has anyone else noticed the brown and white 'rye house speedway' sign has gone from the A414 westbound off slip? is this a sign that there is no hope at all of speedway at rye house?

even boxhall over doyle!!!
-
just to clear up one point i hear constantly, len silver did not pick doyle over boxhall. len made it clear that doyle was only in for the injured boxhall and as soon as he was fit boxhall would be back in the team. now like everyone i wanted doyley to stay but len stuck to his word and he should be given credit for that.

agree, the moto x track in the centre is a joke. £18.00 for 15 mins racing is already very poor value for money so i want to see all of the bike on all of the track all of the time, not 4 crash helmets wizzing along the back straight!
-
excellent idea. best 2 wheeled racing i have ever seen was the yamaha pro am series in the 80's. riders drew a number from a hat for a standard bike and engine supplied by yamaha , close exciting racing and the best rider won not the one with the most money!

yes i think the mx track will slow the paramedics and track staff reaching a fallen rider, it is hard enough for the paramedics carrying heavy bags across a flat centre green so what now, decide if it is quicker to run around the track or scrabble over the mx humps??

i am a regular at the bike meets at the ace cafe and high beech and when i talk to other bikers about rye house speedway the response is always the same 'i didn't know it was still going'
-
also the noise on a sunday evening will not go down well with the local residents and we all know it only takes one complaint to start the ball rolling even though the track was there before the flats and houses

looked like eddie kennett was not happy with his 2 motorbikes, watching him in the pits he went from one bike to the other then back again. -

just harmless banter which gave people around a laugh. good win with some great racing, bandit fans clapped the rockets on the parade truck always nice to see -

also i think half the problem is that people do not know there is speedway at a track not too far away. the sport needs to attract new fans from petrol head types who will enjoy the racing. i give out the rye house leaflets at many motorcycle meets including high beech and people always say 'i did'nt know it was still going' a bit of marketing is needed. -
agree with you about bunyan. in a heat he was due out in last night the 2 minutes were on and he was just walking back to the pits with no sense of urgency still to put his helmet and gloves on!

well said crescent girl, at this level there is not much if any return on the riders investment in the bikes etc yet they still come back for more each week! i am glad they do and that we have speedway at rye house every year. -

the track staff give up their spare time and do not get paid, if you can do better you could always put yourself forward for a role! -

yes i agree with you about chris what i meant was i don't think he was ever public enemy number 1! on a wider note what i am trying to say is that the riders are spending huge amounts of money on engines, ( a grand for a service!) vans, diesel, oil etc and thats without blown engine repairs, helmets, body armour, tyres, boots time off work etc. some are losing money to race speedway so i don't think slating riders and the promotion helps the club when the alternative is paying out big money for a season or two, then it folds so then no speedway at rye house at all. some improvements can be made of course, but we need to be positive and help the club any way we can. -

IT is the die hards that will keep the rockets alive so that others can come along and have a moan about the riders and mr.silver! -
Rye House V Somerset 7th June

a sense of perspective is needed here i think. after 30 odd years of watching and following motorcycle road racing and its descent into a boring 2 wheeled F1 i discovered speedway at rye house in 2006 and have only missed a few meeting since. i think we should be thankful that mr.silver and his team run rye house within a budget and we have speedway to watch at a friendly club every week! moaning, insults and voting with your feet will not help. please remember that most of the riders are not highly paid pro's and some have day jobs. i have been riding motorcycles on and off road for 37 years and there is no way i could do what these lads do or i suspect could the moaners on this forum. speedway is the purest form of motorcycle racing, it is not football!!! in bike racing if it can go wrong it will go wrong so i think everyone should just enjoy the meetings win or lose and admire the skill and bravery of all the riders.
