Kent Vs Workington 6/8/23 12:00
Sings4Speedway replied to paul84's topic in National League Speedway
Not much to shout about for the Kent "go fund me" Royals. New signing not available, RR and average (cheap) guest plus questionable unattached 3 pointer choice. Throw in poor weather in the build up and varied forecast but lack or re-arrangement dates pushes the match ahead. Could be make or massive break for Kent this weekend. -
WORKINGTON COMETS V KENT ROYALS 12/8/23
Sings4Speedway replied to rocket007's topic in National League Speedway
Kent have a very loyal band of away fans that follow the team crazy distance even when they are doing poorly. Guest and RR placement will depend if Kent have any hopes of getting anything from the meeting. -
I know the Lions will be and hope the Cubs will join them, fingers crossed there is still a league worth entering.

Poor fixture planning has a lot to do with it. Accepting too many away fixtures and real fiascos with home meetings due to car park and track issues. Great people running the club but naive and sadly abused rather than helped by other promotions.

My gut says the lower league will be Nora within the next couple of seasons. -
October play off final.....and thats relying on the semi finals going ahead. Feels like home and away twice was always going to be a tough ask, might not matter next year anyways...

Would think a bigger concern is the existence of the league next season rather than what its called. Entirely feasible that Edinburgh and Leicester won't be at the tapes, Kent have every right to think nuts to this and Mildenhall had to have a fair whip round at the start of the year to get running. This league hasn't been particularly well received at Berwick either (not helped by the crazy double header prices). The mass uncertainty of the higher leagues (the higher leagues that are incidentally riddled with much older riders) which could equally only have enough to form one league leaves the whole sport in a much bigger predicament than whether a D is necessary or not.

Oxford vs Kent - NDL - 08/08
Sings4Speedway replied to Bojangles's topic in National League Speedway
Something jangling in the back of my mind says Kent can only run 2 x NL meetings a month due to planning? Makes no sense as there is no restrictions on running practice/amateur meetings the other weeks of the month. With one September date already taken perhaps the risk of leaving the re-arranged fixture until then is something Kent and Oxford (for differing reasons) didn't want to take? Maybe its time to say if the fixture can't be run by the cut off date the away side gets the points and drop the fines against the hosting sides? -
Northern Junior League 2023
Sings4Speedway replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I find it infuriating that so many riders have cut thier teeth in the development leagues and gone on to far greater things and yet generally the powers that be do little to support them and often try to ignore thier existence. -

Interesting as Kent Mildenhall is also that date. Double header feels like a touch of madness given Iwades recent meetings -

Very sad and stupid because the successful return of Oxford has been incredible but daft moves like this are harmful to every club. How early did Poole make the decision? IOW for tomorrow was also called off this morning but Oxford allowed riders and fans to travel and take time away from work for a lost cause. -

Certainly not surprised that Luke or Harry have dropped (although didn't expect the alarming extent) Ace virtually holding his average is success considering he was a 3.00 newbie last season. Whats most stupid is that Sam has put over 1.5 points on his average, Harry has shipped nearly 5 from his and yet Harry will more than likely get signed up first next year. -

I think even with Naylor and no Killeen it was going to be a high 50's score for Oxford. Ablitt will lead the battle with Morley and Tom picking up some points and Vale will likely be out to prove a point to Oxford. However with no weak links in the 1-5 for the Chargers providing the two reserves can resist wiping each other out in heat 2 it should be a fairly routine night. -
www.warriors-speedway.com but shhh don't tell anyone.

2nd best to the likes of Morley, Complin and Boxall on IOW so not exactly a big step forward. If entertainment is what you are after Michael West is the rider you want......unless of course its entertainment on track you are after...

Last time Rob Lyon is left in charge of choosing the holiday location...

Yup clever idea (rev limiters integrated into the coil system) however they never considered the amount required so non were available before the season started and rather than postpone it just got dropped/forgotten about

Not that szkocsid needs defending but there are plenty of speedway supporters that have no allegiance to a particular (maybe soft spots for one or two) and are just fans of the sport which sometimes enables a more objective point of view.
