Birmingham vs Oxford 20/7/22 (CJL)
Sings4Speedway replied to Fozzie4388's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Repeating gossip from the uninformed? I spoke with two riders who took to the track yesterday and both said it was garbage, peeling up in chunks, ruts and holes all over the place. John is a good track man but watering too heavy in advance can make the surface loose and dig out badly. The early reports about the Brum track were good, recent reports have been sketchy and last nights conclusion was it was dangerous and neither rider was excited about riding there again. As you say i wasn't there and im definitely not likely to be there until the issues are resolved, Brum are hanging on by a thread anyways and blundering through meetings whilst denying any issues certainly won't last for long. -

Thank you for your insightful reply. Fortunately i dont get to Brum much these days but was told a couple of weeks agao that the track is down to the base and after last night was told it was bald and plenty of craters on both bends. Oxford clearly not happy with it and took forever to get the 15 heats run tells something. Dust was always likely an issue and given the recent heatbits forgivable but when there is so little shale to water its even worse. -

Ive heard awful reports about the Brum track tonight, bald, big holes and largely in a very poor condition. Meeting dragged out so long that 2nd half abandoned and another nail in the ever inevitable Birmingham coffin. -

Glad to see Jack back and its great that Oxford are able to strengthen yet again but as the play off boat has sailed is it just further monies spent for little reward or part of the bigger picture keeping fans knowing the club is ambitious and likely to field an even stronger side next year? -
I think his intentions have always come from a good place but actions are either cringeworthy comedic or just plain belligerent and stubborn.....think Laurence Rogers x 2.
-
Kent are operating the same model at Iwade and appears to be working, early start, early out (or stay and watch any additional second half racing). No need for floodlights, home at a decent hour for a decent dinner on a Sunday and its a more family friendly timescale.

Buxtons major problem (apart from Pipe) was that it refused to accept it was any different to other clubs and refused to approach things in a different way. If they had been forever open that the track isnt the greatest, we don't pay much but we are loyal to our riders it would have gone a huge way. Instead they were generally belligerent and chopped riders in and out the sides constantly. A weekend track with training and second half options could have churned out riders year after year but instead "we know best" closed a venue that was potentially ahead of its time.

Im sure Lynn were crying after that one, stroppy little bleeder needs a reality check.

Ozford v Berwick..13/7
Sings4Speedway replied to Ovalman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
They can and the other clubs can refuse to pay it. However any clubs that are hard to deal with generally find it harder to land assets in the first place. Ultimately riders talk and why would you allow yourself to be committed to a club that restricts any future movements. -

That was the plan for this season and if a P'boro sized hole opens in the Prem then that will be the case next year. All the top flight clubs want more teams to race against (but aren't prepared to split the TV monies pot any further) -

In theory a club has first refusal on an asset but in practice the rider can generally go where they like. If an asset wants a move to a different track for a multitude of reasons there is little practical options for the club to stop which is why its a an outdated and largely redundant system. -
Joe was in the form of his life so no rider available (maybe Jody Scott but Kent far too slow for him) would have been a fair average replacement. With Sam injured Connor can slot in at reserve but RR is still likely. With Danno and Jamies averages sliding there is work to do. That said its much earlier in the campaign for Kent (having completed half as many fixtures as some) so plenty of time for improvements all round.

Jody Scott re-declared into the Chargers side on a 3.00 which becomes 6.11 on 17/7......that is a brilliant bit of team building and makes them the strongest looking team in the league in my view. -
Maybe Bickley is cheaper? The disparity of races that the 6&7 get is getting wider and there is no decent way to stop it without messing with the program or the way the team building is actually done.

Averages (Premiership vs Championship)
Sings4Speedway replied to baiden's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Much of the above all depends if you take note of the conversion rate or not. For example Kyle Howarth PL 7.13 CL 9.38 (diff-2.25) however 7.13 x 1.5 = 10.70 (diff+1.32) Might go through them all later but at first glance there are a lot of riders who are achieving higher averages converted in the "tougher" league (or are they short changing their championship sides?) -
The problem is / was that it could be possible for an unattached rider to puck and choose meetings that suited them, ride and rack up big points (affecting results) and would still remain a 3.00 rider for next season. If a rider decared in a side has a decent start or run of home/easier fixtures they could easily up thier average and then get dropped/frozen out. Ultimately if your points count towards the match result and are affecting the averages of others it should affect that riders too. Ive seen/heard that the points should applied to Jody but time will tell.

To be fair if Luke won each ride he would be getting more than one race a night (but i know what you mean) . I guess Jody Scott is going into a 1-7 very soon otherwise he is getting a 6+ average pretty soon. -
Indeed. No plans to return to NL lasted just under a week . No idea what he will be like at Iwade but the same could be said about any track he visits as a very hot or cold rider with little in between. Few options about for Alcocks average and injuries racking up for Kent it could continue to be a long (hot) summer.

Leicester Lions 2022 Line up
Sings4Speedway replied to FishersGate's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
They could of course name Coles as number 8 and allow him to take 3 of the RR rides and let the other go to the rider with the average above Dan. -
Theres a lot of dodgy rules about. Personally i think that unattached riders should be issued an average just as attached riders are once the number of meetings are achieved. Don't really know how Jody was signed in and out of the Chargers (28 day replacement or full signing) either way at NDL level theres too many rules and regs to jump through.
-
Can a rider be re-decalred into a team if they have been taken out once already? Hopefully can be as regular team racing will only enhance him further (and im sure will be available for Oxfords visit to Kent in a couple of weeks). Certainly no blame for heat 15 but he and Greg were scrapping and really it was a safe 3-3 so could/should have tucked in one behind the other.
-
15 i believe. Skill set is good and perhaps the more experienced riders should have just given him more room? Big future ahead though and will be a big signing next year for someone.
-
Useful rider big speed but was out for himself. Took Blair out early on turning an easy 3-3 into a Kent 4-2. Tangled with Crang in heat 15 also. No doubt quick though. Not sure how long he can keep guesting without getting an average though?

Could have been Gilkes. I remember Spooner spent a year free and easy with no threat of being saddled with an average. Could easily happen with an up and coming rider. Especially if they get dialled in at a few tracks. I know its limited to twice per track as a guest but that could drive the higher bidder element further. -

Hard on Connor and probably unfair. Been putting in far more effort this season than Roynon has been but the Godfather knows best.
