  1. Wow! And my other half accuses me of collecting useless stuff! The original outline proposals for BP included an enclosed multi use main stand that could be used by the community during the week as an additional income stream……….Is this tucked away in your garage by chance?
  2. On the subject of first bend tangles, I seem to recall back in the seventies that there was a simple marker post on the centre green about 20m from the start line. (They had it at Leicester so I assume it was at all tracks). The idea/rule was that riders were not supposed to move out of their theoretical starting lane before that marker point. I'm not sure how well it was implemented (referee's discretion I suppose), but I do not recall anywhere near as many re-starts from first bend incidents. Also, the red light went on for a race to be stopped, the race never re-started without someone being excluded. Are my recollections correct?
  3. Tonight was my first visit to the Showground and I thought that the racing was top notch. That was because I saw all riders having a real go and Bagpuss is right, the outcome was down to that little bit of quality on top of effort. Criticism of the Panthers’ riders is a little harsh. It was a little sad driving back to Leicester knowing that was likely to be my only visit to this track. Now that I’ve seen the place, I’m more frustrated than ever to see yet another(…..yawn….) great track disappear into the history books.
  4. Just cover the straights and leave the bends. If the dogs can build up enough speed on the straights they could be trained to lean and slide the bends (they’re clever creatures you know)…….I’ll get my coat.
  5. Morris is already reviewing his set up for his next Foxhall visit. Putting glue on his a*se will be the first priority!
  6. In response to someone posting something irrelevant to this thread and with no apparent sense of humour…………Yes.
  7. Only followed the updates, but it seems that the Lions can hold their heads up tonight. Fewer last places than Ipswich, but when scores are tight, they will almost always outscore the opposition (home or away) in heats 13 to 15. R/R yielded 9 points, so can’t really use that as an excuse for Lawson’s absence. At the start of the season the gaffer said that Sedgmen and Allen would be jockeying for a reserve berth. The way Justin ‘Sedgsation’ (cheesy I know, but tabloid journalists make a living conjuring up such crap) is going, he’s more likely to be troubling the third heat leader slot.
  8. Sorry mate, this is neither a Panthers or Samaritan’s thread, but stay away from bridges and railway lines anyway. Congratulations on the Panthers result the other night although some betting investigations have raised concerns as there is apparently reasonable evidence that some Peterborough riders were deliberately winning races.
  9. Loved seeing the Lions all click tonight and with my Speedway neutral hat on, it was wonderful to see two teams with their declared 1 to 7 on track, which let’s face it is like rocking horse sh*t these days. I’ll stick my neck out and predict that there will be no more than a dozen meetings like this for the remainder of the season.
  10. That's a bit unfair, they'd more than hold their own in the NDL.
  11. Yeah, get rid of the team manager. Those young kids (Andersen & Iversen) need all the encouragement they can get don’t they to gain confidence for this level of racing? Are you serious? Seasoned professionals should be self motivated if their earnings are performance related. Score more points, earn more money, why does the team manager need to hug the old farts you refer to?
  12. Damn right they are fuming……. They’d offered February 30th and told the UK they should be grateful.
  13. Can’t answer your question but hats off to you for appearing to have maintained interested in this joke of a competition.
  14. This is what happens when your No.1 does his job. I’ve been quite critical of Max, but hats off to him tonight, he really seemed up for it. Onwards and upwards. Loving watching Sedgmen at the moment, goodness knows what he has to do get an outing in heat 15!
  15. Can confirm that there is a rumour, you’ve started it.
  16. On the subject of race fixing there are rumours of something suspicious at King’s Lynn recently. Without naming names, someone (let’s refer to him as Christopher Crackerjack) appeared to deliberately win five races!
  17. Really? I’m judging him here and now and on what he is not doing and who is beating him on his home track. He’s only had three home meetings, but is being beaten by visiting riders who have never seen the track before and aren’t heat leaders. But give him time eh? What must the rest of the team think when their No.1 is a passenger and a GP rider at that?
  18. Fricke has appeared in heat 15 in the three home meetings to date. Based on his performances in his programmed rides, it begs the question as to whether he should have been nominated for this heat. His total points return in this final heat is ………one. The majority of people on this forum seem quite chilled about Max ‘give him time, needs to get used to the track etc’ but he really does need to get himself sorted ASAP. Excuses for his sub standard performances are rapidly drying up.
  19. The only riders who have an excuse for needing to get to know their own track are Allen and Sedgmen. Allen is struggling a bit but still chipping in with a few points. Sedgmen already looks very much at home and has so far exceeded most people’s expectations. Lawson, Harris and Morris all know this track and are there or thereabouts so far. The narrow home defeats (tonight was a defeat to me) point the finger mainly at Fricke for me. He’s our number one, a GP rider at that. For a rider of that status, I would have expected him to have sussed out the track/set up by now. For the record, he has been beaten by visiting reserves in two of the three home meetings so far. It’s also worrying that he’s been sent out for heat 15 in each meeting and has only scored one point in total.
  20. Not calling the shots at all. Just a comment from someone who will be shelling out for three home meetings in a week and getting right behind my team but telling it like it is……….R Sole.
  21. Tomorrow will be Fricke’s third home meeting. I’m expecting nothing less than a double figure score from him. I can’t accept any excuses beyond tomorrow for him getting used to the track. He is a Grand Prix rider. Hopefully Emil’s performance on Monday will be the wake up call he needs. Regardless of his status, Dickson’s patience is no doubt already being tested. Max does seem like a nice chap and we are all desperate for him to be a success. Riding against his previous club will hopefully be an additional motivation.
  22. Whilst the Witches could have the most race winners, heat advantages may be a problem for them. The Lions middle/lower order riders need to be on their game. If this Witches team is to be beaten, the hard work needs to be done before heat 13 as I think that Ipswich will almost always outscore teams home and away over the last three heats.
  23. Do I believe him? If he wished me good morning I'd go and look out of the window to make sure it wasn't dark!
  24. Oh dear, this is so depressing I’m going to listen to a Smiths album to cheer me up.
