Was merely stating the browser function to the poster who asked if Ipswich had a pump to pump off flood water from the track, blimey, not everyone knows what stadium /track kit can do....! -

Blimey! Heavy impact to his head, classic T-boning from Lasse Bjerre by the look of it.... Was he concussed as well? -

Who's the track curator at Poole? -
Yea, thanks for the link... :-) I wonder why and how the laydown came about? Did a rider/tuner/mechanic or someone else just think, hmm, wonder what would happen if I did "this" and also, with the frame and other fitments that needed to be done, it could not of been a cheap experiment.... Can't imagine a tuner doing it and saying to a rider, I've made a change that will make you faster, come and give it a try!! or was it a planned project and done in some sort if secrecy.. Were the Hagons instrumental in its development?

Do Ipswich have a bowser? If they do, then they work in reverse as well, they can suck water up as well as spray it out.... -

What's with the Poole track then.......? They don't have stocks or bangers on it do they? From what I've seen on recent Sky visits is the outside, outside is the place to ride late on in the meeting, and I have seen riders almost riding the kickboards after around heat 10, and that's a heart stopping line! It appears to be rutty and bumpy/wavy, this could be the result of water laying in slight dips and softening the base to A point it has started to wear away in the dips, which gradually get deeper, and so attract more laying water, and even more wear. These dips don't fill in well, and will constantly get exposed to rain water, I think the only cure is to level off to the lowest point of the dips and then gradually build the track height back up, a winter project I think.... Just my thoughts. -
Problem with rain radar is it doesn't show light rain very well, it's a well known fact among amateur forecasters that dark blue on a radar image can be annaprop, (false) and there was a huge amount of dark blue on the radar....!!

Perhaps now Birmingham is off, Bet365 will stream from Poole? Not exactly like switching a full Sky Sports Crew and associated equipment is it.....? Just one man and his camcorder.. -

Hmmmm, the weather I fear will win this battle... Forecast is rain/showers for the majority of the day, drying out somewhat around 8pm.. not looking good. -
Just interested in this because of all the regular talk/discussion about uprights being the sports saviour.. A lot of people say they were easier to ride, handled deep dirt better. So who was he and when did it happen... Also, could a lay down be fitted in an upright position ? Obviously some sort of modification would need to be manufactured to assist the silencer down pipe in mating to the engine, what else would need modifications.. When the first (modern day lay down) was fitted, was it just an upright engine swivelled around? Equally, who was the first rider to turn up with the laydown configuration....?

What injuries did he receive and where? Really cannot remember where either....? -
Which bit did you not understand then? The forecast for us was wrong... The track was prepared for rain showers... The track surface was sealed and there was no rain that penetrated the shale (hence shiny surface and puddles)... If the rain had Stopped, the surface water would have been swept off, and then graded, probably wonder wheeled reveal mostly dry shale... Meeting commences, roughly 30-45 minutes after rain stops... It could have been that simple, bit the shower, wasn't a shower, was it, bloody rained till 6pm !!!!!!

Could be Alias no 2,435 no 6 -
The track was prepared with rain in mind, the rainwater lying on the track had not penetrated the shale, rains stops, puddles swept away and graded...Job done, we were not expecting continous rain, just showers, in fact, if it had stopped raining, by heat 7/8, it would have needed watering!!!

Your rain gauge is not working properly, you're supposed to have it outside you know...... Are you a member of any weather forums? There's been nothing but chatter about the rainfall records tumbling for mm per hour!!

Right, after Saturday mornings storms/rain, and Saturday nights storms/rain, in excess of 18,000 gallons of water was pumped from the track and holding tanks.... The forecast for Monday was a fluid forecast that changed several times over the weekend, and was not a guaranteed forecast at any time, and if the track had been only 25 miles as the crow flys to the west or a tad further to the east, we wouldn't be discussing this now, because it was dry! (Ish) You cannot call off meetings based on will it/won't it forecasts, especially when the forecast is so inconclusive, you'd never run a meeting in the UK!! The track was prepared for the possibility of pre meeting rain and in actual fact if the rain had stopped by 3:30 there's every chance there would have been a meeting!!!

Latest weather for Leicester seems to be dry tomorrow until teatime, then light rain followed by heavy showers on Monday evening.... Should be all systems go.. I know that upward of 18,000 Gallons of rain water was pumped out the track tanks and off the track Saturday morning/afternoon and this morning.. Bring on the Pirates, Darcy an' all!!!!
