have been a success story rather then a tragic story. I would say that £690,000 is due payable to DG/CM business. They could then pay off whoever they owe money to. Lets face it, yes the public who paid to see the opening meeting accumulated losses, but DG/CM lost their means of making a living, and seeing their dream that they battled for over the previous 10 years. They are left with nothing, except the abuse the got from this forum, when now it is becoming clearer as to what happened. Edit. What I now looking forward to is the input BSPA/SCB had in the undoing of BV speedway during 2016 ie going behind the back of DG/CM Lots more truth to come out yet I am sure.....will we see it?

I missed the leg trailing of old (I started going s/way early 60's) but saw couple demos at BV, looks spectacular. Photo above (from Iris) looks a lot like Peter Craven used to ride, except he kept his right leg on the foot rest.

Correct, (as EE is as well) and one reason I went with Plusnet. But £10 per month is pretty good....but you do need an active account with Sky. You dont get the same as BT though, they keep the business separate. For example - I am on very slow b/band, 1.2mbps and the same was quoted by all the copper wire suppliers. That is until earlier this year when I visited the Openreach website and saw my post code was now with fibre b/band. I contacted Plusnet but nothing available for offer. Go to BT website and it says I can get fast fibre b/band. One of the Openreach guys working round my area says BT will probably keep it to themselves for the first 6 months. So I got 10 weeks before I can jump ship from Plusnet (contract ends) to BT, by which time maybe Plusnet will be able to offer fibre b/band, but now I dont have an active Sky account, will be interesting.

I'm on my pc

Cant view it Phillip, says only viewable with ios devices ie Apple.
-
If you go with Plusnet for b-band/tel you can, through an active Sky box, get BT Sport for £10pm on a monthly contract. I did it last year. So all the GP's cost me total of £70 in total.
-
OK, so the feeling is BT are not good on customer service. So to be able to watch BT Sport (GP's and seemingly Premiership speedway) how, without Sky, do I get access to all the speedway action. ??????????? I understand Eurosport will be doing the Euro speedway championship, so I need that as well.
-
Last year I was with Sky (£49pm) but not Sky Sport. I was also with Plusnet for tel/b-band (£27pm), paid an extra £10pm (monthly contract) for access to BT Sport to get the speedway GP's (and also Moto GP).... so that was £86pm !!!!!! Thats a lot of money..... too much. End of Jan'17 I quit Sky (now watch Freesat thro the Sky box with the same Sky card in-not as many channels [no Eurosport]) Mid May my Plusnet contract ends, so free to get Tel/B-Band/TV package and I was thinking going to BT. Anyone with any dealings with BT ie customer service, content of TV package etc.??????? BT had some deals recently where BT Sport was free until July'17 - anyone know how much it would be after that (presumably a normal price)?????? What makes making a new contract even better is that up till now my b/band speed has been 1.2mb/s but from Openreach website my postcode shows I am up not only fibre b/band but high speed b/band. Not interested in fantastically high sppeds as I dont download films (and it comes at a price) but after 1.2 for the last 6 years anything in double figures would do me....20mb/s would be nice

Again, this forum is sadly lacking a thumbs down button. You would have just got one from me.

Wow! Another club bites the dust. Losing any club is a sad day but a club of Coventrys history is virtually unthinkable, as was the thought of losing BV. All through the years of me being a keen spedway fan, that is the 60's and 70's, through the "missing" years when I "left" the sport, to coming back in 2013, Coventry has always been there. I really do hope there is a future for Coventry speedway, and that future surfaces soon. So sorry for all you bees fans.

You and others of your ilk dont seem to catch on very easy. Have you not read Speedway Star dated February 18, 2017 ???? On page 6 of the SS, 3rd full paragraph up from the bottom of the third column, Dave Gordon is quoted as saying "In the weeks leading up to the grand opening the weather was'nt good and we were struggling to get the shale on turn three and four to bind together while the rest of the track was in perfect condition". To me, and no doubt others, the situation is clear - there was a problem on turn 3 and 4 - and it is Philip Risings article that states it. So which part of Philip Risings report do you not understand?? Rhetorical question. 2016 has ended, most are trying to move on, try it. I sincerely hope BV have a successful season, exceeding the hopes and plans of the new management.
-
My thinking is.... the important thing to do is to talk to both sides, which order doesnt matter - its the fact finding exercise that is important. Has it been stated that BC did have talks with BV, or was it one sided.????
-
"Back of the envelope calculations" - what more do you want thats not already been printed/said. BV engaged Loss Assessors who reported damage to the BV business of £696,782 pounds (hardly a figure you would make up to scribble on the back of an envelope), and this figure must have been accepted by MCC because they deducted it from their payment to ISG Construction. Just sit back and think what that £696,782 would do for BV......... IF MCC had paid it to BV, having deducted it from ICG payments, maybe then BV would have been able to formally pay MCC the rent - but it appears MCC kept it back, all £696,782 which is much more then rent. As PRising has said, if ICG had built turn 3-4 to the correct specification (as the rest of the track) then highly likely BV would not be in the mess it is. Head, banging, wall comes to mind.
-
Thats how understand it. having laid out £350,000 on the stadium on the lead up to the opening meeting, BV promoters needed matches at home to generate income. The cancelled PC Mem meeting cost promoters money, then a run of home meetings cancelled meant more income lost, whilst away matches played costing the promoters more money. The die was set, playing catch up was too difficult. The loss assessors calculated the loss of business amounted to £696,782, a sum MCC didnt pay to ICG, neither did it pay to the BV promoters it appears, if they had then things may well have been very different.

Truly is time to move on but some are a "bit" stubborn to do that. I try one more time and the last time. Quote from Dave Gordon in the SS... "in the week leading up to the opening event the weather was dry but cold and eventually the track showed signs of reacting positively to all the preparation work and the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) inspectors, Graham Reeve and Alan Bridget, made two visits during the week and the track was tested during daytime and signed off and officially certified by the SCB on March 18" Note 2 inspectors from SCB signed the track off and officially certified it as such. A problem was known, but no one knew what the problem was.....the real problem was hidden, only to be revealed fully when the track was done up. Initially it was thought bend 3-4 was not settled as much as the other parts of the track as bends 3-4 were the last to be completed. As to finance... DG says "we had spent and committed £350k in the immediate run-up to the stadium opening on track and stadium equipment, stadium systems and IT" I presume that is part of the £500k that the new promotors are having to pay now. Is there anything there that the doubters/questioners dont understand. If not, then lets move on..
