Luke Bowen Takes A Break From Speedway
Sings4Speedway replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Can't help wondering if Luke wouldn't have been better off taking the NL number 1 spot and sticking with that? Great Rye servant but I wonder if lack of enjoyment is something to do with his decision. As for who to fill the spot. James Shanes needs to conquer his gating gremlins before he can step up, Marc Owen isn't a terrible shout. Danny Ayres falls foul of the doubling up age restrictions for a full place but could be an interesting guest? Danny Phillips perhaps? -
I didn't attend so don't know the definite reasons for the hold up but suspect that switching the meetings over in the pits may have played its part? Its not really right or fair that the NL riders have to rush in to get set up / work in the car park? Whilst I will be making a few visits (especially for double headers) I very much suspect that the Sat night doubles could end up very late affairs indeed.....

Luke Bowen Takes A Break From Speedway
Sings4Speedway replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Obviously Brandford already signed for Edinburgh, Halsey too old?, Owen not a bad shout ditto Wilson Dean but feel he might need a little longer to settle? Strong possibility Ollie Greenwood could be available soon or Dan Greenwood could also be worth considering? -
Kent V Eastbourne, Easter Monday 6th April
Sings4Speedway replied to stevec's topic in National League Speedway
Not sure if it was Dave or if he would have been at Rye House as he supplies both however it is a little naughty. Didn't matter either way as Eastbourne handed a lesson in gating even with used rubber. Even with the inevitable re-shuffle due to averages changing Eastbourne still look strong (barring Warwick who seems to be struggling / rusty). Good travelling support from Eastbourne both in numbers, enthusiasm and gracious in victory also. Congratulations to Georgie Wood recording a big win in his home County. The Eagles are doing a very good job of setting the bar. -
Redcar are in action though. Is it a definite that Ben will be riding for Kent?

Rye House Raiders V Mildenhall Saturday 7pm
Sings4Speedway replied to Paul's topic in National League Speedway
Tough one to call. I think Rye have the marginally better top 4 but I rate Mildenhall's higher. Kingston goes well at Rye and obviously Halsey did the business in the NL Riders Champs. If pushed id say loads of shared heats, heats 13 & 15 deciding the meeting and the Raiders to register their first win. -
I fully expect Eastie to be buzzing and cant see anything other than a home win on Friday.

The only thing certain about speedway is that nothing is certain...... He may get a point or two more than Mason but David strengthens the team in more ways than just on the track.
-
Is there any word on why Sanderson was a no show at P&P for the reserve shoot out?
-
As I said if its adding to asset base and having the potential of first call on his services next season then it makes perfect sense. If its adding assets for the sake of it then not so much. There is a lot of stringing along in the sport at this level (shown only to well at kent for the 6,7&8 positions) and plenty of who you know not what you know.
-
Doesn't make the world of sense to me. If its just adding to the asset base just in case he becomes good then fair enough but if he is in as injury cover I would be pretty fed up if I was the Eastbourne number 8. As for stopping other clubs signing him that also makes little sense. Can Eastbourne stop him riding for other teams if they wanted to use him? and would any rider be happy with that deal? There seems to be several riders who think the league will be easy this year, get a bike, do a few laps and get a team place........I think they will be in for a nasty shock!

Perhaps Len is a bit of a dinosaur but he has probably done more for speedway in this country than any other individual over an extremely prolonged period of time. If Connor is still involved in 10 years time I may consider his input meaningful until then it just remains a phase.....

King's Lynn V Lakeside Tues 31st Sky 7.30
Sings4Speedway replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sorry but the two posts above are on the money. For excitement, passing and over taking you need to look down the leagues. For any spectators that haven't watched the NL recently it is well worth a trip out on a different day......you might just be surprised! -
The mascot I suspect.......won't have to travel far for that signature...
-
No disputing who won battle of P&P but its paying spectators that keeps clubs afloat. I tip my hat to Connor for the social media involvement and advertising he has generated although ultimately that is his job. Kent had good crowds for the most part last year (barring the odd cold night and Scunthorpe's visit) an I expect the numbers to be similar this year. Eastbourne had a good turn out for P&P but how many will pay to watch week in week out? I hope the numbers are good and that Eastbourne survives however its results & figures that matter not hype & hope.

Most peculiar however speedway riders are a funny breed..... All the more ironic as the fall was caused by Matt excessively leaning all over Jamie for no obvious reason whilst Adam had already gated and was past both of them....

Brummies V Stoke Good Friday 8 Pm Start
Sings4Speedway replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
I Definitely don't think it will be easy. However the track time may just edge it for Brum. Think Stoke will take a point here at least. -
Cruel blow for Matt but its a cruel sport. Definitely a chance for the others to cement their places now although ironically this still leaves Kent without a number 8 following Sanderson's no show.
-
If the website is any indication? Must have been recently updated as Danno is in his new suit. http://www.kentkings.co/team15

I have to say I was impressed how Jamie coped with being excessively leant on by Matt going into the first corner which caused Matt to fall and bring Jamie down. No arguing Matt looked fast but the least in control. Adam was most consistent and quicker than I have seen for a while. Jamie did look a little rusty and not great when following but composed when leading. Based on last night I would have said Adam should be 6 or 7 and then a tricky choice for the other position so if rumours are true im a disappointed. There was a little hole but was easy to ride round and the faster riders were looking for it for extra drive. Thought the top 5 all looked quick so very much a positive there. Roll on Friday.

Are there more injuries than ever or is it that with the more information available (forums, social media etc) we know about the injuries? I personally don't blame the bikes or the tracks. The riders are going right to the edge and sometimes beyond the edge of their limits. The reason being if they don't the guy behind will........its points that keeps your team place and the riders are prepared to risk all for the rewards.

Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe Lc 26/03/2015
Sings4Speedway replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Who says there is any deal? If Ashley Holloway is one of the top regarded tuners in the country its not a huge surprise many riders use him. In addition if he is preparing good engines that fly round Sheffield why wouldn't they all want to be on board with that. With a good client base maybe Ash attends most Sheffield meetings so can see how the riders / engines are performing and make the required adjustments. Plus locality means he could collect / deliver engines to all. Theres not always a dark ulterior motive......lets face it the way Steady is going at the moment the others would be mad not to be using the same tuner! -
Tricky one for me and here are as I see the pluses & minuses for each Jamie: Quick round Central Park & Good backing however lacks experience of other tracks in the league Adam: Ridden almost every track in the league & plenty of MDL experience but well known reliability issues Liam: League Experience with Scunny but lost his place and seems prone to falling Matt: Grasstrack racing background & must be connected to even get a shot but is no Georgie Wood & has practically no shale experience. I suspect it will be Liam & Jamie but Adam needs to pounce if either are faltering....Matt needs to earn his right and shouldn't even be considered IMO
-
Looking at the Kings website it sounds like both reserves berths are up for grabs at the P&P day? As it stood originally it was Mullins @ 6 with Adam and Jamie racing off for 7&8 although the promise of a squad / rotation to keep all happy was dangled. Now with Mullins withdrawal (ive said enough on that) the race off is taking place with additional competition and its possible that neither Jamie or Adam get a place? If I was either party its safe to say I would be more than a little peeved at being strung along.....

King's Lynn V Poole, Elite Shield, 26/03/15
Sings4Speedway replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Plus from memory the Tier 1 reserves were Boxhall (riding at Ipswich tonight) & Roynon (injured) As for the guest choice I would have tried to get Rose to make it a little spicy.....
