Two National Leagues in 25
Sings4Speedway replied to Speedway fan's topic in National League Speedway
absolutely, my hazy memory says that riders couldn't be re-declared that season but im sure that was move to 2 weeks when Armadale wanted to pull a fast one -
Nonsense rules designed to help a select few riders who mostly should be looking to cope without the NDL/T safety net. Awkward with Morley, Kent will want him to do well but sail under the radar enough that he doesn't get offered a CL sport or he will have to vacate his Kent place.

Theres basically 7 riders Killeen, J Thompson, Hagon, Foord, Mulford, Ablitt and Harrison that would have been blocked from NDL had the spurious if you rode in 2024 you eligible whatever rule not been added. Its also not a fun place to be if you are Ben Morley, do well at NDT and get offered a CL spot, take it and lose your NDT spot within 28 days. If in theory he loses his CL place a further 2 weeks later can he then be re-declared into the Kent side? -
Thinks that will be fairly close. Potentially swap Woods for Connor King and Josh Couzins for Nathan Hargrave. Don't know if Josh Warren still has bikes or interest but he would be a good final piece......not much of an Eastbourne flavour to the side though.

Also is there a surplus of rev limiters as when it was attempted previously supply could not live with demand and the idea dropped. Even with double uppers and NDL/NTL being the same riders there needs to be 3-500 PVL coils available before the start of the season. Thats only rough maths with riders wanting 2/3 each and many will want way more than that, same would apply to sellectra. -
The problem is the near sightedness of the rules and the way they are switched about rather than commit to them. It was obvious to many several seasons ago that the dilution of the NDL would lead to riders on inflated averages but are not ready to make the step up to the next division. Sadly CL promotions saw the NDL as a viable threat to their business model and rather than attempt to compete they squashed it and are now paying the price. Good signing for Kent though.

Varies year to year. Hook, Pearson, Congreve and Wood all got NDL rides so depends on what suits / who stamps their feet. That said i doubt McDiardmid would be fussed about NDL. Team is most likely last years finishing side with Luke out and Kai Ward in....
-
Id wager the first one. Nice peoples but green promotion. Would be a whopper of a clanger if Morley was announced and ineligible. Even more so if like previous teams they had Kennett and Ablitt lined up too.....Nick Laurence should be fine though 😁
-
Also suspected he was a likely signing. Aggressive rider off the start with some CL experience, desperate for a place anywhere and easy to drop once Cairns comes of age.

Can't see any real benefit in any of thse mentioned doubling up again except perhaps Harrison and Foord who i believe is in the same boat. Covering off the aspiration element there are plenty of riders who have and do aspire to be successful in the NDL, just because they don't progress to higher leagues doesn't mean they haven't had meaningful riding careers. Last season teams were padded out with plenty of these riders but largely because they still had the kit. If any/all of these riders need 2 x ignition systems, 2 x silencers and potentially new bike covers on top of licence fee's etc for potentially 4H4A how many do you think will pass? -

Averages are of course a nightmare in this situation and in no way have they been considered barring initial year 1 team building. To have any credibility each league should have its own rider averages that are used for team building moving forward. For a start there is a good chance the levels could be quite different so a rider could average 8 in the trophy and 5 in the NDL. Then there is the other examples. New rider in the trophy signs on a 3, ends season on a 9. The following season he looks for a spot in the League competition too does he sign on as a 3 or a 9? With such short seasons averages won't be calculated more than twice during the trophy season anyway. The concept of allowing teams extra fixtures and a way into the sport is sound enough but as ever massively hashed together with very little consideration of where the product should be moving forward. -

Previously the trophy was for teams that were already in the league that wanted extra fixtures. Now the current league setup has said 6 teams is enough with regards to rider availability and fixtures and if anyone else wants to play they have to join a separate competition and wait to be invited into the league if a place becomes available in the future. The league is already losing a few notable names and was already bolstered this year by hobby riders who were/are happy with a shortened fixture list. There will be plenty next season who only want a place in one of the competitions and only really those who have aspirations beyond NDL level will be looking for places in both. -
Just like a Northern tour....set off optimistic for 3 times in 3 days but often return home having seen no action.
-
Because the other reserve could be weak or new to British speedway and unfamiliar with the various tracks...... Just an opinion/prediction. At the end of the season one of us will be right and the other not, its the way the world works.
-
Can see a few 0-5's in heat 2 for the Comets this year.
-
Doesn't look like Hagon fits. Mulford does and would be a great signing but can't see that happening. Hook feels most likely but also feels uninspiring.
-
Hagon would finish the side off and make it look pretty strong (certainly at home) however if the other reserve berth is weak/new to british speedway i can see another year of close but fall short come the play offs
-
Im praying its Zane Keleher 😁
-
I thought the same and there was an U19 event this year so potentially undermining/replacing that. Certainly no argument that track time, mentoring and equipment/vouchers are very good prizes but the initial fanfare leaves the announcement feeling a bit flat
-
Exactly that. Thomsen would have averaged even higher if it wasn't for returning too early from injury and has a strong riding skillset. Vinnie has a target on his back already, needs about 10 bikes a season and has a lot more ring its neck and hang on approach. The Fords only look at success for the upcoming season and Tobias was/is the smart choice.
-
I love Alfie but can't help he is just playing it safe/stalling his career with convenient regular Plymouth rather than push on elsewhere.
-
Compared to several other predicted lineups this one looks average. Reliability comes from Worrall and Harrison with the rest capable of solid scores or poor scores with little rhyme or reason. Reserve is the potential trump area if the Kennedys can find any sort of form but if not im not convinced its a side that will be unbeaten at home.
-
With respect thats not the finest idea. Its been tried before when the pool of emerging riders was of a far higher standard than now. A coupe of teams will snap up the cream and the others will be left with NDL 2nd strings (t best) then following year once some of those have upped averages it will get even worse.

Question whats more important a winning team or a team worth watching?
