I don’t think it is out of the question to assume Harris would have scored more than 3 in all honesty - Lambert rode better than his score suggests I will admit that but it is still 3 points, Cook a ride apart though was pretty poor, it feels like an opportunity missed IMO, irrespective of how the joker played out, who knows, with riders scoring more than 3 or 5 maybe you just lead the meeting and don’t need a joker.

I am not entirely sure Rosco did get it spot on – I appreciate some will say a silver medal says otherwise but 13 points from 3 riders is a pretty poor contribution. The lowest of any second place team in recent memory, by a considerable distance. It isn’t that outlandish a statement to say Britain could have won that if other choices had been taken.

Hard not to think might have got a bit more if Harris had been in the team. -
Speedway's Twisted Mentality...

As good a meeting as you're likely to see, some spend it moaning about wet tracks... Yip definatley all about improving things.. -
That's some shout....

I don’t think there has been anything magical about Poole’s talent spotting, nor should there be really they have the biggest budget so why shouldn’t they sign riders who are seen as “sure things” or as close to a sure thing as you are likely to get, which both Holder and Kurtz were. It was well known from an early age both were highly rated. It probably surprises me more that with the budget they have missed out on riders of the ability of Fricke or ended up having to pay such an excessive fee for Ward as both were equally as rated from an early age.

That you either saw live or on video. The one that will always come to mind for me first is Mark Simmonds around the 3rd and 4th bend at Exeter when he was catapulted the best part of 20 feet in the air (that isn’t exaggerated for effect), Bird had a pretty comparable crash. A couple on TV, Ermolenko and Bunyan at Wolverhampton when Ermolenko was nearly decapitated by the fence, would have been horrific Crump and I am tempted to say Gollob (might be wrong) in Sweeden at GP heading into the 3rd bend the two bikes hooked up and increased in speed heading into the air fence, could have been the first high profile air fence crash I saw now that I think of it (although mind might be playing tricks) actually think Crump went on to win that meeting.

Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?
sparkafag replied to John Leslie's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Why? USA literally qualified for the event and haven’t done anything wrong. -
Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?

“Typical of Greg” said Lance King according to Peter Oakes, unless that is a thinly veiled dig I fail to see how that as a compliment. He has led his team into a slaughtering tonight and any young kid he has given a chance will be mauled by the standard of rider on show. -
Speedway's Twisted Mentality...
sparkafag replied to Gresham's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Personally, I am not that interested in seeing speedway riders race on rain effected tracks even if they have a bike to suit a rain effected track The mentality that went on for years off “get a meeting on” irrespective of the conditions went some way to damaging the sport IMO, in particularly meetings on Sky watching riders follow each other around the track upright on one dry line, nah, absolutely rubbish and short changing people. In short, it’s not a water sport. -
If Harris was on a decent bit of machinery would he not just tinker with it, muck about, change mechanics and then end up back at Square 1? Is that not a massive part of the problem? It is oft levelled as a critique at the likes of Woffinden and previously Pedersen and Rickardson that they managed to board themselves on “super-fast machinery” for me that’s just part of the game, the edge, the elements that build a World Champion. It is being able to create that network around you that ensures you can perform at the peak of your powers. I always think the riders who end up on the fastest bikes must be able to communicate better and make better decisions, quicker decisions and more definitive decisions with their pit crew re how the bike should be set

I think an Australian has a point re the host nation being seeded to the Final, it isn’t like it is ever going to be held in Australia and under normal circumstances it is pretty unlikely either Czech or Team GB would make the Final -

Sounds like a programme you are looking for. -
That’s a view you are imposing on people, but if they were of that mind set it is probably the reason why some are now strongly of the mind set to use statements like “f*ck what other people think".

You really can't get a lower validation than a man who's advocating shooting children...
-
Really though….can you really get uppity and claim any kind of moral high ground when you use terms like “mental issues” in a derogatory way….is that really the best thing to throw around when you’re trying to condemn the actions of others……hmmm
-
Yeah, missing the point, not reading correctly etc and so on.

Fight – take part in in a violent struggle involving the exchange of physical blows or the use of weapons No one is “fighting” with you here, and haven’t on any other thread on this forum but…if you post vast nonsensical sweeping statements people will reply….that’s the entire nature of the beast of a forum, just accept that and make a logical point back rather than constantly throwing tantrums….it’s so petulant. It evidently isn’t “the norm” to carry a programme board, but people are at a Sporting event they aren’t just walking down the street…. Just as it isn’t the norm for fans of Welsh Rugby to wear Dafodils on their head each day, fans of Cricket to wave cards with “4” and “6”, Darts fans to scream 180 every other minute, Football fans to scream “penalty” if someone falls in work. The notion that you regularly see people with t-shirts with their favourite rider across it died out years ago, literally years, just as Wulf Sport jackets did, you might see the odd one or two but that is about it – certainly not the same number of fans who you will see at a game of football wearing colours to represent the team they are supporting yet other sports don’t carry any kind of “geek” stigma that you are attempting to attach based on a fan showing the team they support. Ow and by the way parts of this post were told to me by someone, a newbie mentioned the Dafodil thing and I overheard the bit about the Wulf Sport jackets so that means everything I have said is totally loads more valid and truer than anything you say and if you dare and I mean DARE say anything other than that or reply, it means you are fighting me, literally kicking and scratching me Ow and re Speedway trying to align it's self with other big sports, it's really not, it is muck cheap in all honesty, the prices of things like the GP, World Cup and most league meetings is filth cheap when compared to most other bespoke events held by "big sports".

How? -
So specifically people from Wales and Rugby fans mocking fans of other sports attire while at an even? That is what you are saying? And fans of Cricket? Specifically fans of both sports commenting on how people dress at sporting events?

British Gp & Swc At Cardiff Tie In.
sparkafag replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It would dilute the spectacle of the Grand Prix and could possibly lead to lower attendances at both events IMO. As it stands the events being separate and standalone allows the chance to promote them as bespoke events, if done together it would take a bit of the shine away from them. The caveat being if it did work, it leaves fans wanting for far more in the years the WC isn't the follow up event thus possibly thinking they might leave it till the WC is back It also reduces content, means less eyes, sponsors and media coverage for speedway etc and so on. -
So now, despite there being numerous, in fact loads of women in attendance at speedway on a weekly basis it is now “people” who won’t bring their girlfriends…as in numerous people saying it? And yeah, every meeting you go to up and down the country it is newbies commenting on fans attire….”look at him over there in his jeans and t-shirt” and “ew look at him in his jacket”, always heard that, every meeting you go to.

Event 2 Vastervik 26/7/16
sparkafag replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It would be an utter joke (no pun intended) if a rider was ever excluded for “not trying” so the joker could be used, it would defeat the entire concept of the rule
