  1. Dave Darcy announced as the new owner of Leicester speedway.
  2. I always know when we've got a new postman, or a temporary one because my magazine arrives a day late and is almost always unpicked (slightly opened) in one corner. I guess that's because it's sent in a plain brown envelope. Poor old postie must be gutted when he peeps inside the envelope and sees pictures of men dressed in leathers.......there again.....
  3. Good decision by the BSPA. I personally wouldn't cross the road to watch the mercanary little pillock or his grinning sidekick Handoncock. Bog off and continue to peddle your wares overseas.
  4. I'm sorry bit Simon Lambert has been given two chances at Leicester, at both premier & elite league level & has failed at both. He consistently pulls up before the end of a race & never ever acknowledges the fans at the end of a race. No thanks.
  5. RIP Dave, you were very much a part of the best time in speedway, the 1970's.
  6. I don't care how much money Monster throws at the sport, they should NOT be allowed in the pits area crawling all over their sponsored riders. Red Bull don't do it and neither do any of the other riders sponsors. It's bad enough watching the riders constantly sucking on straws like a bunch of six year olds all the time without the so called Monster pigging Joe gathering his little band of riders round him like some infants school playground gang. Also, in a sport which now allows betting, speedway has to be very careful in my opinion over allegations of race fixing. The sport never recovered fully following the People's expose thirty odd years ago.
  7. Never been fooled by the Mr Nice Guy Crap. Good rider, but he & his monster gang of mercenary bullies are, in my opinion the worst thing that has happened to speedway in a very long time. Can't stand Hancock or Woffinden & as for that tosspot MonsterJoe, get rid quick while speedway still has an ounce of credibility left.
  8. Dave Darcy was interviewed on Radio Leicester this morning (I didn't know Radio Leicester knew we had a speedway team). He stated categorically that the Lions would be riding in the Elite League next season, with new sponsors, although he couldn't say any more until after the AGM.
  9. Meeting postponed again until 22 October. Someone's taking the piss now. Can't be bothered anymore.
  10. I don't post much in here nowadays, but a few things really puzzled me watching last night's meeting. 1) How can Coventry supporters complain about the stadium being sold for redevelopment if they don't bother to turn up to support the sport? 2) How can our sport ever be taken seriously when you have a team manager, who's team is being well and truly thrashed (at that time), standing behind his riders making stupid "bunny" ears, and laughing? 3) How can our sport ever be taken seriously when a team manager being interviewed on Sky, when his team has just been beaten at home, babbles on about wanting to get to the chip shop? I really don't want to see Brandon demolished, but Coventry came across as a bit of an unprofessional joke last night to be honest, with absolutely no passion being shown whatsoever.
  11. Shiny new stadium in Swindon next year? More chance of me porking the Queen.
  12. Is there any other sport that insists on showing one man & his dog in the crowd after every bloody race & one man & his dog when the riders are on the winners rostrum? Oh & Woffinden swigging from his bottle continually during the Danish national anthem, ignorant .......
  13. Sad news to arrive home to. Another of the original websliders who have left us. RIP Shazzy.
  14. And you are very quick to post anything derogatory about the Leicester track too. I know which one I'd rather pay to watch a meeting on.
  15. Don't any Coventry fans ever dare post anything derogatory about the Leicester track again , it's 100% better than this dog turd of a track.
  16. For Christ's sake get Leicester out of this farcical league. Utter utter **** up.
  17. Firstly, I'm not defending anything that David Hemsley, or anyone else connected with the promotion may or may not haver done, or how many people they may or may not have peed off along the way. What I am saying is that: 1) For three years & more we have had people like Volty, Robert72 etc. continually banging on about the track over & over again to the point that it just looks desperate & childish. We got the message a very long time ago. I personally think the track is far from perfect & needs sorting out, but regardless of whether that work is ever done, I have made a conscious decision to support my team & continue to pay my entrance money every week. That is my decision & the decision of every other person who chooses to do the same. If however you are so unhappy with the track, or any other aspect regarding Leicester speedway, then you have the option of not attending, & if enough people choose to stay away, then there are two options left for the people who run the business, they either close the thing down, or they make the necessary changes. The people who continually knock everything Leicester in here are perfectly entitled to make their feelings known, & they too can either support the team or stay at home. What doesn't help anyone is the constant repetitive posts made over & over again, which, after three years have lost any credibility. I hope that changes to the track will be made eventually, but I'm not holding my breath. 2) As far as the "bumper night's takings" robbery is concerned, does it really matter if it was the BSPA's money, or Leicester speedway's? It still doesn't alter the fact that the latest break in is the third serious blow to the business in three years. How many times can the speedway keep running if incidents like this continue (Milton Keynes anyone)? I certainly do have a sense of humour, & try to be as fair as possible with people, but last night, after only just hearing about the break in, I had a look at the forum expecting just a tiny smidgeon of sympathy....how wrong can you be. A bit of banter hurts no one, but I thought it went way beyond that. Maybe I'm just getting old. Anyway, I'll leave everyone to their own opinions & just keep supporting my team for as long as they continue. Lt.
  18. No you wouldn't if it was the first time something like this had happened. We have already had a break in where someone set fire to the pits area caused extensive damage, plus the loss of a bumper night's takings due to a robbery. Scunthorpe suffered from break-ins, theft & damage a couple of years ago, & came very close to closing through it, but I don't recall anyone thinking it was remotely funny at the time. More recently, Edinburgh have had the same problem, but again nobody thought it was a big joke, & will you all be laughing in three years time when Coventry gets demolished? Call my over sensitive & lacking a sense of humour by all means, but all I ever read on this forum are negative, repetitive, snidey comments about Leicester & the Leicester promotion. no, we don't have a perfect racetrack by any means, but the club doesn't deserve the constant barrage of bad publicity it receives in here. It would, in my opinion, be a sad loss to speedway if it was forced to close through no fault of the club's. I guess my lack of humour is my own fault, I should know better than to even look at the forum, even rarely, these days. Lt.
