Yea, thanks for the link... :-) I wonder why and how the laydown came about? Did a rider/tuner/mechanic or someone else just think, hmm, wonder what would happen if I did "this" and also, with the frame and other fitments that needed to be done, it could not of been a cheap experiment.... Can't imagine a tuner doing it and saying to a rider, I've made a change that will make you faster, come and give it a try!! or was it a planned project and done in some sort if secrecy.. Were the Hagons instrumental in its development?

Do Ipswich have a bowser? If they do, then they work in reverse as well, they can suck water up as well as spray it out.... -
Charlie Gjedde Comeback ?
Shale Searcher replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ah, that's probably why... -
Just interested in this because of all the regular talk/discussion about uprights being the sports saviour.. A lot of people say they were easier to ride, handled deep dirt better. So who was he and when did it happen... Also, could a lay down be fitted in an upright position ? Obviously some sort of modification would need to be manufactured to assist the silencer down pipe in mating to the engine, what else would need modifications.. When the first (modern day lay down) was fitted, was it just an upright engine swivelled around? Equally, who was the first rider to turn up with the laydown configuration....?

I think nowadays the air fence takes the brunt of most of the shale, I was under the impression they were introducedto help riders visibility when following other riders and getting filled in by rear wheel roost. When meetings get cancelled or abandoned due to rain, they nearly always quote rider visibility as being one of the reasons as they can't see..... So if air fences keep the majority of the shale on the track and dirt deflectors don't stop wet roost, what is there main function now............?

Another load of fixtures cancelled due to rain, Kings Lynn managed to get a meeting on, even after a huge thunderstorm only an hour and a half to two hours pre tapes.... If they can do it, why can't others......? And don't reel out the old "well it's their track and stadium, because they only had a couple of hours to complete the remedial track work needed.....

This evenings rain is due to arrive in the Ipswich area around 7pm, this is projected rainfall at low resolution.... Is it accurate, yes sometimes, but the margins for error/metrological changes is also a factor.... All it would need for this to be inaccurate is a smallish wind change/pressure change and it may not arrive until 9pm or later........ This is a difficult one to call, might rain, might rain later than modelled... Who'd be a Weather Forecaster!!!!!! PS Poole look like escaping the rain until much later than originally modelled so should be ok.... -
