  1. Agreed. Palin should go well around Scunthorpe and if Gilkes can sign for a home track that suits him it will be a huge benefit in his opening CL year.
  2. Certainly have no intentions to rubbish Dan at all and quite frankly his record in the NDL speaks for itself this season despite having the year hampered through injuries. The initial point which my posts were referring to was the readiness of riders and preparation prior to taking the step into National league racing although maybe not clearly worded enough. In reality the mistakes that were made during the early dev league matches probably taught Dan far more than those that he won by a distance and has helped mould him into a tremendously humble talent that he is today.
  3. Delighted to hear that he is on the mend and back on a bike. That said there are many other off track issues that i fear will always follow him around. A frustrating waste of talent much like Lewis Bridger.
  4. If its the same Dan i remember he spent a lotvof time doing laps on a 250 but not improving greatly. That said he must have been doing something right to join the revolution stable while it was running. I recall the first full year there were many 6 scores but final heat falls or break downs / broken chains which sounds like gremlins to me.
  5. No disagreements there. But if he is out long term which appears to be then he should be replaced in the side. RR is no good for the future of the sport
  6. It certainly is a commendable venture and a worthwhile one. I have no axe to grind with Leicester in particular just the rules themselves. It seems to happen every season Rob Shuttleworth, Lee Payne, Sam Chapman, Callum Walker all riders off the top of my head that were out for prolonged period of time (in Shuttleworth's case forever has anyone actually seen him?) and RR used non stop in their place at the benefit to the home sides. How can and should it be a benefit in this league to have no rider filling a position.
  7. Said it time and time again that the use of RR should be restricted to emergency use only. Allow guests of whatever level but give fans 7 riders and a meeting that doesn't drag out forever
  8. New reserve and tbc for Cradley is not a good start. If the top 4 all do something it could get close but in reality perks hume and RTD should be able to win this alone. No Ryan Mac again? Assuming work time off issues although didnt think rules allowed that this year?
  9. There might be a queue but as one of many Hagon sponsored riders this year (they have gone nuts) i still think the South Coast is nailed on.
  10. Keeping him proved to be the right thing then, well done bspa. Fortunately Wally has got signed up at Kent so thats his 5th team this season (6th if you count that he signed & dropped Plymouth pre-season before resigning). How many riders can better that in one year?
  11. Broc Nicol wasn't and i make him nailed on to be an Eagle next year.
  12. Blooming late withdrawal considering no-one was racing yesterday....glad im not a sceptic
  13. Tractor & shale are promotions problems not managers. As for riders vans breaking down you said real life events not fictitious ones
  14. Kent vs Cradley in 2014 finished with a 0-0 in heat 2. Im sure it was something daft like a rider not under power when a rider fell then the two Cradley riders left the track thinking the race would be awarded? Someone with a better memory will correct me but was certainly a strange atmosphere as it all happened.
  15. Very true but its a limited amount that are any good at Championship level. Obviously Erik Riss. Eastbourne should be congratulated for what they chose to do but the PR spin was a little bit cheeky IMO.
  16. In all fairness it was regarded and publicised as a great hurrah that Eastbourne fielded an all British team but in reality a new promotion cannot sign any sponsored overseas riders in the first year. Will be interesting to see how British the side is next year.
  17. Hi Skydog. Bad wording on my part there. I saw Dan several times on a 250 machine and he was going quick but nothing exceptional compared to seeing Ablitt, Edwards, Thompsons etc on the same machinery however the step up in class saw him make huge strides in his first dev league season often missing out on maximums due to silly falls / mechanical gremlins if i recall.
  18. Whilst i agree with the sentiment of the post in all fairness to Danny his average of 7.64 would see him as 2nd or 3rd heat leader in every NL team except the one he is currently in (yes his average has been boosted by riding as a second string). In the Champs most sides would be delighted with a reserve who has doubled their home average although true averages are the GSA's and not with bonuses included so its safe to say that most riders wouldn't / haven't had the chance to stay in a team long enough to creep up to 3.05 at home and a whopping 1.20 away (the only riders to record worse are Luke Chessell who tried to return after serious injury and Tom Woolley who was signed as a sacrificial lamb and half way into the season).
  19. I think thats the same number of teams that David Wallinger has signed for this season
  20. Championship level clubs might actually start showing an interest in the NL and development leagues below. Leicester have been tracking and helping the Thompson Twins for years, Jordan Palin signed for Scunthorpe already. Those in the know are looking forward and can see these changes coming. Might even see some Championship level sides hosting development league teams or linking up with NL sides so that an actual progression chain can be established.
  21. With the greatest of respect the vast majority of youth racing takes place at the weekends which is far easier to balance. There were obviously a lot of extra pre/post race laps completed by some like Rowe/Kemp/Ablitt etc but to say they all know what it takes is a bit far off. Gilkes trod water for a long time before really stepping up a level on a 500 machine, Spooner had terrible equipment until Kent set him up. Clouting has great bikes and crew but very little racing experience and Mulford whilst a natural talent is getting by on a wing and a prayer at the moment. Not taking away any achievements by any of these riders (and their families to get them here) but even the most prepared riders like Flint/Bickley/Atkins who have been raised ready for Speedway must breathe a sigh of relief when a season is over.
  22. Numbers game though. Can't see Leicester making a double swap to fit him in. If Eastbourne were going to make changes i think they would have gone for Nicol themselves given his record at Arlington & Hagon connections. Redcar might shuffle about as he has to be worth more than Kasper Andersen. This is where there should be incentive to sign / keep British riders. Lets face it there are many who would love the deals some of the visa riders come over on.
  23. Very unlucky indeed if that was the case. Leading the meeting winner and two other members of the top 6 by a distance maybe he is ready to step up. Hopes of a wild card seem unlikely though with higher profile names (although not better prospects) in front of him from the UK alone.
