Not sure if it is the case here but certainly not unknown for Polish clubs to call the shots and riders reliability / attendance to suffer..... -
Wood in great form comes up against Clegg who is non too shabby recently either so should be worth the admission there. Smith hasn't settled this season yet but is no chump and Morley knows his way round Monmore. Halsey & Harris should have the bettering of their opposite numbers whilst the IOW reserves look more potent by being steady and Davies looking like he would struggle to win a raffle at present. The great predicto say "Cradley win but IOW take a point" (which means its likely to be anything other than that outcome).

Birmingham Brummies 2019
Sings4Speedway replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yup. Now full story released to confirm. Morris & Hume at reserve looks pretty useful , much tougher ask for the new guy Agertoft and not just to get the spelling right. Hopefully he can tuck in at number 2 for the first couple of meetings to help him find his feet. -
He took a ride in the 2nd half at Mildenhall yesterday and looked decent enough then withdrew with mechanical issues. Certainly enough talent on the bike but needs to put some investment into his kit but thats why he is sensibly turning down full time places at the moment (although Kent could resolve that for him).

Certainly makes a strong reserve pairing, bit hard on Stoneman and explains why he was over trying at Mildenhall yesterday. Glad to see Danyon fixed up though and taken a bit too long in my opinion. -
Sheffield Vs Somerset 30th June Championship
Sings4Speedway replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Quite frankly im as disappointed with the Somerset promotion as i am with Schein. Wright kicked up a stink before and got the boot. Same should have happened to Rory, no rider is bigger than Speedway. -
Rotten luck for Tom especially as he had a nasty back injury not that long ago either. One of Speedways nice guys, incredibly professional and a slow burner towards the top if he could keep injury free.

I stand corrected i was told the meeting started at 7.15 and wrongly thought that was tapes up time and not the actual 7pm start time. I guess most clubs stall a little when riders are running late even if it was Chris Widman who was reported to be more determined when riding last night. 2 hours isn't exactly a brisk pace but is easier to take on a warm sunny evening compared to a chilly one.

Reports fro the Island was that the meeting started on time despite being delayed. The warm weather and lack of shale will always mean more regular track work is required, RR always slows things down and from accounts the ref wasn't banging the 2 mins on with any consistency. Despite all this the racing was good and dust wasn't shocking. In the end Kent just travelled with one rider too few as the 4 man team just didn't quite have enough for the in depth Warriors. Plus always good to see a rider i rate as out of form (Wirtzfeld) going out and scoring 8+3 so what do i know.

Edwards is as good as Jenkins is disappointing round Smallbrook. I was expecting Richard Andrews but booking Edwards shows Kents intent this year along with a respect for the opposition.

Big ask for the warriors tonight as Rowe & Edwards have previously shown a strong liking for the Island and Kemp is no slouch. The home heat leaders can't afford any slip ups of mechanical gremlins if this is to remain a contest. The reserves could settle it but an out of sorts Wirtzfeld & King have home advantage over the improving Clouting and fading Warrior Sealey (who i confess i thought was higher than a 2.00 average and ineligible to guest?) removed as i suspect that was just in my head but still a poor choice and bet James Laker is cheesed off. There are as many good reasons as bad why this might be a close run meeting for both sides. Hopefully the crowd and the Nl wins out in the end.

Jack was caught in no mans land with the 2 point CL incentive and the reduction of NL team building limit. As a rider who is relatively short on experience compared to many it was a big ask to continue his advancement without the regular sharpness & confidence a NL place would have brought. Whilst the weekend home team must have been appealing along with greatly reduced travel a patchy fixture list can struggle to keep the interest of a rider of his age. Sometimes things can come too easy and the desire starts to fade when things get tough. Jacks a good lad though and i wish him well whatever he chooses to do.

Stepping down is the same as withholding his services and hence a 28 day ban awaits.

David Wallinger Ludicrous situation.

15 years is a fair amount of time range of those listed above only Fricke, Michelsen & Milik if you had included are stepping onto the world stage in the past 5 years. Don't forget that the original point was the merit of the NDL and not what riders have been "produced" in the UK as the issues hindering the progression to world level is far greater than one league (but that wasn't your original point). Could it not be argued that any rider who raced in the UK had benefited from it and helped them achieve world level status was produced by the UK? Oh and Darcy did alright in the UK National League. -

No my point was that its not particular clubs or leagues that can claim they made world level rider sits the whole picture. By your reckoning every country should get rid of its lower level leagues and just run the top league? If you take away the poles which other nation has generated any world level riders in the same time frame? The NDL cannot ensure that riders hits the heights of "world level" it can only act as a platform to provide the opportunities. Will Bewley, Palin, Flint, Bickley, Rowe, Atkins, the Thompsons achieve it who knows but its not a bad place to start out. -

Its a certainty that there will be rain in Wimbledon fortnight, need to get the thing banned so we can have a decent summer. Plus 50,000 balls and 2 tonnes of whipped cream....not an event i plan on attending....ever -

I suspect there was a little Congo fear causing quietness -
Another tremendous gesture by the Eastbourne promotion, leading the way once again. However Jon Cook is still scum in my view.

Takes deep breath.....when was the last time any league produced a "truly world class rider"? The top riders come from the dedication of themselves, family & friends who pu in all the dirty work both at the start and throughout their careers. Then add in a mixture of fortune, fitness and opportunities opening up at the right times. Add one heck of a big pinch of finances and you have the recipe for a "potential" world class rider. Any club who claims to have produced a world beater is blinkered and ignorant, clubs and leagues all however provide vital stepping stones in riders progress. It could be argued that the NDL like every other league contributes to every riders success due to its very existence. -
Nope average too high plus i have zero idea if Hopwood is interested in riding still as there have been no signs of him. IF a temp signing was needed i suspect it would be Tom Wooley filling the gap BUT have no idea how long/bad Jenkins injuries actually are (and hope its just a bit battered and bruised). Is there a minimum time off with injuries like there is when missing fixtures due to sickness?

I would think James Laker is a shoe in as he is already on the Island for a development league match? Then Richard Andrews and R/R if the usual formula fits.
