We all want to see the best riders over here regardless of which team we follow. Nice one Brum! What average does Freddie come in on?
-
I’m sure Doug was a nice guy but my lasting memory of him was him taking out his team mate Ray Wilson on the fourth bend at Blackbird Road. Poor Ray ended up on the dog track and then spent some time in hospital. Pretty sure Ray never represented the Lions again after that and then joined Birmingham. I think that Doug remained at Leicester for another season or so but would welcome any comments correcting my memories of events nearly 50 years ago!

Sheffield v Leicester 23rd May

Only going by the Updates website, but an average performance from Fricke would have got the Lions over the line. Dickson will be furious. -

Guilty as charged then! I swear that there was nothing there at the time but probably didn’t scroll down enough.Apologies to all at the Den! -

Thank you for starting this thread. There is still no preview for this on the Speedway GB or Lions website, only on the Sheffield site. I was going to highlight this apathetic approach to the Lions management………..but then couldn’t be arsed. -
Very respectable performance from the Stars based on my reading of the updates site. Probably could have made more of the reserves looking at Lawson and Klindt's scores it seems? The R/R return of 3 points must be frustrating. You would expect Musielak to score about 9 points, which may have tipped the balance on the night? We'll never know of course! This showing will hopefully lift morale at Lynn considering the apparent dark cloud (the one Buster calls upon when convenient!) hanging over the club.
-
No, the speedway community don't want a team to suffer, but they will not tolerate a club manipulating/breaking rules to survive. Its unethical and Lynn should not expect sympathy from anyone. As has been pointed out on numerous occasions, its Buster's fault for not assembling a competitive team from the outset. He is not bigger than the sport and I hope the outcome of SCB review will be something to remind him of this.
-
There’s still life in the broken pit gate latch excuse of course now that Wilko have folded and replacements will be difficult to find at short (several weeks) notice. Outside of speedway Buster should be credited for what he has achieved in life. His education was hindered due to his dog consistently eating his homework.

Substitute ‘sport’ for ‘club’. For all the criticism Buster has had on this forum to date, I’ve always given him the benefit of the doubt, but this has raised the piss take level. Injuries/absences are part of sport and a massive part of speedway in particular. This is basically an admission that he daren’t field any team to further weaken his declared crap 1 to 7. Would love to see Buster’s reaction if a depleted team were due to visit Lynn and the BSPA were advised at the last minute that the visitors wanted to cry off because their number one had a runny nose. It would seem that assembling a competitive team is not essential if you have a large vault of piss poor excuses.

Leicester v Witches 02/05

When you have three riders who cannot beat an opponent between them, it’s surprising that the score was as close as it was! Did Dickson show up for the after match interview? (Can’t be bothered to stop after the final race anymore). -
LIONS v BIRMINGHAM 25/4/24

Put assessed and rolling averages to one side. Their top two in the averages for this season so far are Brennan and Worrall. Enough said! -

Maybe, but you surely have to beat the visitor’s RS? Flint did Joe three times tonight. -

Here’s me thinking that Joe might have turned the corner after his performance last week, but he looked way off the pace again tonight. Very worrying when you can’t get a point at home against the weakest team in the league. I thought that he may have be given a fourth ride in heat 14 instead of Kemp, but no. His confidence must be rock bottom. -

Dickson has since switched Lawson and Becker’s riding positions. With all due respect to Brum, what is he expecting to learn from this tomorrow? I’m yet to be convinced that riding order is a factor in the outcome of a meeting result. -
Kings Lynn vs Sheffield - Monday 22nd April
Teromaafan replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The BBC forecast is far onerous that that of the Met Office……Luckily for Buster! -
Really, I’ve just bought it five minutes ago?

Dickson has reverted back to the original riding order after the Brum win. Fricke needs to come to the party sooner rather than later. When he does, the riding order of the other four won’t matter.

Birmingham v Leicester 15th April 2024

Any decent rider, IF available would only hold Brum to ransom and want guarantees rather than a performance related deal. Although Tolley did imply that money was not an obstacle in their team building before their full line up was declared. That was always going to bite him in the a*se and I wonder how comfortably he’s sitting lately! -

Must admit, I didn’t think it would be that easy for the Lions. Fricke continues to under perform but everyone contributed for the visitors, with either a win or paid win. I still think that Brum have one of the best reserve pairings (Flint is better than that tonight), but they have no top end or middle order! The assessed averages of their top two would appear to flatter them at the moment but they should be judged in a few weeks time when their actual average will reflect their performances. Dickson’s riding order shuffle will make him look clever tonight, but it would have made no difference to the meeting outcome. In his defence though, I admire him for looking to do something after consecutive home defeats. -

With Scotty in for Lampart, this is possibly the strongest 1-7 Brum will field all season and I’m expecting them to break their duck against the Lions. I can only see the Lions reserve pairing woe continuing comparing with Cook & Flint for the home team. Really don’t get the point of Dickson’s riding order shuffle and I doubt that this will be a factor whatever the result is tomorrow. The weather forecast is putting me off making the trip to Perry Barr and I think I’ll opt for the live stream instead. What is Brum’s stream covering like? -
Joe apparently had a nasty crash last night. If he isn’t fit for the Lions at Brum on Monday, what are the options to cover for an absent RS?
-
It’s a very competitive league this year with teams generally stronger, which is good for the sport. Teams that will make the play offs will be the ones that have top end fire power when scores are tight entering the last three heats. For Leicester to win tight matches, Fricke has to up his game (although tonight he looked a little better) to give the Lions any chance in these situations. The reserves are a worry as many have predicted. At the moment, the Lions are just grateful for wins and bonus points appear to be a pipe dream.
-
Interesting. Riders with the two highest averages paired together (although there’s only a gnats between second and fifth in the averages). I’ve never been convinced that matches are won or lost due to the riding order. I wonder if that is a one off for the Brum match or if he is thinking beyond Monday.
