Replacing Ben Barker's points with an equal scorer is probably impossible. I believe Matej Kus scored more points at Berwick than any other rider last season, so why shouldn't he be as good a guest as you're going to find? Who else would be better, at Berwick, on Saturday?
-
It isn't only the visiting fans who would pay £12 -- and how much of that fee do you think the staging promoter would get?
-
The gate money is going to Theo Pijper, one of the riders in Scottish speedway who deserves a meeting, and I'd hope it'll be well-supported. Theo is already on record that he won't interfere with the Rico event at Lakeside, and it is hardly his fault there have been call-offs. Speedway people should decide if they're going or not, that's their prerogative. No need to shout on here about it being a rip-off, or declare their non-attendance in advance.

Is this £1,000 set of kevlars (a rather-inflated price, but...) his own personal property, or one of a set of Peterborough team suits? Just asking.
-
You're not?

Your newsletter reported how Berwick have been the biggest contributors to the SRBF collections for five out of the past six years. How can such a small club achieve such wonderful generosity?
-
Might it be that the riders who are still with their 2014 club/employer have had their 2- or 3-year visas automatically reactivated as soon as the club had had a (new) sponsor licence approved?

Found this thread, and laughed myself silly at the new Scunny nick-name!
-
The match was run in full, but certain Berwick riders were clearly considering their averages, and pulled onto the grass in some races. There was also a second half, with 'real' racing. Belle Vue were fined £1,000 for refusing to turn up.

The superb piece by Andrew Skeels on Shawfield is especially relevant, given that the Tigers are again trying to wreak a revival.

Leave it mate. Hornet's nest if you don't.

What Are You Looking Forward To This Season?
smod replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm looking forward to all thirteen clubs finishing the season. -
Training sessions: 22.5 All participants must be SCB Registered, (a One-Event Training Registration for British domiciled Nationals only is permitted; a copy of which must be attached to the Training Session Signing-On Form that is posted to the SCB within 48 hours. The Parent / Guardian of a Youth Rider must countersign all documents where appropriate. Would an Australian who has not got a work permit be SCB Registered? As Tsunami has been urging, let's drop this one (although it looks as though the SCB would have learned about Ty Proctor riding at Scunny within 48 hours, anyway).

Quite agree that paying in every week, perhaps buying 50-50 tickets too, is all good. But if one is going to poke mr dyson, asking what he's chipping in, then one has to expect to be asked the same thing.
-
There's clearly a conduit by which some Aussies can enter the EU -- not just the two Monarchs, but Ty Proctor has been sighted, and Rohan Tungate, I believe?
-
How much are you, Tourettes?
-
Sounds interesting. Where would I get a copy of that dvd?
-
Ah. A clear thinker. And your suggestion for replacements? And the funding thereof?
-
Edinburgh's favourite inside source has announced that Sedgmen and Masters are in Scotland, and I think Rohan T is already over here too. Obviously, these guys are cleared in OK (ie, they didn't arrive under a container-lorry at Felixstowe) so what exactly is the story about riders getting, or not getting, entry visas?
-
Not good in terms of exposure for the sponsorship if you, a regular, have to ask that. Sponsorship should be a two=way street, and the club should make as much noise about a continuing deal as they would about a new sponsor taking over.

Edinburgh supporters have today announced a new Monarchs Fans Trust, explaining an awareness that their promotion lose money each week and have admitted to five-figure losses over each of the last few seasons. These supporters are rightly alarmed by the statement that, if the promotion make a similar loss in 2015, they will CLOSE. The Trust is being formed, by supporters, to offer direct financial assistance. At Glasgow, the brave new ownership have recently set up a new amalgamated Supporters Club which under their control will raise funding to help ease a huge financial burden on the owners as they attempt to refurbish the stadium and reverse huge operating losses incurred over the past three or four years. But in Berwick, when a similarly-placed loss-making promotion approaches their Supporters Club to ask if a contribution can be made from their funds to help defray heavy operating losses, literally to pay outstanding bills, the committee there choose not to get involved in what might, to an outsider, be seen as throwing the promotion a lifeline to keep going. Further, the committee then announces a change in their consitution, presumably meaning their funds will not in future be made available to ease the promotion's pecuniary problems? As I see it, the resulting creation of Berwick's new VIP Club is a necessary parallel to the Monarchs Fans Trust or the Tigers' new Supporters Club, and all three promotions will have to rely on assistance from these groups if they are to continue to provide speedway for their followers. I hope it is understood the poster who quoted Joni Mitchell's lyrics wasn't posting a smart one-liner -- they were posting a very real warning.

Drop his price?
-
It looks as though some of the suggestions in this post should be considered.......
-
Meaning that the Supporters' Cub have decided to stop helping the promotion? In which case.....
-
Not necessarily. Rule 16.1.2 states that, if he's an NL rider "an arrangement can be made", only if that isn't "arranged" would the EL club take priority. Having said that, I'd guess CVS might just be quicker to "arrange" things than Peterborough.
