  1. Any outsider reading Poole’s statement on Basso would think that there was a degree of loyalty within the sport. Loyalty should be a two way street. In speedway, riders can be signed up and moved on within weeks if they don’t hit the ground running. Nobody is more ruthless in doing this than Poole. Money talks, get used to it.
  2. Will you be changing your user name to BassoontoGlasgow?
  3. Not to be confused with riders moving at the start........called ***king cheaters!
  4. If Howarth is on board I reckon there is about 4.4 left for the remaining position (please not Sarj!).
  5. Just in case anyone is confused, there is no Joe Thompson, just Dan & Joe, who are twins…….both of them. Oops… I meant there is no Tom Thompson.
  6. Totally get your point but that would require a second string averaging over 5, which then compromises the third heat leader strength. Decisions, decisions!
  7. Your argument needs to be based on what was known at the start of the season rather than reflect on what should have happened, we can all do that, it’s not that clever. Average returns from Bates & Proctor should have put no pressure for Dan & Joe to deliver away. The twins came in on low assessed averages, just keeping the team total under the limit. Their combined average uplift is higher than that achieved by Hume & Mountain since the start of the season. A team is built around 7 riders, rarely starting from reserves upwards. With your vision you may want to spend your time managing a speedway team rather than keep posting here!
  8. Blindingly obvious my a*se! When a team is assembled at the start of a season, it is with a view that riders will either up their existing average or at least maintain the one that they are on. If Bates and Proctor had delivered on the latter (as we know this went t*ts up), both twins would have remained at reserve. The twins had never raced at this level previously but finished with a combined average uplift of almost 4 points.
  9. If I've done my sums correctly, I reckon that leaves 4.37 left for the final position. That would mean that Dan would remain in the 1 to 5 and not drop back to reserve (his comfort zone). There isn't much out there for that figure. Sarjeant would fit, but no thanks!
  10. What in the Championship? What would their averages be for team building? Think you might be getting a bit carried away here!
  11. Best way to have averages matching form is to reduce the rolling 20 match average to 1 match. Sorted.
  12. Whilst I’m a big fan of Howarth and love his attitude, I think we need someone of Worrall’s stature for the other heat leader berth to give us the clout for the all important heats 13 & 15. For someone like that though, a rider with an average below 5.00 would be required for the final team position. Three strong heat leaders would be my approach, allowing for other team members sharing good and not so good meetings to provide the important additional points. This was the Poole model that won the league this year. I’m pretty sure that the Peterborough team structure that won the Premiership is likely to be a one off in terms of success.
  13. Agreed. His average is higher than Dan Thompson's which would move Dan back to a reserve berth, which is his comfort zone. This of course assumes that none of the remaining riders have a lower average than Mountain (hope not!) unless we go top heavy again. All down to team building points limit, which of course remains a secret.
  14. We are in search of 1 maybe 2 heat leaders and are being told that some former riders will return. No one has mentioned Eric Riss?
  15. Lions team news next week (to be drip fed over several weeks no doubt). Reading between the lines, I would imagine that Howard will be retained as he was Dickson’s rider of the season. Whatever the points limit is to be for team building, I can see 2 of the top 4 not returning. Someone on here will know a lot more and no doubt inform us!
  16. Main sponsors and Dickson are on board again for next season. So far so good for me.
  17. Looks like Poole don’t have much to chose from on the guest front (assuming riders from play off teams aren’t an option). The rider with the next highest average to Schlein is Ben Barker and his average is almost a point less than Rory’s! Only Worrall wouldn’t be able to take an extra ride so R/R might be their best bet (like I really care!).
  18. A one legged man at an arse kicking contest would seem an appropriate answer to your question. Enthusiasm is one thing, cockiness is something else. Oh hang on, poiruts up by six on the night! Hope the shipping forecast doesn’t hamper your journey to Leicester for the return leg. No high winds predicted for the weekend but probably a good idea to securely strap your parrot to your shoulder for the journey. Before you ask, no, I don’t think that the bar at BP stocks rum. Poole is actually a very nice part of the country, but I cannot understand why it’s speedway supporters seem to be so arrogant. Smacks of a juvenile mentality where they think they are a big fish in small puddle (yes, not pond, this speedway) in a sport that is not even recognised by the BBC (check their website). Piss taking aside, happy to buy you a beer on Saturday should you want to make yourself known to me!
