  1. Pointing out that Allen has said he might not retire (despite it being said on here he is) now merits this kind of reply……the feeling of self-importance some have on here really is pitiful.
  2. No argument here it was a question of curiosity. That being said, I haven’t flown a spaceship before, and that I really want to/would like to doesn’t mean I would be able to, and nor does it mean I would be telling Buzz Aldrin how to fly one.
  3. Sounds like you could be a real help, have you prepped many tracks before?
  4. I assume availability would be a problem but Matt Tresarrieu would be a very good signing.
  5. Of course not, it doesn’t make Berwick threads any less cringing though.
  6. The irony of your post isn't lost on me, there is an ignore function on here. It is is entirely understandable that a pretty large percentage of Berwick’s support would be repulsed by the impression that a select few on here have give of Berwick fans. It’s embarrassing and it is the reason why Berwick threads are openly mocked by fans of other clubs. It gives of an impression that isn’t in anyway befitting of what Berwick fans are actually like, hence my comment about the Q& section in the Speedway Star that is Berwick fans are actually like.
  7. Excellent choice Bjerre would have been my first choice given the limited options available but I could see the logic in choosing Kus, but getting Bjerre in rather than R/R at such short notice is a smart move. Booking guests must be a logistical nightmare at times.
  8. And if it is deserved so he should. Based on the Q&A in the star it is done in equal measure, really refreshing. It is balanced, informative and responsible articles like that which make you remember that social reporting, while it has it’s bonuses will always have its absolute pitfalls in that it also affords a platform to the absolute dregs of society to voice their thoughts and opinions, which, while an opinion, often holds absolutely no credibility what so ever. IMO
  9. I don’t know if they post on here or not but the Berwick fan Q&A in this week’s Speedway Star was really good. It was actually quite refreshing reading and remembering that the cynicism often shown on here isn’t actually reflected among the wider Berwick support. IMO.
  10. His average around Berwick is 9.00 (including some absolutely crap meetings while he was low on confidence with Redcar). The only riders with higher averages are riders like Ricky, Complin, Allen, McGowan, Stead, Niemenin, Lawson and Doyle who for one reason or another can’t be used. Grajczonek and Fisher are racing at Plymouth, King is at Leicester and with Edinburgh visiting next week it is understandable that you would want to offer either Cook or Masters as little track time as possible. And even if they had have been available I wouldn’t have been that bothered for a Newcastle or Workington rider, decent sides, but neither have top end strength The EL riders who would fit would all be gambles given the lack of track time around Berwick. The only logical alternative I can see is Bjerre who quite possibly has commitments on the continent?
  11. Pretty slim I would assume if recent history is anything to go by (which it is when odds are decided). When Berwick’s number 1 was injured previously (2013) guests like Cook, Morris and Barker were used, and it is only a couple of days since Lasse Bjerre was booked. There isn’t really any tangible evidence to suggest a bookie would give you decent odds on R/R rather than a guest for Berwick at Number 1.
  12. I am quite happy going along with what I know when it comes to that one rather than any hyperbole that might be written on here, thanks.
  13. If he ends the season with a 6.00 average Berwick will be in with a shout of a league win If he ends the season with an average above 4.00 he will have achieved more than Barrett has thus far in his British career. The non-retention of an asset like Bellego is pretty disappointing (but understandable from the explanations given) . Not having Barrett in the side isn’t what will define Berwick’s season, though I hope the move to Workington works out for him.
  14. A great service on offer from both The more fans attending speedway at any track the better, doesn’t really matter how they get there.
  15. You have referenced A4 sheets of paper that are left around Berwick promoting the football yet their attendance is typically comparable or lower to the speedway despite your earlier point that it is the most effective method of promotion, tangible evident confirms it isn’t. If you’re exposable rescore is stretched as it is I am not entirely convinced that pandering to a Caravan site is a smart move. You aren’t going to encourage repeat custom, the people are on holiday attending a Caravan site where the typical attendee is there for the attractions on the site and you are also only going to see a short term attendance burst over a 2 or 3 month period, probably not enough to shift the needle. As Lioness has suggested a far more sustainable, viable and longer term promotion strategy is to target schools (as far as I am aware that has been ongoing axcross the country, not just at Berwick) where you are more likely to grow your weekly fan base rather than short bursts of fans who even if they enjoy it probably won’t be back as they won’t be in the area the week after. All this being said, promotions up and down the country have invested in promoting the sport and have carried out the majority of the ideas suggested on this forum. I personally think there is a slight ignorance to suggest that people aren’t aware of speedway. I don’t think 10 or 12 bits of A4 paper left around a caravan site will make a massive difference to Berwicks attendances. The general attendance trajectory since the early 80s, suggest people simply just don’t care. And while ideas like topsoil are to be applauded, attracting new fans, you can’t do that at the risk of alienating the fans you do attract.
  16. Do you not think they might stop attending if they are asked to continue paying full price while people who are in the area for a week are left in free in the hope they might come back, even though they are on holiday and probably travelled from miles away to be there?
  17. Berwick Rangers average attendance is about 450 people, it doesn't really show a return on the promotion. How do you explain that kind of promotion to people who turn up every week and pay the standard admission?
  18. From reading the statement from the Supporters club the general tone, for me anyway, isn’t that they are upset. The only people that I can see who are upset by it or trying to create a friction are posters on here, if anything the supporters club statement only reiterates that. “This is what has happened, now to the people who are making their own stories up and pointing fingers and making the supporters club out to be some kind of club hating bunch I would like to remind you all of something, WE LOVE SPEEDWAY, that's why we do what we do voluntarily, we have worked closely with the club for years and we genuinely wish Berwick Bandits Speedway Club the best of Luck with everything they do, without them working their backsides off week in week out we wouldn't get to see our beloved Bandits!”
  19. If the money raised is going to the speedway club what difference does it make where it comes from?
  20. I know the team, sponsors, fixtures and ticket cost. If you really want to know it isn’t that hard to find out.
  21. If it applied to the dross I would have included the word excuses. When riders like Crump, Lindgren (the good one) and even a rider like Richie Worral make reference to it, it blows the opinion of a person who posts on a speedway forum out the water
  22. A fit Mellgren will contribute more than a talented, but half arsed Garrity. I think Rye have quite a good team, they are stronger now than when they signed their original 1-7.
  23. I will go with the thoughts, comments and “opinions” of the people who actually ride a speedway bike. Their “opinion” holds a lot more weight
  24. Is Skidmore screwed even with a 6.99 average? I have seen reference to dual nationality but can’t remember him racing NL/coming in on a 3.00 average (though they might be wrong/not even criteria)
