Agree about Newport, crap hole & Cardiff, the capital of Wales & NOT a Michelin star restaurant in the City! -
Mauger was a bit special around Hyde Road!

Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 8/3/15
sommelier replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Nice to hear it was a good crowd, thanks for the detailed report. I've been to many meetings over the yers when its been a one sided score, but also good racing -
I first watched Mark ride in 87 at Hackney, yep even from back then i followed him with great interest. Was at Pfaffenhofen in 92 when he had the run off with Leigh Adams, was at Exeter the night he got the track record (think that still stands ?) was at Bydgoszcz in 2000 when he was World champion. Best ever fom the back, one could argue all day long, but he is right up ther. Joe Screen, Collins, Morton, even Olsen in the early 70s was memorable from the back. Most talented, for me personally, i've been lucky, fortunate enough, call it what you may, but watched Gollob ALL over Poland, i used to make every home match to Ipswich to watch him ride! For me no one better from the back than Gollob. Yes i rate Ward very very highly. I was screaming to people in 2010 about Nick Moriss saying he must be a potential world champion, good but not as good as i thought he would be. I started the topic this year on Lambert, & not everyone agreed with me, but now EVERY one is talking about him! But for me ther is one rider, if he continues improving the way he is, IMO will go on to be better than ALL i've mentioned is Brady Kurtz!

Ok, but mate you aint mentioned the new up & coming who i think is better than all of um!!!

sommelier replied to hyderd's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The one rider i would love to be there for the opening is Alan Wilkinson, was there that night in 1978 against Swindon when he had his accident. Come on Belle Vue, move heaven & earth to get him there -
Yep, i agree with you, IMO at 16 ONLY emil better than Lee
-
Yep at 16 Lee was on another planet, but been lucky enough to watch Gollob all over Poland, mate when he was on it, he was O so good!
-
Big Ward fan, Big Loram fan, but natural talent, Gollob for me every time!

I'm sure that track gets smaller evey year, reminds me of Crayford. Kept waiting for Laurie Etheridge to come out!
