Looks like Adam Ellis had a night to forget for the second time this week? I know Stefan didn't get a lot score wise but how was he pace wise compared to the rest of the field?

Betting Odds To Win The Pl
Sings4Speedway replied to greyhoundp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
IMO Sheffield have a bigger home advantage than Scunthorpe. Lunna needs to adapt very quickly and I feel the PL might be a step to early for Perks however I am happy to be proven wrong..... -
Don't get too excited Shawn. Whatever the subject there will be a difference of opinion and you are fully entitled to yours as I am mine and its certainly not meant personally against either you or Adam. I also concede on the cost of Maliniak kevlars if they are £950 + postage then I believe you although I still consider them over priced compared to other available suppliers but again just a matter of opinion....

Birmingham Vs Cradley (ch) 18th March 2015
Sings4Speedway replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Birmingham need time as do the riders however a strong advert for the MDL yet again. Neale, Harris & Perks all rode speedway regularly last year whereas only Wilson could claim the same for the Brummie new boys. I still think there are some much tougher tests to come for Cradley namely in the forms of Kent, Eastbourne & Stoke after those encounters perhaps the judging can begin but I wouldn't expect that many 60+ scores this season..... -

Birmingham Vs Cradley (ch) 18th March 2015
Sings4Speedway replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
I personally don't think that Cradley will walk the league but they are certainly going to be there or thereabouts and may win by a lesser margin. As said many times last season Cradley have the same points limit as everyone else and the riders could have been signed by any club. Midweek tracks are not desirable for many but a central catchment area must be an advantage (its less likely that northern riders would sign for Kent / Eastbourne etc). Other than that its just down to money. If Cradley pay more per point than other teams they are more likely to get first pick on riders, a pay cap wont work as bonuses / additional sponsorships would just be used. I guess we should see how the season progresses but its down to the other clubs to try and close the gap however they see fit. -
Birmingham Brummies 2015

Hats off to Adam for turning down the Peterborough offer (even if it was a short term one) although a dangerous position to be in as other clubs will come knocking throughout the season -

Sadly much as I expected but you can't read too much into this re the league as imo this was a near top vs near bottom contest. I expected Harris to score a few more and Neale to score a few less so evened out and if Neale can carry that form on and fast gating Cradley will have very potent reserves whoever occupies those positions. Apart from Ellis Brum were where I expected, Zach, Alex & Harvey all need time to settle in but could be a painful season if you follow Yellow & Red..... -
Race Suit Regulations
Sings4Speedway replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I always "assumed" that if the there were team kevlars then they were supplied and paid for by the club......and if just race jackets are supplied the the rider buys their own kevlars....why would a rider opt to buy a design of a clubs choosing rather than their own? -
Due to Adam's Lakeside connection from the past I guess? Or solely because he is willing and available. Many of us forget that NL riders take a lot of time off work to compete. Its one thing booking time off for league commitments but another for challenge matches.......however good and worthwhile the cause is.
-
Really??? I fail to see why this suit needs to be replaced? and why others need to fund it. If Peterborough brought and supplied the suit in the first place how is Adam out of pocket? If he feels guilty or chooses to replace it that is his decision and shouldn't be looking for hand outs IMO and £1000........new reg suits can still be purchased under £700 so don't get greedy!
-
I cant say I have particularly high hopes given the line up.......I shall consider it a bonus if either rider scores a couple of points and Adam completes all 3 rides....

Has Danny Phillips ridden any PL meetings before other than guest rides? -
To still be racing at a very competitive level at Tony's "years" I think we would all like to know what he has for breakfast....

Great over hyping though.....

I completely agree that holiday camps are a huge potential catchment area. Not just for nearby clubs but for the sport as a whole. If a family of holiday makers enjoy the speedway they would be more likely to look up local tracks closer to their own homes. If all clubs did this the sport as a whole would benefit. (IMO)
-
I completely agree on this one. I really don't see the Birmingham hype. I look at the team and see two heat leaders who could up and go at any point if the right PL offer comes along and one who is doubling up questionably. Of the other four three are largely unproven however any could step up and be "the find" and Adam has proved time and time again just what he is capable of! I think there will be stark contrast at Perry Barr this year with Birmingham & Cradley at opposite ends of the table.
-
Fully expected Danyon to be involved so no surprise there but have the other two ridden any competitive speedway? Don't remember the names from any MDL meetings and certainly not for Rye House last year. Andrew has been bang on so far with his signings but cant help feeling these are more about training school revenue / promotion than league contention? As I said I know nothing of George & Alfie so they could be superb..........time will tell
-
As much as it makes me harp on about the MDL again it sounds like Sanderson is a prime candidate for more time at that level before moving up? I don't see it beneficial for any rider to be thrown in before they are ready and subsequently dropped repeatedly at a young age.
-
I can assure you I have been to plenty of grasstracks and know there is a lot of talent there. However of the talented young riders with speedway potential I wouldn't include Matt Saul in that bracket. I agree its good practise for future speedway riders but still maintain that these riders should then progress into the MDL, learn the tracks & set ups, then be granted team places. However this is just my opinion obviously.
-
Still think it stinks how the others are being treated. Mullins, Sheppard & Couzins were going to race off for the 6,7,& 8 positions. Mullins drops out, the other two get the places & Kent search for a new 8? Seems logical but no instead there are others added to the mix, hardly a confidence booster for either rider. I don't think its likely that Sanderson would be travelling down to Kent every Monday night for just a number 8 berth.....I suspect he will want 6 or 7 or not at all.
-
Id rather see sanderson in than someone who has only mucked about on the grasstracks. There seem to be several riders that have got places this year without any proven speedway merit and IMO is a poke in the eye to all those who have been serving their apprenticeships in the MDL......

Its a good job I don't do smug.....who am I kidding im incredibly smug right now!
