Mildenhall 40th Anniversary Palmer Trophy 28th June
Sings4Speedway replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Decent meeting once it got going IMO. Jacobs, Morley, Armstrong & Halsey were all superb. Special mentions also to Rob Shuttleworth & Josh Bailey who I thought competed exceptionally well considering the competition and were rewarded with race wins. Stinkers of the day went the way of Jack Kingston who should have been more imposing on his home track and the chaotic Danny Ayres although he provided plenty of entertainment. Despite the lengthy starting delay the gap was at least filled with the blast from the past riders although the mid meeting interval seemed excessive and unnecessary? All in all a long but enjoyable day, race of the day definitely Jolly vs Henry (two biggest cheers: Henry passing Jolly, Henry falling on the next bend). Is there any news on Luke "slugger" Chessell after his nasty looking tumble? -
Does Smith want to come down to Kent every week though? Just because he rode in a Kings jacket at Cradley may have just been putting himself in the window for others to see? Sanderson was interested until the reality of travelling from the Scunthorpe area to Kent every Monday night kicked in and just no showed and vanished off the face of the earth. Makes luring Basford down from Redcar all the more impressive but how many times will he want to do it?

I wont judge Ben tonight on much other than how near the pace he is. Im hoping Jamie & Danno have been practicing somewhere in between meetings as they need to start stepping up now especially Danno if he ever wants to make a career for himself. Fingers crossed that James isn't to tired from his weekends adventures & that Ben is still on a high from his good showing yesterday. As for Danny the least said about yesterday the better, lurching from one calamity to another like the early days with plenty of time on the deck and dramatic tantrums thrown in, fingers crossed they are all out of his system. Think the Kings need a double figure advantage to stand any chance but fear it will be very unpleasant viewing tonight.

Kent Kings Reserve Changes
Sings4Speedway replied to Old Crusader's topic in National League Speedway
Next up on trial tonight is Ben Basford. From what ive seen his equipment is pretty good, a hard slightly fiery racer and very Northern. Going to cost a few pennies in fuel allowance to get him here. He's already had spins for Buxton & Birmingham so shouldn't be a new experience but if they didn't want him......either way a tough test tonight but going to watch with an open minded approach (for once) -

Just seen Alex Wilson had to withdraw injured from NJL match last night? Any further news how he is? -

Makes no odds who you want to drop to reserve its just the two lowest averages and based upon the new green sheet Marc is getting close. That said its hardly a problem is it. Whichever 2 of your 7 are going to score well at reserve just as they have all season. 1 Bradley Wilson-Dean 10.00 2 David Mason 7.38 3 Richard Andrews 6.86 4 Matthew Bates 6.27 5 Marc Owen 6.11 6 George Wood 5.91 7 Kelsey Dugard 4.94

Staggering to think that Owen could end up at reserve. I personally thought he would be pushing for number 1 (before we had heard of BWD). If Georgie continues his meteoric rise it could become the case that Owen, Bates or Andrews drop to reserve. Staggering & scary for any opposition!

Agreed or substantial lowering of averages for Brits. Also ditch the under 25's doubling up rule and make it 2/3 years then choose like they have started with the Pl/EL. As for the listed riders how much would I like to see Shanes round the EOES Cheek! The guy buys and sells Polish bikes all the time.... -

What happened to the 2 x Number 6's? As I suspected Mikey Neale missing was decisive. The top 4 on either side scored almost identically however it was the Brum lower order that made the difference (humble pie). Losing Phillips was a blessing for Brum and allowing the other the extra rides. In the ned the match winner was Kkkkir, Kirb,.....I cant say it! -

If it was 3 on 3 id back Ellis, Perry & Waj over Clegg, Perks & Williamson however I think Mogridge could be the deciding factor in this meeting? However on the flip side and I cant believe im saying it Kirby could be a match winner (good luck giving him the bumps) Here's a thought. Isn't there a case for R/R to be scrapped in the NL? If this league is all about developing young (???) new talent, then wouldn't the greater good be benefited by drafting in a MDL rider, or some other junior? Not a bad shout? Make teams run their number 8's instead of R/R? Would certainly lend more credibility to the requirement to include them anyway. -

Draw? One big gun having an off night could swing it. Sadly injuries hitting each team hard and non more so than Neale who would have run riot I suspect. Both sides to earn something from the meeting. -
Sadly Adam has been blighted with equipment issues since he rode after the meetings last year. Im glad he has come to his senses and realises he needs these properly resolved before he can progress any further.

Kent Kings Reserve Changes
Sings4Speedway replied to Old Crusader's topic in National League Speedway
Still not seen Smith ride but does sound like he needs more time? There is an obsession with unearthing the next big thing at the moment and chucking youngsters in a little too early? Kent is a far southern outpost and may be a little far for some riders to consider on a Monday evening. I did see Chris Hunt at the Mildenhall meeting on Sunday probably thinking they have lower order woes too but I wish one of the Kings reserves would score paid 17! -
Wouldn't blame him if his own supporters don't get off his back. The lad has speedway running through his veins and is having a great first season. Yeah a few mistakes, over eagerness etc but that's all part of the learning curve. Kelsey won't walk but he might be driven away unless his own fans get behind him.......don't forget Niall Strudwick would probably take his place!

Thanks for the info on this. I always thought a number 8 could take R/R rides or cover for the rides of any rider if they became injured during the meeting? -

Hall on the FTR? Can't make it up surely. Promoting young British riders or battered old war horses.... -

Sings when hes whinging is sitting firmly on the turn two fence for this one. Ellis is in fine form at the moment and the Brum hopes revolve around him. Im not sure how Perry goes round Arlington but I cant imagine its his kind of track? The other key is if Chapman is riding as R/R isn't as potent with Zach in the main team. That said id rather have the points on the board and taking a narrow lead in to this fixture might just be enough..... -
Was Bomber on the Gerhard last night when he had his break down?

Sings4Speedway replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Dan is finding the learning curve s steep one but I feel he could progress further. Ollie I feel for as it just isn't happening for him. Ironically I reckon he would have been going alright at Somerset if it wasn't for his job. (This is only a feeling and not based on any stats, figures or reasoning) -
Shocking news. Been in great form for Lynn and will have a massive impact if his season is over.
