Fim Longtrack 2017
Sings4Speedway replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
At 30 you would think that length of ban would practically retire him? Certainly a sad way to bow out after an illustrious career but if you move if iffy circles............ I remember seeing him for the first time at Collier Street as a 19 year old. Had never even heard of him at that point and he flew round finishing 2nd in the final i think? From that point on i could see he would go on to big things. 1 x Longtrack Champ & 3 x runner up. 3 x Euro titles. 2 x Team titles & 8 x national champion is massive by any standards and yet i still feel like he has under achieved? Looked a strong favourite for another Longtrack championship before his suspension and who knows what would have happened over the coming years. -
There are obviously a few positives. He will have his old man in the pits with him this season so will have more assistance/guidance. Unfortunately from what i have seen so far i agree that its too early for him and he is another example of a kid with a bit of promise being thrown in too early. Obviously some of these riders swim and progress quickly others sink and have their name tarnished by the results and struggle to land another team place again. Obviously the shrinking of the development leagues doesn't help as the pool of riders is smaller and the amount of competitive track time is limited. I hope Kean does well & Belle Vue do strike me as a very loyal club so he should get time to learn. Im not expecting great things from him this year but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised.

ah just re-read and have to agree with you. Number 4 looks weak compared to most other sides also. There is going to be huge reliance from the top 3 all getting 10+ every meeting and hoping a couple of the others can chip in a bit
-
Feel for Buxton. There are only a few riders who would fit and get near the points limit. With Mellish & Priest still returning from injury, geography ruling out Hunter & wages probably ruling out Hall its going to take quite the rabbit out of the hat to complete what was looking like a promising side.
-
Think the reserve pairings are split this year between very strong & quite poor. Belle Vues combo fall into the second category but are not at the bottom of the heap. There should be a strong home track advantage which will help them and a very good top 5 will keep them well clear of the bottom but i see this team as mid table contenders.

Theres just too much of a gulf between the standard of the riders to tempt me to this one. Might finally make it to Lakeside this year but will need a more balanced competition than this lineup.

Hats off to Birmingham for admitting that the process for signing the 7th rider is taking far longer than expected and that selected 3 pointers have been invited to P&P in case there is a requirement to declare them in the initial side for challenge / Trophy meetings. Although that is a little kick in the plums for Kyle Roberts its important to do what is best for Birmingham Speedway.

For or against team suits
Sings4Speedway replied to Booey boy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Personally i prefer team suits although feel there should be more freedom given to riders in the design namely this part is this particular blue, that part is black, the crest goes in the middle the rest is up to you. I also think clubs should only be looking at making a contribution towards the suits and its riders option where they are made & how much extra they choose to spend on them. As for the overshirts these are also a very good alternative. Let the rider design their own kevlars but state legs must be black. The design of the fitted tops now is excellent, riders could have 2 each provided by the club for around £100 per head, its quick to get replacements / new ones should riders be dropped/signed and riders would still have their own style kevlars for individual events. -
Frenk's thats the ones. Saved me from racking my brains all evening.
-
Can't remember their names but there were a pair of talented grass/longtrack sisters a couple of years ago that were French/Dutch/German? Certainly held their own and wiped a few smiles off faces. As far im always concerned if you are good enough then no other factors should matter.
-
what is worse is that i checked the other teams signings before i posted and still didn't see it! I guess it is silly season after all and everybody is searching for any tenuous link to who the remaining Diamonds might be?
-
Matej Kus randomly coming over for the Peter Craven meeting or is there more to this?
-
Have to admit ive never heard of Rachel Hellowell does anybody know much about her / her amateur track successes? Definitely a positive for the team & the sport in general to offer more diverse opportunities.
-
There is no doubt that Stoke has its faults & that finances are a large factor of this but there are plenty of positives too like the track shape is good, it can produce good racing & the viewing is excellent. What often lets down visits there is the approach from the club. If they had the IOW style upbeat attitude along with a welcoming atmosphere you would find many are far more forgiving. Every year i hope to see Stoke succeed on the track but for them to succeed off track they need to accept the failings and look to address them one step at a time rather than deny they even exist.

Got out of bed the silly side this morning and the post was meant in jest nothing more or less. Supporters clubs do a lot of good work and I applaud all those involved
-
I thought the rarity factor added to its value begs the question what is rarer a Loomer season ticket or a smile from the woman on the gate?
-
Gotcha so the Birmingham Speedway Supporters that attend pay £2 which will go to the Birmingham Speedway Supporters Club of which many attending will already be members of..........makes as much sense as your potential number 7's passport application form
-
Always tricky on these kind of evenings as most of the questions fans want to know won't be directly answered. When will the number 7 finally get their paperwork sorted? Has anyone sponsored the race suits yet? Is Callum Walker contracted to go everywhere Rogers does? Rather than can this team win the league etc etc
-
I suspect they have gone back 3 times and checked with Birmingham if the spelling is right
-
Agreed. Youth with a bike = talented youngster Rider under 25 = rising hot shot Rider over 25 = experienced professional Any rider who has any success at any point will constantly be referenced e.g former 3 legged race runner up
-
Not sure how happy Worky would be if Newcastle signed Klindt . Don't think Bellego can double down? Porsing not doing the UK so best bet would be Sedgeman which is alarming in itself. Lahti would be an excellent signing but too expensive i suspect.

Could have been a worse injury going by his Twitter antics
-
I'd tell you but I fear people will think I'm just trying to get a high scrabble score
-
IF it is who i believe then no chance of that situation happening. Quite likely to do alright but also likely to get some shale rash during the season. Will have done well to finish on a 5 point ave. Flint on the other hand has true pedigree and for him the skies the limit.
