Hodder must have made huge strides since i last saw him if he warrants two mentions by you and to be far more impressive than one of Aussies highest regarded youngsters i look forward to big things this season.

Which is why as a whole the RS system was always farcical and destined to failure. It was hailed an initial "success" because there was a crop of riders ready to make the step up (and by fortune the promotions managed to get these riders at a cheap rate rather than let them haggle out their own deals). Now the CL doesn't need/fancy the next crop coming through they have closed the doors leaving instead the RS at PL level by name only but in reality its a place for a home grown star which the Continental major leagues have been doing for years.
-
Imports will always happen but the worrying figure is no new Brits into the CL this year. How could the PL get any stronger? It is a financial struggle as it is. Unless Sweden goes pop and riders want to return the level will maintain but at least the calibre of riders is closer. The spread of rider levels in the CL from top to bottom has been vast for the past few seasons. Its only closed up a bit this year as the lack of heat leaders available means that the reserves signed by most teams are 4ish pointers rather than 2.00 making it more of a closed shop and harder to break in.
-
You could also add that there are zero new British riders into the CL this year. Potentially Ablitt but he had been signed to Eastbourne before it went belly up. The plan was a long term conveyor belt offering chances to graduating riders instead its back to the usual with overseas untried imports and no vision of a long term plan.
-
Teams from whispers do seem a bit better than initially thought although these are still NL second strings/reserves and the number 8. Still some clubs struggling to get riders interested though.
-
I don't believe that Jake didn't get offered opportunities at NL and CL level but clearly terms couldn't be agreed. Now looks out in the cold after a very brief burst of flame.

IF it happens....it would only be 3 PJL home meetings and potentially an extra PJL play off later in the season. Im sure there have been a few approaches to riders but im yet to be convinced that the teams are finalised yet or even close to it. Edit even got that wrong 2 groups of 3 would be 2 home 2 away and potential play off. Im sure the riders are queueing up for 4 extra midweek matches

Number 8 for each team and Junior League
Sings4Speedway replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I feel like we are getting off track and potentially agreeing with the same thing? The likely team make up is going to be 1 x 4 star rider then 3 x 1 star riders (be they 15 or otherwise) . Sadly even with some highly talented youngsters its still likely to be diverse in levels of ability. -

No mention of Prem only in the regs and ultimately wouldn’t be enough riders to go round/fit. Most/all PL number 8s are going to be 3/4 star riders. They can only ride for one side so the rest is going to be much lower graded riders. 014.1.2 Rider Eligibility Teams should have a regular squad of 4 riders. Being an opportunity for young or inexperienced riders, the league is open to: - a) those holding a UK passport and an ACU licence. b) holder of a valid SCB Registration c) eligible and committed to the Rising Star programme 15-year-old riders on a 500cc motorcycles will be eligible and classified as a one Star rider. 014.1.3 Team Composition Teams will consist of 4 riders with a maximum team build of 8 Stars or less and may include the following: - a) 15-year-old riders on 500cc motorcycle b) MSDL and NJL riders riding 500cc motorcycles Guest ruling – any eligible rider who has not previously ridden for a PJL team and does not increase the team total above 8 stars. -

They were on the 2021 list. Has a 2022 been published? -

Did i say PL ride? The PJL is made up of riders totalling 8 stars. Most number 8s are 4 stars so the remaining riders will be 1. Obviously 2022 list is hush hush but going off 2021 list the Millars, Butcher, Chattin, MacDonald, Smith, Woods etc. All 1 star riders who are potentially going to go to the tapes with a Thompson or Hume and try to provide a competitive spectacle. -
Plymouth Gladiators 2022

Bad timing even with understandable reasons. Given he has no other Speedway commitments it would have been more helpful to at least "encourage" Kennett to stay on and do the first meeting then quit? He cops a ban for with holding services, Plymouth get to run RR until a replacement is found..... -
I would have let you off its if was about Cradley . All a matter of context and we all have bad days posting and reading things different ways on different days. Confusion doesn't take much but no offence taken

I wasn't confused i was sad as it appeared that you were point scoring over the demise of another club and as one of the respected Brum posters i thought it was both unusual and unnecessary. Nobody wants to see Birmingham fold but contrary to most promotions and board members opinions those who post on here are (largely) not thick, they know the level of team required to draw sufficient numbers, they know when they are being widely fibbed to about official vs actual attendances and they certainly know whats worth paying to watch. I personally would rather watch a slightly weaker home side have to battle for the wins against stronger visitors rather than vast home dominance so im just hoping the Brum can get riders signed and achieve weaker rather than just weak.
-
As much fun as it would be calling you multiple names its easier to stick you on ignore. Given the amount of non PR happening from us people from Birmingham id say its a blessing that this thread has any interest and isn't confined to page two like it will be for mostbof the season. I chose to be here, i chose who i want to engage with and read content from and i don't deem your input as worth bothering about so please join the elite club of idiots.

Number 8 for each team and Junior League
Sings4Speedway replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not going to disagree that pay rates across all leagues have got silly but it started at the top and worked down. As for gulf in level there are number 8s of 4 star level who will be CL 2nd strings this year whilst others on the rising star list drop down to NL reserve and lower. No offence to any of them but 1 star rising stars can be hugely different in class to those who they will be lining up against. -
2022 championship predictions
Sings4Speedway replied to Jaizer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Agreed. Two massive gambles on 4.00 averages. Whilst im not particularly convinced by Complins comeback he does have pedigree. Congreve on the other hand is a huge risk and a 6 point something rider in his place would make it a very different looking team. -

Crikey! starting on a 4.00 he does actually have a chance of improving his average. I think Newcastle could shock a few a be fairly dominant at home (away likely garbage but home form should see them keep off the bottom) -

Hardly worth riders funding their own team kevlars then. However using the RS pay scheme rates of £40 per point, a 4 rider 6 heat formula so 36 points available split in half so 18 points and over 4 meetings 40x18x4 =£2880. Thats a lump of additional cash a season to fork out. Im sure some riders would take to the track for £20per point and some might even do it for free but the gulf in levels would open up pretty quickly and the spectacle could rapidly go downhill. -
Could be argued that its relevant due to the unearthing of new talent and offering opportunities to them who might potentially fill team places in the future. I remember the Brummie buzz about the Thompson twins a few years ago and how they were going to be stars wearing the big red B in the near future (every other man and his dog knew they were Leicester bound but...)

Number 8 for each team and Junior League
Sings4Speedway replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Won't happen due to protected race nights. Anybody have the RS ratings of the no.8's? If Hume is a 4 as expected then the remainder of the team will have to be filled with 1 star riders? Also going by this statement all PJL riders will have to be RS eligible....and have registered their interest to participate in the scheme? Sounds like it could be quite a closed and shrinking list which would only add to costs -
I would think Belle Vue would take issue with that, or anyone who had attended the Scunthorpe meetings or spoken to various other Cumbrians. Dan may have "burst" onto the scene but he wasn't exactly an unheard of secret.
-
LR is talking to 6-8 riders and is highly confident that he will be able to release the full Bulls line up shortly....... .....as for Brummies any riders available on Wednesday evenings are invited to attend P&P for the chance to try and gain a team place......
