HI all, I hope you don't mind me wanting to get this off my chest. I have been into speedway for about a year and the negativity around the sport really does shock me. Has it always been like this and what do people think has changed and is now worse? I just find it odd reading so much negativity on Facebook and other online sites - This leads me to think that the this must be why a lot of new people may be put off and therefore this may discourage many new fans from getting into the sport. For me, I became very disillusioned with the big money in premier league football and the way players dive around every two seconds and looked at speedway. Many speedway riders come across as very down to earth and are not afraid of a knock or two and just get on with things, In terms of attracting new fans I am sure more seasoned fans will know what is missing but as a new fan I have to admit the despondency is rubbing off on me slightly and I am sure this could be the case for others. To sum up. How do you think we can get the positiveness back?

I have only been into Speedway for just over a year and managed to watch a far bot on Bet365 last year. It seems this service has now gone. Is there anywhere else online that show the sport on a regular basis, as I am really missing the action and find it hard to go to meetings as I do not drive. Cheers all.

Shale that is a top post mate. I am new to speedway. Been into it for about two months and the board did come across as a little foreboding when I first joined. There were a few replies that seemed really negative about the sport and I thought this was bad as speedway seems as though it could do with all the support it can get right now. I have also held back from asking certain questions because it seemed people were more prepared to dig you out for rather than help with any queries. That is not to say that it has all been bad. The forum gives me great insight into the sport and the majority of people seem to be really good posters here and I keep coming back, so something must be right. I am still learning about the sport and i'm not sure if there is one here already but a thread for newbie questions would be good. That way, people replying there will know that the questions are from people not in the know. Just an idea. My next step is actually going to some meetings. I don't drive but I will do my utmost to see the sport live. I buy Speedway Star each week and watch as many live meetings online but for me I want to attend and put money into the sport. Cheers to all that make this forum a really great place to come to for speedway related stuff.

I will be attending Simmo's funeral this afternoon to pay my respects. Simmo was a family friend and the reason I found speedway. The sun is shining and thoughts are with his wife and family today. RIP Super Simmo.

Cheers all, I think haha. No this is not an alias just someone new to the sport that wants to find out more and doesn't mind the banter. My nearest tracks are Arena Essex and Sittingbourne but as I do not drive and work full time but will do my best to get to at least a few meetings. Basically, I was looking for some places to get the basics of the sport. Also, the best places to watch races online and on TV. Seriously, any pointers would be appreciated. Cheers again.

I watched some videos on You Tube and would also like to watch some live races. Any pointers would be great as I am a complete newbie. Cheers in advance.
