  1. Hats off to the Brummies and hands up I admit I got this one very wrong. I still think its a big ask for Ellis & Perry to score like that every week & when the off nights occur they may be in trouble however if Chapman & Kirby can keep the middle order points ticking over it will help. For the Heathens I don't think Grieves will have many 5 point nights but on the flip side Perks wont get 16 every week so that probably balanced out. Not sure how early Harris got injured but he is capable of more than 1 or 2 at this level however I thought Moggo would be scoring a little higher than he has so far..... Overall I still think the two teams will be opposite ends of the table but a much needed confidence boost for Brum.
  2. Berwick’s new number one, Ben Barker is looking forward to the challenge of riding with the Bandits after making the switch to Shielfielod during the winter. Sounds Nordic to me.....no wonder is 5550 miles
  3. Not really the right thread but never mind. Any news on how the P&P went? Did the new recruits look on the pace?
  4. Bottoms up and lets party........you Eastbourne fans really are close! However id love the attendance for the first meeting to better anything achieved in the EL last season.
  5. I think Mildenhall line up in a very similar way to Kent, Rye House & Stoke. Each has a potent number 1 with good support from 3,4 & 5 so any riders upping their averages will be crucial and Mildenhall are in a strong position for that. IMO I think Stoke have the edge with a stronger number 2 and Tedham at reserve would have been riding for the last few seasons barring the stupid over 30's rule. Mildenhall are next in the pack for me with marginally more experienced reserves and it only takes one of these to settle quickly and a serious charge could take place. Kent & Rye are almost identical. Inexperienced reserves at any level of racing and number 2's who have league experience but need to kick on. Either way I think it will be a very close season but im going to stick with my gut feeling of Cradley, Stoke, Eastbourne in that order.
  6. I fear another tonking for this one by a similar score as before. Pointers for the season for each side in my mind are Will Harris score better than last week (I think he will) & will Neale achieve a similar score and continue to gate well. If so Cradley will be a very dangerous proposition. For Birmingham I think the key indicators will be the scores of Kirby & Chapman as its well documented what the "main two" riders can score but can they add significant back up. Other than that its how on the pace Wilson & Banks look. Something tells me that a Birmingham side with a point to prove may over cook things a little producing a meeting with many stoppages....
  7. The reason I like this forum is the enthusiasm shown by so many fans. Yes opinions differ, we all have riders we rate / think are shocking but that's just life. Good on the passionate Eastbourne fans Alex 2000BC , Cat in the Mac and alike. I hope they enjoy NL racing at Arlington good or bad and get the chance to visit various other tracks around the country too.
  8. Thank you for that. Much as I expected. What if the original manufacturer was no longer trading? If a technical official can deem a suit unfit to race (tagged or not) can they not also deem an untagged suit usable?
  9. Certainly worth keeping an eye on for the results from the youth rounds this year as a little pointer.......its positive when you can say even the 125 class is hotly contested.......
  10. Question........ If a rider has a race suit that complies to the regulations i.e full Kevlar / no nylon but it doesn't have the correct "approved for 2105 etc" tag..... A. Could he still use it? B. Where could he get it verified for use?
  11. Jason Finished at Rye House on 4.66 so "IF" the rumours are true I could only see him replacing Adam Roynon 4.78 unless one of the reserves sticks a point or so on their average....
  12. Looks like Adam Ellis had a night to forget for the second time this week? I know Stefan didn't get a lot score wise but how was he pace wise compared to the rest of the field?
  13. IMO Sheffield have a bigger home advantage than Scunthorpe. Lunna needs to adapt very quickly and I feel the PL might be a step to early for Perks however I am happy to be proven wrong.....
  14. Don't get too excited Shawn. Whatever the subject there will be a difference of opinion and you are fully entitled to yours as I am mine and its certainly not meant personally against either you or Adam. I also concede on the cost of Maliniak kevlars if they are £950 + postage then I believe you although I still consider them over priced compared to other available suppliers but again just a matter of opinion....
  15. Just a little nibble 1 Ipswich 2 Glasgow 3 Workington 4 Edinburgh 5 Somerset 6 Peterborough 7 Sheffield 8 Rye House 9 Newcastle 10 Berwick 11 Redcar 12 Plymouth 13 Scunthorpe
  16. Birmingham need time as do the riders however a strong advert for the MDL yet again. Neale, Harris & Perks all rode speedway regularly last year whereas only Wilson could claim the same for the Brummie new boys. I still think there are some much tougher tests to come for Cradley namely in the forms of Kent, Eastbourne & Stoke after those encounters perhaps the judging can begin but I wouldn't expect that many 60+ scores this season.....
  17. Perhaps Danny Phillips will get his chance earlier than expected......
  18. I personally don't think that Cradley will walk the league but they are certainly going to be there or thereabouts and may win by a lesser margin. As said many times last season Cradley have the same points limit as everyone else and the riders could have been signed by any club. Midweek tracks are not desirable for many but a central catchment area must be an advantage (its less likely that northern riders would sign for Kent / Eastbourne etc). Other than that its just down to money. If Cradley pay more per point than other teams they are more likely to get first pick on riders, a pay cap wont work as bonuses / additional sponsorships would just be used. I guess we should see how the season progresses but its down to the other clubs to try and close the gap however they see fit.
  19. Hats off to Adam for turning down the Peterborough offer (even if it was a short term one) although a dangerous position to be in as other clubs will come knocking throughout the season
  20. Sadly much as I expected but you can't read too much into this re the league as imo this was a near top vs near bottom contest. I expected Harris to score a few more and Neale to score a few less so evened out and if Neale can carry that form on and fast gating Cradley will have very potent reserves whoever occupies those positions. Apart from Ellis Brum were where I expected, Zach, Alex & Harvey all need time to settle in but could be a painful season if you follow Yellow & Red.....
  21. I always "assumed" that if the there were team kevlars then they were supplied and paid for by the club......and if just race jackets are supplied the the rider buys their own kevlars....why would a rider opt to buy a design of a clubs choosing rather than their own?
  22. Due to Adam's Lakeside connection from the past I guess? Or solely because he is willing and available. Many of us forget that NL riders take a lot of time off work to compete. Its one thing booking time off for league commitments but another for challenge matches.......however good and worthwhile the cause is.
  23. Really??? I fail to see why this suit needs to be replaced? and why others need to fund it. If Peterborough brought and supplied the suit in the first place how is Adam out of pocket? If he feels guilty or chooses to replace it that is his decision and shouldn't be looking for hand outs IMO and £1000........new reg suits can still be purchased under £700 so don't get greedy!
  24. I cant say I have particularly high hopes given the line up.......I shall consider it a bonus if either rider scores a couple of points and Adam completes all 3 rides....
