Who knows seriously though probably going to happen after the Belle Vue away fixture, leaves 3 league fixtures (plus play offs) and maintains a nice clean 3.00 average to start next season on.
-
Belle Vue are a mightily good side at home end of. They build well utilising riders from last season who were gaining in ability and track knowledge, scooped up Ablitt on a small average and are properly dialled in at NSS. They have put 60+ on 3 sides this year and 50+ on the other 3. Even Leicester who have a strong squad this year will have their work cut out to come away with anything.
-
Any reason given why Richard Andrews failed to show for this and the Armadale meeting?
-
The fact that the fixture was taken and remained in place with the knowledge that Bowtell and Morley would miss it due to Plymouth commitments was staggering enough. Guests will step in and do a job but have no allegiance to the club and no responsibility to help other riders through the meeting. The injuries added to the massacre but it was always destined to be a bashing anyways.
-
Spot on. Can only have guests up to cover whos missing so unattached 3 pointer for Connor at reserve and up to 3.5ish for Halder as non of those were available it became another unattacher 3 pointer. A lot of teams get battered at Belle Vue and the later in the season the visit the more dialled in the home side. Kents full season starting 1-7 may have got 10 points more.

The questions raised there are is the NDL a professional league? The governing body certainly doesn't think so. The disparity between riders will always be there when teams can be built using riders who double up and are riding 2-3 times a week vs riders who ride twice a month. The only way the standard will get raised now is for more double downers to drop back in from the CL, the journeymen have been pushed out/drifted away already. The youth setup is producing a few riders each year but not many and certainly not enough to fill the reserve slots each season. Most teams started the season tracking at least one 3.00 rider with full seasons experience under their belts. The NDL can survive if its viewed as a long game for developing riders (with the quick rising exceptions shooting through to higher leagues). You can't build teams across any league using 10 pointers and 3 pointers and not expect to see some strung out races. If you want a "closer" product then its cap the averages of the riders allowed in, if you want the NDL to be progression keep allowing the double uppers (but accept the costs). Unfortunately the league as a whole is trying to be too many things and if it carries on is in danger of no longer existing. A glimpse of the future for the NDL is to look at the CL, littered with fading stars earning pay days for the final few years, when the mass retirements come the league will be in tatters, if the trickle of fading stars keep dropping back down to NDL it will become the same.

The problem with Mildenhall has always been when its prepared grippy to start with. Theres no room or run off for any error when riders are caught out (as Halder found to his peril) then the track goes slick so riders just wash across the top (as Morley/Roynon found out). The home riders normally know more of what to expect, away sides face the lottery. Falls happen at this level, injuries will occur at any track but Mildenhall does seem to have more riders hurt than other venues which has always been a worry.

Congreve doing alright in the IOW meetings. Competitive enough to mix and or beat Morley, Coles and Atkins who are all either CL reserve or fringe level. Yes his average would be a point higher but it seems hard to believe he couldn't hold his own at another CL club. -
I have nothing against any of the riders for taking the booking and don't blame them but its poor from Brum. Poole will face the brunt of this due to big pay outs and likely lower attendance. If this isn't a case for fielding an under strength side then i don't know what is? It must be better to go to the BSPL and say we contacted x number of riders, they all said no so we have no team for tonight.

Oxford vs Plymouth 27/07/22
Sings4Speedway replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Its been proving difficult enough to get the PJL fixtures run with riders from the NDL guaranteed rides, i really can't see a long line of riders prepared to travel all over the country, setup, warm up then load up without even getting a spin out of the kindness of their hearts (ignoring the lost wages, days off etc). The only way to realistically prevent events like this is to limit the use of RR to exceptional circumstances only and have guests for the missing rider (guests must have be 10-20% lower average than missing rider) -

The major problem being the difference between number 8's and number 8's. What i mean is to tick a box a number 8 can be a local second halfer who will offer zero point scoring threat unless fallers/mechanicals occur (and could be a danger on track if not up to a decent level) vs meaningful number 8's who will want the RR rides and certainly want some financial compensations to stand there on a free evening. -
UK speedway slowly dying
Sings4Speedway replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think Speedway is definitely split down the middle with fans of a team and fans of the sport. Team fans want continuity of riders, a bond with the club and a feeling of belonging. Sport fans want entertainment, close matches a little controversy and excitement. Rarely these days do either group get anything close to what they desire and hence the mess the sport is in. -

Roynon is included as a free preactice ahead of Centurions meetings, not sure if Wrights average would fit at 1 (possibility) , Coles has to be a step up on McGurk and could be viewed for a change or next season option? Its not always madness behind decisions even if it looks like them. Anyone know the actual riding order? Guess RR at 2 , Bowtell & Roynon at 3&4 , with Wright at 5? -

Think thats for a rider with holding services....that said i can't currently find the piece about 28 day injury replacements so maybe its not actually a rule and everyone just makes it up as they go along anyway -

If Tero was declared out and Wright signed as a 28 day injury cover then its all legit. -

But I think that means it was fine for Thomas to return in place of Summers, Summers then replaced MacDonald. If Aarnio was declared out fully i don't see how he can come back in? Think its to prevent deals with riders being removed before thier average drops then resigned in place of a lower rider. -

Ben Phillips has a busted Collar bone sobits for him. Means guests still for Gilkes and possibly for Trigger too? If not RR for trigger will be strengthened by guest number 1 and Roynon taking rides....down side is NDL has 2 guest bookings per track so options limited and prices going up. -
I am very corrupt and definitely not to be trusted but still far below those who "run" the sport

Didn't think you can re-declare a rider into a side once they have been taken out? Only loophole i can see is if Wight was a 28 day injury replacement for Tero and then Tero returns and Wright is signed for Palin? That said in the best interests the Godfather can do as he likes. -
Im not that corrupt

The disparities between the rides that 6&7 get are vast. A number 6 can do alright in heat 2, face the next two rides with tough riders and then often get pulled from thier last ride as the 7 has been scoring in the "easier" heats. -

Sings4Speedway replied to Fozzie4388's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It is a vastly out dated quotation that has caused far more harm than good throughout it use over the years and needs to be put to bed. I am fully aware of who you are, who you are grandfather of and your prowess (or lack of) for manoeuvring a trailer. If you are ignorant enough to be using the quote on the first place you clearly do not understand its harmfulness. Good day. -
The cause of and solution to all of Buxtons/Speedways/Lifes problems....... .....all im saying is that there are plenty of venues that can/could have been run sustainably and there are clubs operating similar models that make it work. Venues without over baring and over charging landlords have a far better footing from the off.

There are about 20 things wrong with that response and you wouldn't understand any of them. -
Crowds will come if the product on offer is decent. Riders didn't care that they stepped into the changing rooms at Buxton and then there feet were directly on the floor, they cared that the track was dodgy and that a great lump of concrete kept poking out of turn 1 every meeting. If that was dug out over a winter, the track re-laid with the equipment and offers of help that were there the rest could have sorted itself. Offer regular second half rides to emerging youngsters with the chance to progress to the main team and a conveyor belt begins. Finances might have been tight but a weekend track for a rider starting out is a huge lure. There are problems that all track face but with more clubs looking at venues away from established stadia and pricey landlords Buxton was ahead of its time, with a little more open minded approach the club could still be running sustainably now.
