  1. How do I get that chain of thought? Well based on the poster continually making reference to what he and others think, it comes across as some sort desperation to validate what he is saying, it's almost an attempt to actually create a new flock of sheep who just disagree with the other sheep, as well as that an attempt was made to abuse others who disagree and bring closure to the thread as though that would be some sort of victory, where as it just comes across a bit Gestapo Grouping people together because they sort of say things that are the same and then creating a straw man is a bit odd...people think he may have used the British Speedway system to his advantage, there is flavours that suggest that might have been a thought at some stage.
  2. You make reference to “sheep” yet continually use the comments of others to validate your posts….posts on a thread that you are fed up with…yet continue to post on. A thread where you have taken a step back and actually thought about what you were posting before falling for a post soaked in sarcasm….all the while openly questioning the intelligence of others.
  3. There has not been any time in recent history that Nicholls, King, Buzcowski, Hougaard, Andersen, Ulamek, Masters, Lindgren and Kennets current performance levels wouldn’t have been Number 1 in the PL standard The EL as it currently stands is weak, but put some context on it at least
  4. It is getting to a stage where quite a lot of people are happy to sit on their arse and watch a product rather than attend and thus streaming etc benefits some sports, I am not convinced Speedway is one of them. It is great pointing at other sports that use streaming like UFC, WWE and NFL but they are huge companies who generally pack out the stadia they are showing with the people who do want to attend sports paying excessive money to attend.. Speedway is a sport that gets about 700 people standing in a field in generally pretty crap weather…stream that, chances are you end up with 500 in attendance and 50 people paying £10 less than they would have to watch it on a stream. It would evidently require research but a Speedway Network probably wouldn’t get the numbers to justify it, throw in people then illegally streaming that, sharing accounts etc it would accelerate closures IMO.
  5. A score line that confirms what most know, they have made a complete and utter mess of points limits and reserve grades, if score lines like this continue (most likely will) you could put forward a decent case for scrapping points limits and just letting sides do what they wish. At least if there wasn’t a points limit you could take some heart that the top sides are just built stronger through natural wealth of talent rather than rule anomalies It must be grim for Kings Lynn basically knowing that Rose and Wilkinson aren’t going to score more than Worrall and Jacobs and the Belle Vue top 5 will always out score them but there isn’t a way to negate that by bringing in a strong reserve to compensate for the lack of top end power etc and so on.
  6. I highly doubt anyone on here even “knows” Woffinden let alone being able to seemingly know his underhand motives. The persona (some) have created since his statement is completely bizarre, those against think he has manipulated the entire system and those for him think he now sees British Speedway as a joke, the British Final is crap and everyone is all a shower of little Englanders with their heads in the sand who don’t see the bigger picture (doesn’t do Woffinden any favours by the way even if you are trying to support him) RE: Woffinden I hope he wins 7/8 or even 9 World Titles, more power to him. He could even win 10. I only wish that for him because I “hate” him though. In real terms though it won’t matter to me (or his “lovers”) as much as it does to Woffinden and in 10/20 years’ time or so when he has chucked it, it is likely British Speedway (which is what does matter to me) will have seen little from it if his non-attendance in the leagues continues, his decision to skip the Final has probably only magnified that This is a British Speedway Forum, generally populated by people who support British Speedway, it seems pretty natural people would be irked when they see what they perceive to be an action that damages it taking place, and while it can be argued that the sport has changed etc, most people won’t care for that point as the safety of the sport here matters to them more than the changing land scape of the sport. Yes there are other factors at play in terms of the slow demise in this country, but Woffinden racing here a bit more often would help rather than him not being here and contributing to one of the 1,000 cuts killing the sport, saying that does not mean you "hate" him
  7. Ow let’s not stop at asking what the British Final means now, If you really want to strip it back, other than another step on the road to a World Final what has the British Final ever meant? I mean really, who cares who won it 15 years ago, how many people even know the answer of the top of their head? If you are of that mind-set though, you could can go so much further, the “prestige” of being Speedway World Champion doesn’t mean a whole lot to anyone other than Speedway fans if you really want to be uberly pedantic about it so why bother competing in that? My own personal answer re the British Final would be that it means the same thing now that it did 20/30 years ago, being the best rider in your country and the prestige that comes with that (along with the sponsorship I would assume) All that being said the argument of “the British Final is crap anyway” is a completely straw man argument, it is no more or less “crap” than it was last year, 5 years ago or 10 years ago AND in fact isn’t even actually the reason why Woffinden has pulled out. It’s a defence you and the other poster have created for Woffinden, and it is completely rancid in all honesty when contrast to the reason he used, which is a pretty logical and fair point re pulling out the meeting and applies only to him from British World Champions thus far (as far as I am aware?) The disappointing thing in all of this, as I said, while actually not “missing the point” is that the “prestige” of the meeting is only lowered when a competitor and current World Champion decides not to race in it, there isn’t even the need to investigate the wider issues of his decision to pull out though as he has literally already explained why. Tai wants to focus on the World Title, good for him, that though doesn’t mean British Speedway has to change to accommodate Woffinden as the next British World Champion will more than likely race in the British Final when fit, you know like all the others one have done before Woffinden….because the meeting had “prestige” back then because riders didn’t tend to pull out of it.
  8. You make reference to the British Final being a meeting packed with riders who have haven’t achieved anything, if the best rider and current World Champion decides to pull out then yes it absolutely is that…..if not it is the meeting where the World Champion is racing which adds to its importance.
  9. The notion that he has pulled out because he might not win it is rather funny…. While all speedway riders are nomads as such Woffinden is going a long way to becoming the person who belongs to no one, that might do him damage later down the line when trying to attract sponsors.
  10. Looking at the table I cannot see the side that I would put serious cash on to win at Edinburgh, to put context to that statement, for Edinburgh to finish as low as some are predicting (8th) they will need to lose 3 or 4 league meetings at home. Yes teams change and while they inevitably won’t be the force they were they still have riders like Masters, Wolbert and Fisher who will win the majority of races around Armadale, that alone will ensure a top 5 finish (at least) IMO. The same logic probably applies re Somerset, both sides record in recent year suggests that anything other than a top 5 finish is highly unlikely. It is likely muscle memory of other sides alone will lead to them thinking bonus point from those tracks (Edinburgh and Somerset) are, a….bonus, rather than targeting a win as they are likely to do at a Scunthrope or Redcar. They (Edinburgh and Somerset) Glasgow, Newcastle and possibly Sheffield will likely make up the Play Off chasing sides, albeit it Sheffield possibly have stupid results at home in them if Stead has injury problems. Peterborough and Ipswich both look a bit iffy to me, they are “gettable” against decent sides and more likely to lose the 3 or 4 home league meetings that will lead to a mid/lower-table finish. I could actually see the league splitting in two quite quick with the top bunch and a best of the rest between Peterborough, Ipswich, Rye, Berwick and Workington. They sides look to have as many daft performances in them as they do good ones for me. Redcar and Scunthorpe trailing behind (with current 1-7s)
  11. That’s an incredibly skewed point to make against Newman given he was miles away from being the ability level of those riders at the time. He was only plugged into a reserve position that season to fill a gap, it isn’t like he was at the level of those riders and hasn’t progressed, that season was the first one he really established himself as a PL reserve never mind EL. He will likely remain miles off the level of Doyle, given he is now one of the best riders in the world and Pawlicki given he is one of the best talents in the world, I don’t see that as something to beat him with given 100s of other riders are miles off the level Doyle reached last season, as for the others is Newman miles off the level of Morris, Summers or North, no, not for me he isn’t (which is just as much down to their lack of progress since 2011) he could quite easily be at the level of Summers by the time he reaches his age as well, Morris might kick on again he might not but if he doesn't he is "catchable" if Newman at it the way he appears to. All that being said it is actually entirely possible Newman and Garrity will have very decent careers and race for Team GB, I am not seeing the riders who will stop them doing that, as well as that it is also possible just to enjoy the work both do without constantly comparing and contrasting them and just appreciate they are both young British riders working and trying their best to progress as they see fit, one has taken the bold move to step up to the 1-5 the other has found a place on the continent that’s a good thing it is something worth applauding.
  12. Found David Howes comments in the Star interesting (be worth pushing for the PL punditry on Sky) imagine if Scott keeps TJs confidence
  13. 5.00 if some clubs wanted him 7.00 for others and 3.00 for the lucky ones
  14. Jake Allens going to be good isn't he....that's annoying
  15. Poor taste is leaving people out of a job after promising them one for months...it's the owners fault not other fans
  16. Surely under normal circumstances they would book a guest? The idea that sides built for strength can cover there missing number 1 with R/R is naive they're still missing the best rider
  17. "When we had Ben Barker in the Premier League he was taking home £1,200 for every meeting." I can see both sides to this, but only to a certain extent. I appreciate a promotion being of the viewpoint of speculate to accumulate and the attraction of Barker to Plymouth at the time is obvious, but……it would have been known before a wheal was turned that season that Barker would (supposedly) be taking that ammount home from every meeting so if it was that big an issue…..don’t sign him, don’t sign him and don’t inflate the average price of rider across the entire league if it isn’t sustainable. More importantly don’t sign a rider and then bleat about how expensive they were after the event. It is almost positioned in that article as those who I should have sympathy with are Bowden, Plymouth and promoters in general because riders are expensive, well you know what so is a trip to the moon thus I haven’t been there yet. The only sympathy I have is with the fans and riders when clubs end up in the situation Plymouth are currently in, I have very little with the promotions in fact if anything they anger me. In this instance I feel for Barker as that is a total throwing under the bus for no reason. Plymouth were in the Play Offs last year, won lots of meetings etc but it wasn’t worth an absolute sod to anyone if it wasn’t sustainable. That’s twice in recent years clubs (Plymouth and Newport) have had great seasons and then went to the wall after it, great, good for them but they have left scorched earth behind for others to clean up and more importantly they have impacted clubs who do run sustainable business models in order to achieve their supposed “success” if it wasn’t for them that Play Off place could have went to a club that might have actually benefited from it
  18. It isn’t a hole though to be fair, it’s an intentionally placed rut that’s there to ensure Wimbourne is the bestest track in the whole wide world, Matt dug it himself don't you know.
  19. It is a poor statement that attempts to distance it’s self from a member club while also laying the issue at other clubs door (needlessly) Belle Vue should have been advised how to act first, a Belle Vue statement then followed by a BSPA statement with commentary of the actions taken by their clubs and the steps that will be taken to stabilise the intro of the new stadium. An “investigation” is little more than lip service, at best it is going to result in punishment for a club who already face an uphill task to solve the reputational damage of the postponement.
  20. Because it's relative rather than a criticism in 10 years time Cook will be 38, for a rider that's old and the chances are he will be on the downward spirals, more than like retired while Garritty will be entering his late 20s, generally the peak of s riders powers. it's all well and good referencing guys like Hancock and how he is 45, so is Mark Loram, Leigh Adams and Jason Crump guys who have been retired for years
  21. The water mark for a team GB rider isn’t very high, as a general point “won’t make team GB” is an utter straw man of an argument just now in relation to Newman or Garrity. Harris and Nicholls are getting on in their careers and Cook isn’t exactly a Spring Chicken either. It is likely that Woffinden and Lambert will be the only two riders who are regularly nailed on for Team GB race jackets in a few years time, after that there is a much of a muchness re Garrity, Newman, Worral and Co, if you were ranking it is as a % chance of these guys representing team GB it would be pretty high, even higher if there was any kind of change to the SWC format. Who are the riders that are going to stop them? A 30 year old plus Danny King or Kennet? To put even further context on it, if Garrity has a decent season this year it isn’t entirely out of the question he could make the squad given he is arguably the country’s 6 or 7th best rider and a better rider than someone like Cook was at the same age.
