  1. Whilst we both have the same end goal my view is that riders won't pass on savings to the promotions but if riders were being paid less they would have to look at the amounts they spend/waste upon machinery. Current maintenance routines largely means replace parts rather than look after, will bikes last more than 1 season of course. No different to any other area of life if the money coming in is less then the money going out needs to be cut to reflect. Most riders aren't stupid and realise this, there will still be riders who can earn out of the sport and have fun whilst making a living. Those that cannot / will not make it pay, thanks for the memories, enjoy your retirement, time to let the next batch of riders move the sport onwards.
  2. Think many of the riders with a bit of experience will up their averages nicely like Mountain, Bacon, Bailey, Perks & Wood. Newman is more than capable but might be forced to ride a bit out of position in a poor side. My bigger issue is with the non improvers filling a place for yet another year, Kurtz, Covatti, Harris, Bates etc either riders on the way down lining pockets or going no further but still blocking up places for riders who might.
  3. Definitely a hard decision. One side feels tough on any rider already signed whilst the other i don't like the idea of a more talented rider with a bigger future left without a team place. Im guessing whoever may be replaced will have profiteered from the signing on fee already (much like most of the Worky riders will have done also).
  4. Be very sad is Mason gets stuck without a visa / doesn't come back. Not sure what position that leave Josh MacDonald in either? Im guessing some items will have been purchased already, the whole thing has a knock on effect as many of these riders will get fixed up elsewhere at the expense of an already signed rider.
  5. Forgot / wasn't sure on the reduction bit. Didn't know if conference league rides were being counted the same as NL or whether there was a time restriction? In all fairness it would actually help if all the rules had been published rather than some of them.
  6. I believe Kennett is 9.58 ? 6.39 x 1.5 as the Rye House averages from last year were scrapped.
  7. Awful news gutted for the supporters & riders alike. Plenty of time for dissection later for now its just best wishes to all those affected.
  8. Tragic but true, i had previously worked & socialised with him.
  9. What does it matter as its never enforced anyway. Over the past few seasons with the yellow & black in place ive seen a yellow cover with black quarters added with marker pen, a helmet that had a black and yellow design and the original yellow colour used so if there is no policing it what does it matter? Over the same time i believe i have seen 2 white helmet colours the rest have been a combinations of grey, blue, pink, and many brown. For a radical switch as we are no longer using the tactical joker colour why not have home riders red & blue, away riders black & white, yellow & black so there is actually a design difference between the two.
  10. With the greatest of respect Kieran like many took a NL place before he was ready and now has been tarred with the brush of a struggling rider, a season or so back in the development leagues and he may feature again. Ryan Mac did largely the same in his previous years at Stoke but has been given several opportunities , he sadly is paying the price for his best year yet at Coventry and then the introduction of the 2.00 limit has partially frozen him out.
  11. Very good point, the bond can be made up of actual money or assets which everyone knows are effectively worthless except upon paper. Im still surprised the Harris has the cheek to say he was under paid after some of his Rye House efforts, would have thought £2.50 and a packet of wotsits would have covered it. Its beautifully ironic that riders "can't make it pay" so jack up their prices, put clubs out of business and then don't get paid at all (maybe if they weren't so greedy they would still be taking a wage). Also the bspa, the governing body that has the "best interests of speedway" at its heart is determined to keep Rye House closed and see one of the limited speedway venues the country has lost to the sport.
  12. Don't forget that Kemps "assessed" base average doesn't qualify on the conversion rate as he would have to be 4.5 or more in the Champs (we all know the bitter irony that one more meeting changes everything)
  13. Very surprised Chattin hasn't dropped in somewhere yet. Fear he could be another who's face doesn't fit as compared to several signings he looks a better bet both short and long term.
  14. Would have to disagree to a point, there are plenty of riders who have failed to land team places over the years because either their face didn't fit, were deemed in the wrong location geographically or more often than not over the age of 20. I think there is easily an equal a list of riders who have been paid for their efforts and are equally worthless.
  15. Whilst things have started to improve any training schools that exist are very costly and the Poultec scheme whilst excellent is limited to the privileged few who often can ride at a good level already. I believe Newcastle runs some form of training schools but do not know to what level. How many riders did the now demolished Eastbourne training track help generate?
  16. Harris officially confirmed (shock horror). Actually a good recruit for Cradley and has been steadily improving year on year whilst staying under the radar should be putting 0.5 to a point on his average quite comfortably.
  17. All should improve bar Musielak who i think will drop whilst i think Holder, Thorssell & Kurtz will all stay about the same. Biggest improvers being Lidsey & Wright.
  18. Not that i want it to become a precedent but i suspect there are easily enough riders to fill every reserve berth who would ride the season for travel expenses only (including some of the lucky ones who have landed a spot)
  19. In jest possibly but i do fear that we are on the edge of a pay to ride culture. There has always been influence from sponsors for certain riders to get / keep team places but i wonder how many would pay for a place? Or how many novices would ride for free for a season to get their name out there?
  20. No offence but i feel both of these riders are filling a place that could / should have been given to a newcomer. Both riders have been around for years and achieved beggar all. Even a new 2.00 who didn't score anything would be learning for the future, both these riders "best" days are behind them.
  21. Lydd has been non licenced for years and has made no difference and don't see why it should matter to Rye House either. Riders should be aware that the first aid cover may be lower (but all riders should check that at every track anyway) and if they do get injured don't go to the Ben Fund otherwise let riders get extra laps in as any practice facility is in the "best interests of the sport".
  22. Sadly how many riders are "taught" anything? Speedway is a sport with hardly any training schools and any riders that are capable of progressing don't stay in them for very long anyway. The vast majority have to teach themselves (learn the hard way) with the odd pointer picked up from people around the sport. The result means that the majority of riders progressing into / are currently in the sport are riding the bike full throttle and adapting themselves on the bike to get it round for 4 laps.
  23. Like for like swap, as in there was nothing to get excited about when Burnett signed and no change now.
  24. Any ideas when the AGM(s) take place for the development leagues take place or if they have taken place? Ive seen nothing with regards to the competing teams for 2019 although i believe Weymouth have already completed their squad.
  25. Not going to trawl through the regs but is there anything in place at the moment that states rev limiters are currently allowed? Could they not fall under traction control which is not permitted at present?
