  1. The difference in admission prices between the Elite League and Premier League, couldn't be any closer! Average EL admission around £17, Premier League around £16... Someone is either over or under charging, and I think it's the Premier League over charging, because it's not ran as a division 2, it's just a seperate league, with its own agenda.. Until they come together and work as a 1st division and 2nd division, neither will survive..
  2. Vince, can you remember in the 70's and 80's before pre cut to fit modern goggle tear-offs were common place, riders used to have a couple of bulldog clips screwed to the helmet peak and they used to cut sheets of stiff, but thinnish perspex squares with creased corners in the clips.... So there was distance between throw away lens and goggles, I seem to remember some riders managing to have half a dozen fresh pieces on per race when wet.. could that method be better for today's wet meetings...???
  3. That looks fine, how's it for movement, do you have armour underneath? I have always liked race suits with black as the base colour, and with sponsors logos on .. What thickness is the hide?
  4. Big Change In Forecast, As Of 18.00 Friday 6th June.. Quite a big downgrade in the storms forecast for Friday overnight and Saturday day/evening... The theta e plume has now arrived, actually it arrived this afternoon and the cold front this evening is now over west/mid Wales.. The implications of these timeing errors are roughly as follows... Elevated storms will nip over from France in the early hours of Saturday morning and will interact with the cold front, big rain events anywhere south of the Midlands, elevated lightning and hail, these will push up the centre of the UK but will probably die out when they hit the Midlands... Now, this will leave in its wake, a trail of post storm crud/claggy cloud cover which whilst it lasts, will inhibit daytime heating, it will eventually burn off and the sunsine will trigger thunderstorms from around midday until mid afternoon for the Midlands, they won't be any where near as heavy, or torrential as previously forecast because of the lack of the earlier inhibition of daytime heating, it should dry out from midafternoon, to leave a mainly dry evening... NOT everyone, will catch a storm/s so there is still hope for Saturday evenings meetings.
  5. More developments regarding this Saturdays appalling weather forecast... Updated 16:30 Thursday 5th June 2014 There may be a saving grace for Central England/East Midlands, possibly a bit larger area... The cold front now looks like it's going to arrive from the south west a tad earlier, so that's rain producing cloud arriving in the real early hours of Saturday morning...... This will effect the intensity of the storms during daylight hours, because the associated rain bearing cloud will inhibit daytime heating, and convection until the actual cold front passes through, then the fun will start, but not as widespread or aggressive as it could of been.. As I said, still a very fluidic forecast, so will update again tomorrow morning (Friday)....
  6. There has to be a solution to the visibility issues....... What about the tear-offs on a roll? At the moment they snag a piece of string/cord and this roll out a fresh piece of clear roll over the goggles.... Work pretty well, but some riders have issues and end up with a trailing scarf of tape flapping behind them.....! Also, when its really wet with mucky spray, the mucky spray seeps between goggles and tear off and laminates a strip of muddy water and you cannot see or clear it... So what about a motorised roll-over system? Like they have on cameras in formula 1 cars? So a constant strip of clear tear off is there?
  7. It may have cleared Glasgow by say 11/12 noon Sunday, and the actual path is not set in stone yet, a cold front moving in through Wales and east through the Midlands on Saturday will complicate and is likely to effect the plumes exact path as it is pulled north, it could end up being forced into the north sea, which would reduce its impact on mainland UK, meaning the worst of the weather would be over Eastern England .. perhaps no direct impact on Southern Scotland.. As I said, details will be firmed up as the data predictions leave F.I and move into real world time....
  8. Met Office just issued a weather warning for the areas mentioned in the post title. Don't know how to add a picture, so here goes... Basically a typical June Plume of very warm and unstable air will track up into the UK overnight Friday into Saturday, resulting an a very wet day for most. The rain will mostly be heavy, prolonged and thundery, with thunderstorms for a lot of areas, the storms will track north through the day and we could see some very large rainfall totals.. There is a little uncertainty in the plume timing and its exact track up through the UK, further info will be made available as the forecast enters real time.
  9. As this was an afternoon meeting, was any remedial work carried out on the track to try and improve the conditions? As this was an afternoon meeting, was any remedial work carried out on the track to try and improve the conditions?
  10. Just wrote a long post ref above, hit the post button and it vanished!!!!
  11. Yup! Boiler suits donned, copious amounts of sawdust spread on the racing line, puddles near kerbs swept down drains, bulldog clip on helmet peak, stacked with plenty of small perspex squares with different corners creased, and off they raced, slower times, but they raced....
  12. There has recently been a couple of manufacturers solely selling made to measure and standard sized Speedway cut leather racesuits, and did not seem over priced, didn't buy any so cannot comment on their quality or serviceability.... Anyone know anybody who's bought/tried them....?
  13. Modern laydown bikes don't handle deep dirt very well, so I have been told on several occasions by riders and ex riders alike..... And the silencers make them even worse.., add in to the mix super light flywheels, slipper pistons and the engines just die in the dirt.......
  14. Lions cubs won this, 47-46, very good meeting, last heat decider after Lions 14 pts up halfway stage... Jon Armstrong, blew away cobwebs scored a 6 tactical ride, beat quality opposition at this level, decent crowd in as well.. Well done to all concerned.......... Hope Alex Wright is ok after trip to hospital..
  15. Lewis Blackbird being kept busy and Adam Ellis
  16. Was the Ryan & Fish crash the one mid track bend 3/4 that also took out 2 airbags? Had only just tuned in and saw that and then my pc crashed as well, so didn't find out who it was...... Looked nasty, but no intent....
  17. Yes, what happened to the rev limiter? weren't they being trialled last season? How did it work? I cannot work out a safe method of limiting revs, surely if you are mid corner and you gave it a bag full of throttle, would the engine splutter and slow causing another bag full of grip which would fire you in a straight line to the fence? if you were flat out and bordering the rev limiter, how would you get the back end to break-out on a very grippy track without the extra burst of acceleration of the rear wheel? Again you end up spearing the air fence! Again!!
  18. I was wondering how long individual rider usage would take to have detrimental effects on the 4 engines, just wondered how long it would be before some riders began to question the "sameness" of the 4 engines, and start complaining they they were no longer the same......!
  19. IF you have 4 engines, made to exactly to the same spec, tolerances and materials, would they perform identically? Also assuming all the settings were identical and the same fuel/oil and plug were theSame. Initially on a test bed, then in identical rolling chassis with the same ignition system, gearing and finally tyres inflated to the same pressures... How long would it be before they started to perform measurably different, if they performed identically up until the "rider" was introduced......
  20. Not sure, would an upright be competitive today? I mean it almost certainly wouldn't be on the big open fast tracks, but places like Eastbourne, Lakeside, Plymouth they just might be.....? Any thoughts.....??
  21. Was merely stating the browser function to the poster who asked if Ipswich had a pump to pump off flood water from the track, blimey, not everyone knows what stadium /track kit can do....!
  22. Blimey! Heavy impact to his head, classic T-boning from Lasse Bjerre by the look of it.... Was he concussed as well?
