  1. I think JG is a certainty for a full 1-5 place in the elite league next year. Cheap on a 3 point average and capable of beating riders above his calibre. However.......his attitude stinks, not sure that I have ever seen him talk to a rye house team mate, there have been numerous rants about not being selected for heat 15 and I would argue his machinery is questionable at best. There are definitely bad apples at rye this year and sadly that attitude is rubbing off on others with any luck the Jason's will be gone next year then hopefully Anders will return, Ty Nelson will get a visa add a improving national league youngster and I think the team will both unify and push for honours.....
  2. Getting tight for those illusive two play off places...............its going to be down to who can get the meetings run before the cut off date? If Rye House had got the meeting result at Buxton yesterday (stupid rain) it could be even tighter.................. ...........Milton Keynes a cert for a place but the other spot could go to any of the top 6 I reckon? What are everyone elses tips for the silverware this year?
  3. I wouldn't worry too much about the state of the track (never been but also never heard a good word about it). I would worry / rejoice more about the weather........looks shocking at Buxton on Sunday so cant see this one going ahead ? Which leaves the tricky issue of....... 1. Will Kent have enough points for the play offs without it? 2. Will Kent push for a re-arranged fixture before the cut off?
  4. I have to agree with almost everything that waco said (and often do). Danny Ayres has huge potential and has already shown great improvement although a few weaknesses along the way. Sadly the same cannot be said for Jason Garrad although what other options are there? Luke Harris was doing ok and got dropped, Brandon is still unfit? and did little other than go into/over the fence when he ddi ride so i suspect his confidence/bottle is in pieces, Kirby did ok but no great wow and still far to large. So who? A reserve from last year that has been left out of National league sides? What does that tell you? Ive only seen a few of the MDL riders that look ready to step up.........and for the record Garrad wasnt one of them!
  5. Riders only take 3 rides a meeting generally in the MDL, it's not a 15 heat format. Good luck to Garrad, if he has the same impact as Ayres then it will be a good move for the team. Hope Harris does return later in the year or in 2015, he'll be a very good rider in future and the Kings can't afford to let him slip through their fingers I am aware of the MDL system however 4 meetings @ 3 rides = 12 rides not 9 add in that often the rye house young team often only have 3 riders so should have taken 12-16 rides in 4 meetings not 9. I hope Luke Harris does return but i suspect he would be inclined to tell the Rye House MDL team to stick it and return to the grass. Sadly another youngster potentially lost by not being given a decent crack.
  6. It cant have been easy for Luke to make the travelling whilst still at school for the monday nights but i still think he was worth a little longer to get settled. Yes he had gone backward and certainly looks tired in any races after the fourth but still looks better than the new boy. I will definitely be there on monday as i suspect thrills and spills. 4 x MDL meetings as racing experience is nowhere near enough!
  7. Whilst i agree that young Luke was probably pushed into the team a little early and may be a little unfortunate that Danny is going so well and exposing his scores im not sure another total rookie is the answer. Looking at Jason Garrad’s MDL record this season so far is: Matches 4 Rides: 9 Points: 19 Bonus pts: 3 Total: 22 Unofficial average: 9.78 4 matches should yield a 12-16 rides not 9 (mechanically unsound and crash happy) Ignoring bonus points as they count for little 19 points from 9 rides is 2 per ride in MDL hardly setting the world alight. I was at Rye on Sat evening when Jason started the evening being sent back to the pits as he had entered the track in the wrong helmet colour. Whilst none of these are shocking issues on thier own i cant help thinking just 4 MDL meetings and straight into the kent team is a little too fast!
  8. Whilst i agree that we definitely need Benji back in the side its very promising to see signs of what Aaron Baseby is truely capable of and could be the signing of the season? (and shame on RTD cynical move) I was happy to see that both Luke & Danny have been declared in the 1-7 and although Luke had a poor night he can still improve and i really havent seen anything from Brandon that i think Luke couldnt do. As for DM's away form this may be iffy but he was the fastest man round central park last night and a potential match winner against the big guns plus expertly guided Luke Chessell home in thier outing together. Sadly ive not really seen LC beat anyone of quality yet and still believe he should be the one to make way when Benji is fit again. Its all well and good spending 5 minutes spinning out a groove on the start line (annoying to watch) if he then either doesnt make the start or hits the first corner far to quickly and runs wide!
  9. Definitely the right move in terms of cover instead of operating rider replacement. Benji when fit has to come back in though. Brandon on the other hand has done no better than either of the current reserves so i would leave them in to gain experience and a potential point in the averages? If Aaron does well over the next few weeks and Benji is fit again i would be looking at removing the inconsistant Luke Chessell to fit him back in.
  10. Highlight of the afternoon was the form of Danny Ayers ,he has pace and is now less likely to fall by overiding Hope we have him under contract...his 5-1 with David Mason, who again showed what team riding is all about in holding off a determined Jack Kingston and nursing the rookie home was the best race of an entertaining afternoon,,Great credit to all the riders as the track became increasingly wet and slippery on the inside line. Couldn't agree more. Danny looked in far more control today on what seemed to be new machinery? Perhaps a different machine was the answer. For me the real hero was David Mason. The team riding skills he showed to encourage bot Danny & Luke home during the afternoon was superb. A stunning performance as captain & a shining example that its a team game.
