I think it would be great to see the look on the elite league riders faces as the NL boys take their time to clear the pits and not have to play second fiddle as the lower leagues constantly have to do.

Mdlrc Line -up Change
Sings4Speedway replied to Main Man's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Whilst the meeting moved at a brisk pace (good job it did with the cloudburst just after the final) it was full credit to all riders for being ready to go on time. The meeting was a cracker. Yes the track conditions curtailed it to the inside half of the track but the effort and skills displayed by all were tremendous. As was the racing, plenty of passing and for the most part very close, hard but safe racing. Plenty of riders deserved more points than their reward for their efforts but in the end a fine display by JPB to give a fully deserved win however special mentions also go to Alex Wilson, Layne Cuppitt, Callum Walker & Jamie Halder who all played a very significant part in the title hunt. Hats off to Dale & Laurence and all the unsung heroes who get the league organised, the very generous sponsors and of course the riders for providing the entertainment. After meetings like this is begin to think the sport has a bright future. -
GROUP A RYE HOUSE: Robert Branford & Kyle Hughes. STOKE: Jon Armstrong & Lee Payne. KING’S LYNN: Tom Stokes & Jake Knight. EASTBOURNE: Bradley Wilson-Dean & Marc Owen. COVENTRY: Martin Knuckey & Darryl Ritchings. GROUP B MILDENHALL: Danny Halsey & Connor Mountain. BIRMINGHAM: Tom Perry & Zach Wajtknecht. BUXTON: Liam Carr & Ryan Blacklock. CRADLEY: Max Clegg & Ellis Perks. KENT: Ben Morley & Danny Ayres. So what are everyone tips for this? Personally I think Rye House & Stoke from Group A. Cradley & Kent from Group B. (I know Brum will do well but just cant bring myself to tip them. Rye House to take the overall title.

I have never suffered such annoyances personally but that probably means im not such a vital employee! Although if they checked how much time I spend browsing this forum I doubt I would be an employee at all eeeeeep! -

If this is a hastily re-arranged fixture then fair enough but if it was planned it should have been booked off at the beginning of the season. Does seem like weeknight away meetings are an issue for him? Jamie broke down en route to Mildenhall last week. If that is still the issue its also a bit concerning! -

Ive never been Luke Chessell's greatest fan but if he has stepped down in an act of support over how Andrew has been treated then he has earned some respect from me. Just goes to show how highly regarded Andrew & Mia are by the riders. When innovative & experienced people are forced from the sport it makes for very worrying times ahead. -

Where are Baseby & Couzins again tonight? Getting a little tiresome now that a team with fully fit riders are using guests & RR again! -

Ah mama Mia that's it! Lovely person who along with Andrew gave so much. Ive been hotly tipping the Raiders to make top 4 but now I cant decide if I want them to. Over the winter it looked like the new investment and new blood in the club would bring a huge turnaround. Sadly it seems to have only caused bad blood. The last thing Rye House needed was any more nails in the coffin. With Len in charge it may have remained in the dark ages but there still would be speedway. With Mr Touring Cars I fear the end is closer than I feared. -

Terrible shame. Not just for the Raiders after he put so much effort in but also the training schools. The list of riders who have taken the opportunity to get laps in there is endless. Good Luck to Andrew & his lovely partner who's name escapes me right now. Fingers crossed your services and knowledge will get utilised elsewhere soon. -
Team Changes At Buxton And Cradley?
Sings4Speedway replied to John Leslie's topic in National League Speedway
Buxton never had the ruthless Pipe before. That said they are having a decent season. I feel for David but I think he will feature in his parent clubs side when they enter the NL next season. I think Buxton are after Parkinson-Blackburn. I suspect he turns 15 in the next few weeks? Good signing if they can get him. -
"Roll on Len Silver, even your own son has walked away from Rye House Raiders today" Where did you hear that? If its true then it is a truly horrendous shame although possibly more to do with Warren Scott than Len.

What is it that Aaron Baseby gets up to in the middle of every season? Missing from the Mildenhall trip & tunnel trophy match? Sure I remember something similar last year? I think very highly of Aaron as a rider & team member but these unavailable's are peculiar.

Eastbourne Eagles Vs Birmingham Brummies 23/8/15 Nl
Sings4Speedway replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
Do you still get a little extra on the averages to play with when booking guests at home? If so you might be able to stretch to Tom Stokes or Shane Hazeldon as a replacement for Woody? Id want to keep clear of Danny Phillips as he has been disappointing this year and form wise id be tempted by Kinsley or Ryan Terry Daly. Add a RTD to your BWD Either way I still think the Eagles will be safe at home but if added excitement is required Mr Strudwick or Charley Powell could be given a run out to make it interesting -
No arguments here. Eastbourne ooze confidence from the riders, promotion, sponsors and of course excitable fans. I have nothing but praise for the way the team is being run with support being given to all and running the club in a highly professional way. As long as the enthusiasm stays from the Dugards the club will prosper. I just hope the fans don't expect to be so dominant every year and stick with the team if they struggle in a future season. To really win me over though Eastbourne will need to rebuild the training track that Bob ruthlessly destroyed for more parking & knock the greedy charge to park on the head. (but ive always been hard to please)

Time For Another Rule Change ?
Sings4Speedway replied to gee jay's topic in National League Speedway
Patience. If they are ready at 14 they will definitely be ready at 15. Its not as if any rider will be over the hill at 15. There are still the youth rounds, amateur meetings and practice to be done. If any rider (riders parents) aren't willing to wait until they are 15 to get them into a NL team then they are not the type of people the sport needs anyway however talented they may be. -

Time For Another Rule Change ?
Sings4Speedway replied to gee jay's topic in National League Speedway
Personally I think it should be left where it is. There is an obsession with bringing youngsters into the sport asap rather than letting them develop until they are ready and perhaps prolonging careers. There are already too many wind it flat out and hang on riders in the league already without encouraging more by dropping the age limits. Then there is the legal and moral issues. On track all riders are adults. If for example a 23 year old rider dives under a 14 year old and knocks him off is the reaction going to be worse than a hard dive under another 23 year old? What if it was the other way round? Inevitably somewhere tempers will flare. I remember on the grass a few years ago there was an incident where an adult rider and a 15 year old had words after a race and the police were called due to threatening a minor I believe? -
Its all down to the match at Brum but with Spiller at reserve and RR I think you might just pinch it? Early in the season the likes of Waj, Wood and Perks were clearing up at reserve but now have proper averages but Spiller is better than them all and on a 3 pointer so should swing the balance. For number of appearances / performances the BWD is right up there but personally I rate Ellis & Brandford higher although they haven't been available as often.

Great meeting and the score line certainly doesn't reflect the close racing and effort from both sides. Spiller looks a class act, far more mature than his years and a huge determination to win, plus with Marc Owen some of the best team riding you will see. Hopwood bigger but better than ever, BWD giving it his all in a beaut of a race with Shanes & Owen who looked woeful early on really turned it around. Ben & James showed their quality yet again & Aaron chipped in useful points. Danny was far smoother tonight but didn't gate that well although up against some strong competition & I thought Jamie was the fastest ive ever seen him in a Kings jacket. Reserves had shockers though but even without mechanicals wouldn't have got near Spiller & co. All in all an enjoyable nights racing, good to see plenty of Eastbourne fans making the trip & my first proper look at the rider with the most potential in the NL. -
IF that is the case then fair enough although making him captain might have been a mistake in the first place as he lacks any level of diplomacy or communication skills that aren't swearing or grunting. Truly shocking if that is correct. Barred from the stadium that is practically the second family home & speedway training / practice plays second fiddle to the new guys own personal playground. Fingers crossed he won't be involved with the sport for long!

Hope slugger gets a nice warm welcome from the Kent fans! Fingers crossed Baseby gets the better of him all night and we see another strop. Whilst head says Eastie for this one heart says Kent. If Ben continues his awesome form, Danny cuts the stupid mistakes out and james does what he does best we could sneak something. Yes Spiller could be the trump card at reserve but if Basford can get something from Dugard hopefully it could be tight. -
Pity Chessell wasn't kicked out of the stadium for good. The guy is a chump. Looking forward to him getting a warm reception at Kent tonight As for the disharmony that is a huge shame as Andrew has done a great job this season with a team on the up so if the higher management is spoiling it then that would be a huge shame. Also the back bone of Rye House for years has been the training schools so if they have been lost it would be a huge shame. Heard a rumour at Mildy yesterday that Danyon had broken his wrist? Hope that isn't the case as many have said very entertaining to watch and very nice lad.

IMO the long stroke would be absolutely fine for a beginner. They tend to respond and pull better when knocking the throttle off and then back on like you will be doing when you start riding whereas to get the best from a short stroke they really need to be held flat out all the way round. Ultimately both will be fine so buy whatever your budget permits as it is easy to over stretch yourself with speedway. (oh and if it makes you feel better I saw Tai Woffenden selling a longstroke over the winter so if its good enough for him.....)

Should be an excellent meeting especially with a Raiders team growing with confidence. Key factors for me are Is Brandford riding? Who will guest for Wood? and possibly the meeting deciding factor how much will R/R bring Eastbourne? I predict big things for Spiller but not necessarily in his first meeting.

Outstanding signing. The kid has bags of class and top drawer machinery. I thought he might have been kept under wraps until next season but if Kelsey wants a break its a top signing. Andrews should be back for you soon which is another major plus. Your final puzzle pieces are how long is Georgie out for and can Bates sort himself out?
