First and foremost Cradley are coming to the tapes in 2017 which is the top priority and well done to all those in getting that to happen. The disadvantages if any are for Brum but as they are the team with the target on their back perhaps that is another bonus? Cradley will get extra laps around Perry Barr before facing Brum. A few opponents will also get additional laps too before they potentially face Brum. Im sure the fixtures will be set so that Cradley face the potentially less challenging matches at Perry Barr anyway. The only thing i would want to know is the planned number of meetings at each venue before purchasing a season ticket.

Berwick 2017 50th Year
Sings4Speedway replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hard to decipher that tweet. Does Luke Chessell sit out for Cradley this season or sit out all together? If he cannot get a NL place (8.09) is too high to make him a sensible signing it would be a tall order to have a good year with just Championship racing. -
Favourite result ever was the 0-0 (Kent vs Cradley 14/7/2014) Not enitely sure but think 1 Kent rider fell and the other broke down? In the confusion 1 Cradley rider returned to the pits and the other broke down and attempted to run the remaining laps but was timed out.......hilarious!

King's Lynn Stars 2017
Sings4Speedway replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Decent looking side that Schlein or no Schlein. With a lot of teams building top heavy and being left exposed at reserve i think a team with a strong 6&7 all season could really prosper. -
Spot on ad yet the amount of support offered to the few who go the extra mile is limited. Those who want to organise MDL/NJL teams for example have to pay full price every year for SCB registrations, there can only be a limited amount of competitive 2 half heats run before the referees deem it to be a double header meeting and demand double pay. Referees charge for each of the youth rounds they attend. If the SCB/BSPA want to get behind the future of the sport they should be looking a subsidising some of the many fee's incurred by volunteers, how much hardship would it be for each referee to take one youth round and officiate over it for free or at least just travel expenses. These are not big sweeping changes but they might just help keep the die hard bands of volunteers who do things for the pure love of the sport going that little bit longer.

All very true however it becomes a huge reliance on a few riders. Yes a 6 point reserve is handy to cover one of the other reserve rides plus a 1-5 member if they are having a stinker but what if that reserve is having a shocker or has to withdraw through injury? Its then all on the 2 point reserve whos confidence is probably shot due to only getting 3 rides a match. Same with Doyley, whilst most weeks he will score a hatful on those days when it doesn't happen its a lot of points for the others to make up.
-
Good point which is why its important to build a team based upon low/realistic crowds rather than over estimated crowd numbers.
-
Working on the basis that Stefan Nielsen will feature in the team its leaves very little left for reserves. Sarjeant or Ayres & a 2 pointer maybe? Will be interesting to see if any teams build with a stronger reserve pairing to capitalise on some of the long tails?

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Sings4Speedway replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Given the P,boro press release states that Bacon will also race in the NL in 2017 a deal is done somewhere. Danger could be the number of riders with other team places if Perry, JPB, Bacon, Smith & Hume all sign for Brum? Home matches should be ok but i suspect it will be a real struggle to get a full 1-7 for away matches. -
National Development League Agm
Sings4Speedway replied to pete cc's topic in National League Speedway
Whilst it is obvious to all that youth is the future there is a dangerous current trend for pushing riders into league teams before they have achieved a sensible level because of their young age and potential rather than proven ability. There is an appallingly low level of support for developing riders before they step into league racing and especially by NL clubs. Instead of harping on about the lack of capable 3 pointers every season all NL clubs should do something about it. -
The paying public as ever. I agree that costs need to come down but personally feel a limit on points money reducing the available capital for riders to invest in engines & have to investigate cheaper alternatives themselves is a better way to go.
-
I can see the potential in the above points however the flaws are there always will be if the engines come from one large random pool. E.g There are 100 engines in the pool for arguments sake Rider 1 gets engine no.17 uses it for a meeting and then when removing it drops a nice handful of dirt/shale in the engine inlet before handing it back. Next week Rider 1 has a 1 in 100 chance of getting that engine again, Rider 2 gets engine no.17 and has a ruined meeting due to engine failures. The theory above is good but putting into practice is going to be difficult.

I pretty much agree with the above. I think as a standalone club it would be wise to look for riders that are riding in 1-2 leagues max that way it limits the amount of guests / RR needed along with reducing the risk of rider tiredness / injury. My gut instinct is that Shanes will stay (based on his Silver Ski sponsorship) and Danny will join Cradley (if his shoulder is fixed in time). i think Clifton will be at Kent or nowhere but im not sure he did enough to warrant another season? Danno Verge will probably be the other casualty however if Lakeside run in the NL i fully expect to see him in that side. My major fear is that with limited contacts for upcoming riders Kent will end up with the former Rye House bottom end and the season will be over before it starts. As a team that im not overly excited about but would be alright 1. Bowen - 9.42 2. Clifton - 4.22 3. Mason - 6.54 4. Thomas - 5.83 5. M.Baseby - 7.73 6. 3 Pointer 7. 3 Pointer Total - 39.74

Peterborough Panthers 2017
Sings4Speedway replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
In my opinion he was better than JPB & Smith last season and can certainly gate better than Shanes. Good lad, excellent equipment & goes well on a variety of tracks so as 2.00 point signings go i think P'boro have got as good as there is. -
The down side is that the Coventry NL team didn't contain any of the best potential 2 pointers and the NL knowledge has gone to Plymouth along with Laurence Rogers. However IF Cov are going for a 2 pointer Tom Bacon would be a decent shout after his EL riders performance? That said if teams are building top heavy with a 2'er at the tail the risk / pressure is all on the other reserve.

Garrity Barker Andersen Busch Wright Hall Perks/Greaves My sweet lord i would feel sorry for Wright with that lot. However the Xmas party could well be very entertaining and well worth £5 entertainment. I suspect Hall will be elsewhere on Thurday nights holding a spanner rather than handlebars.

Adam already signed to Swindon for 2017 another Thursday track

I thought Simon Lambert might get a mention / consideration from a few? A Brit, a real trier & sensational when his form / confidence is up.

Are there any plans to add GTR approved 'servicers' to the mix? With the workload of overseeing engine production and completing the services on an increasing number of engines in circulation is surely going to be a major drain on Marcel Gerhard's time? What would be the realistic turn around time on shipping an engine to GTR, getting the inspection/service completed & having it returned?
-
Has the rider also emailed GM or Jawa and asked if they can try before they buy? Its not exactly a standard practice with speedway bikes / engines. Maybe the GTR team 'could' hire a track & charge riders to come along for a try before you buy day? But there would not be a hope that i would take/deliver an engine at my own expense unless i was confident the purchaser was considering a large number of units not 2-3.
-
He can take a little credit as can Coventry & Plymouth but the big credit as always goes to the rider and the long suffering families who put in all the hard work and huge miles in the early parts of the riders careers.

I "think" its PL average x 2. Although there is some rule about not being able to sign for a National & Championship team at the start of the season if the Championship average is over 4 i believe?
