  1. Good efforts Islander. So as it currently stands his average is either 3.00 or 3.68 or somewhere in between and even the BSPA may not know. It may not matter though? Do I remember somewhere that your average gets re-set to 3.00 if you haven't ridden for 5 years? Although if that is the case it wouldn't be re-set until the end of this season?
  2. Whilst in theory it makes sense it doesn't quite work in practice. Being told to be able to lay a bike down at a certain point is a world apart from having to make that decision in a split second and then having the ability to do so. If riders serve their apprenticeships via practice days then amateur meetings then MDL etc the riders will progress and learn at a sensible rate and gain valuable track racing experience. The sudden influx of riders that have shown some promise after a few practice laps and then get thrown straight in does alarm me. Do not forget though that this is not the riders fault. It is the management / promoters who include the total rookies when they are not ready.....
  3. Where does the next breed of riders come from then? Every league needs a starting block / entry level. Even the elite league reserves you mention look far more inexperienced than the Second strings heat leaders they go up against. All riders know and accept the risks. Not pleasant but a true fact. Race with the risks or pack up its always been each riders choice.
  4. Better to Remain Silent and Be Thought a Fool than to Speak (type) and Remove All Doubt
  5. Dan Berwick might not fit anyway then. I will be taking in a few Eastbourne meetings this year especially as Sunday is a far more amiable day ditto Mildenhall if the track gets sorted. As for Kent I think I will definitely be more choosy this season. The whole set up this year seems pretty half @rsed.
  6. Completely agree. If anything the meeting needs more 3 pointers to give the lads a confidence boost? Perhaps I am just being overly negative and suspect I have been for some time. My love for the sport isn't fading but bizarre decisions and actions by Kent over the winter / start of the season have left me questioning when and where I choose to visit......
  7. Whilst I agree that Johnson & Ritchings are decent additions to the field as is Chapman although just because he has a team place doesn't make him a PL rider. Adding Berwick & Banks to the Kings bottom 3 makes 5 reserve level riders in the meeting. Whilst im all for extra track time for all the team I am undecided if I want to pay full price for the strong chance of very strung out races.
  8. Think he is a friend of the Baseby's so has eased himself in the door however if he turns in a decent performance he may be in with a shout if changes are to be made? Does he still have an average? and if so anybody know if it would fit?
  9. Pairs line up: Kent SLYDE Kings: Ben Morley & Adam Sheppard Crayford Kestrels: Harvie Banks & Danno Verge Crayford Highwaymen: Danny Ayres & Brendan Johnson Crusaders: Aaron Baseby & Dan Berwick Bombers: Darryl Ritchings & Jamie Couzins Romney Falcons: James Shanes & Sam Chapman Not sure if I can even bring myself to attend this meeting? A few potential close encounters but pretty shocking standard throughout really. Not hugely impressed by this celebration.....
  10. Really surprised nobody has mentioned Kingston taking a break from the sport on here? Huge hole now left in the Mildenhall team given the potential he had to up his average. Who can / could replace him? Don't know Brendan Johnsons average but I guess it would have been higher?
  11. If he can keep out of trouble Ayres is in with a strong shout. If Kelsey makes the starts he did on Friday it could be his. Dawid the pole could mix it up / spoil some peoples day? He kicked Niall's **** on Friday!
  12. Think you may be right although with any luck Moggo will get a few more points riding at two and Luke just needs to be patient and wait for the averages. In this league he will make a good reserve and hopefully get a decent confidence boost.
  13. He rode in the 2nd half at Eastbourne on Friday. Looked fairly quick but a little wild. Not sure how he would fair with riders alongside him. Should provide a little entertainment in the Sussex Cup but will need to track down a long lost British grandparent if he wants a NL place.....
  14. Which only means Rye have to ask to use him. If they ask and Peterborough say no it either means they have imminent plans to use him or are happy to hold him back. He only has a few weeks at best before being ineligible for the MDL so is he going to keep turning up after that?
  15. Can't help wondering if Luke wouldn't have been better off taking the NL number 1 spot and sticking with that? Great Rye servant but I wonder if lack of enjoyment is something to do with his decision. As for who to fill the spot. James Shanes needs to conquer his gating gremlins before he can step up, Marc Owen isn't a terrible shout. Danny Ayres falls foul of the doubling up age restrictions for a full place but could be an interesting guest? Danny Phillips perhaps?
  16. I didn't attend so don't know the definite reasons for the hold up but suspect that switching the meetings over in the pits may have played its part? Its not really right or fair that the NL riders have to rush in to get set up / work in the car park? Whilst I will be making a few visits (especially for double headers) I very much suspect that the Sat night doubles could end up very late affairs indeed.....
  17. Obviously Brandford already signed for Edinburgh, Halsey too old?, Owen not a bad shout ditto Wilson Dean but feel he might need a little longer to settle? Strong possibility Ollie Greenwood could be available soon or Dan Greenwood could also be worth considering?
  18. Not sure if it was Dave or if he would have been at Rye House as he supplies both however it is a little naughty. Didn't matter either way as Eastbourne handed a lesson in gating even with used rubber. Even with the inevitable re-shuffle due to averages changing Eastbourne still look strong (barring Warwick who seems to be struggling / rusty). Good travelling support from Eastbourne both in numbers, enthusiasm and gracious in victory also. Congratulations to Georgie Wood recording a big win in his home County. The Eagles are doing a very good job of setting the bar.
  19. Redcar are in action though. Is it a definite that Ben will be riding for Kent?
  20. Better to keep the team on track than lose them all together? If Central Park provides a stop gap whilst another venue is found nearer / in Essex it has to be a benefit. Not a perfect solution but some any speedway is better than no speedway
  21. Tough one to call. I think Rye have the marginally better top 4 but I rate Mildenhall's higher. Kingston goes well at Rye and obviously Halsey did the business in the NL Riders Champs. If pushed id say loads of shared heats, heats 13 & 15 deciding the meeting and the Raiders to register their first win.
  22. I fully expect Eastie to be buzzing and cant see anything other than a home win on Friday.
  23. The only thing certain about speedway is that nothing is certain...... He may get a point or two more than Mason but David strengthens the team in more ways than just on the track.
  24. Is there any word on why Sanderson was a no show at P&P for the reserve shoot out?
  25. As I said if its adding to asset base and having the potential of first call on his services next season then it makes perfect sense. If its adding assets for the sake of it then not so much. There is a lot of stringing along in the sport at this level (shown only to well at kent for the 6,7&8 positions) and plenty of who you know not what you know.
