  1. I believe its 'facility' for any reason e.g the dreaded RR. Unless its the number 1 missing, the missing rider is doubling up or there is more than one rider from the 2-5 then a guest is allowed? Either way had Kyle completed the first meeting the rule could have been exploited but i commend Kings Lynn for attempting to track a full team whatever the level of riders that are brought in as cover.
  2. Whilst NL riders receive a contribution it certainly does not cover all travel costs however as you are funding the majority of the fuel yourself i tip my hat to you and fully accept that as a non contracted rider you have the right to choose where you ride and when. Back to the Brummies & i see that Tom Bacon has given up a very well paid job to go racing full time. Obviously determined to make a good go of things this year.
  3. I grasp what you are saying but in reality riders should react to the start rather than anticipate/guess when the tapes will go up. Obviously sometimes they will get a beauty others they will get pulled back/ hampered
  4. Whoops! An excellent training tool though......if you ca turn one of those you can turn anything
  5. Could be some very controversial decisions. The problem with 1-3 seconds is that it will increase anticipated starts as i believe its 1-7 seconds at the moment? However if the refs are strong and are prepared to put the green light on / let the tapes go when they choose it might finally reduce the amount of blinking gardening
  6. Im certainly of the opinion that the 2500cc bikes are a brilliant way of progressing a young riders career but at present there is a real lack of riders competing on them to make it viable to introduce them to any form of league. Whilst im sure a couple have stepped up (Thompson twins etc) last season the max number of 250 riders across the 8 youth rounds was 6 and most rounds had just 4.
  7. Whilst i fully accept that the SDL/MDL are purely amateur leagues and its not always possible to get the same riders every week it certainly doesn't sound that good when you state we can/will only do the home meetings and leave the other squad members to do the other further meetings. Riders gaining experience and in the earlier stages i can understand but those with NL aspirations it irks me slightly as the distances don't get any less. Squad systems do help spread the burden but if there are riders who are prepared to do all/most meetings they would be chosen first if i was a team manager (which thank heavens im not).
  8. Few points coming Tom Bacons way then. Should give him an early season boost as Campos hasn't had much time to prepare and from what i hear may have over indulged at Christmas, Pancake day, spring equinox?
  9. Top Flight: Lebedevs (Leicester) and Starke (Somerset) Championship: Berge (Berwick) and Mountain (Ipswich) National League: Bickley (Belle Vue) Thomas (Kent)
  10. Whilst i completely agree that the most learning will be done in the pits all riders at whatever level want to be out on track and i think the hardest hit to confidence will be being told they are being dropped from a ride rather than being out on track trying to score points. Whilst it would never work (because the rule would easily be abused) if both reserves had to take 4 rides the team mates would have to look at helping them the best they can rather than looking for the ideal heat to replace them in.
  11. Will certainly be interesting to see which approach works best? Teams like Belle Vue, Rye House & Wolves will probably see their reserves stay reserves all season whereas Somerset, Leicester & Poole look to always have a strong number 6 whoever moves up/down.
  12. and in the same note its all well and good finding a prospect that rides other tracks well but if they cannot get to grips with Lakeside they could be in bother before they start
  13. At least he wasn't on Page 3 although i guess riders have to make money any way they can in the close season
  14. If that is true it's the best news I have heard all winter
  15. Graversen Ayres Smith Bailey Shanes Perks Wajtknecht Greaves However as the reserves are no longer protected most will only get 3 rides a meeting and be swapped out of heat 8 in favour of their stronger reserve partner. The sport as its nature is sink or swim so there may be some who suffer a confidence drop but if 2 or 3 make it then i would call it a success.
  16. Could be a competitive try out then if Mac is down plus I'd expect Saul, bowdrey, Parker and possibly cousins to be in attendance?
  17. I think it's purely down to lakeside being a higher tier team and not needing to know who is a decent prospect. To be fair it's a good shout to see who can adapt to the technical track the quickest but a day before a meeting might be a bit tight
  18. Spot on I'm afraid. Think the Brumby side has too many passengers against one of the best line ups in the league.
  19. When looking at the rest of the number 7's most are around NL number 1 standard so all Kings Lynn need to do is match this and they will pick up points. Mountain or Davey would both be good shouts especially away from home. Not sure if Dan Greenwood is available on a 2 point average but if you are looking for a rider that isn't overworked he might be worth a shout?
  20. The support class does equate to the MDL(RIP) but the lower end of it, those looking to move into the NL need to be in the Open and mixing it with the faster riders like O'Keefe, Parker etc. In fairness to Luke as im only looking at the scores from one meeting but Alex Spooner scored double his points, is only Kents number 8 and also has some work to do to score NL points.
  21. USA dream team visiting Kent on 26th June. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Gino features in that meeting
  22. Agreed. Who makes them? I can see a company design of a skull & crossbones inside a spade? Except for Newman's who looks likes he went to JC Pro (Dugards) ?
  23. In fairness queen liz would have finished the 2016 season with a higher average than harvie banks. That said it's a like for like swap and hopefully he gets a decent run in the side.
  24. He must have come on quite a bit since i last saw him ride as from memory all of the others on this thread would be a good distance ahead? Apologies slight miscommunication. I was told there is quite a bit more of Mullins than the last time he rode. In the company of Laurence, Whitmore & A.N.Other he was made to look quite average (but equally i have little idea amount the amount of track time they have had vs Mullins)
  25. From what I heard from the Peterborough practice yesterday both leek and Parker may be a good shout. I was told that Parker looked decent but mullins was looking very rusty and much more of a rider than before he retired last time
