  1. As a raker at Leicester s Blackbird Rd in 1983, we were paid £1, a free programme and cup of pits urn tea a the interval!!!!
  2. You are missing the point.... Look at the global companies all over the cars, the race suits, Rolex, Microsoft, Shell, etc... At best these days, on a Speedway bike or race suit is Jim's Autos, or Dave and Karen on bend 1!! The only substantial sponsor in Speedway these days is Monster..
  3. The stadium footprint was/is nowhere near large enough....
  4. Perhaps all the foreign stars will come back to the elite league when they start to age and form deteriorates to a level that rules them out of Polish, Swedish leagues, back to the good old EL and then double down......... Let's have a sneak preview of a PL team in 2020 Shlein Hampel Bachelor N Pedersen C Holder Harris Nicholls Great!!
  5. This also has another hidden agenda for some teams... LETS KEEP THESE TOP DRAFT RESERVES AT RESERVE!! Why promote them up into the 1-5? Dominate all reserves races, and free to use them to replace any 1-5 riders in a meeting!! Upgrade the money via back handers, the brown envelopers....... If you could virtually guarantee to get 20+ points from your reserves, your 1-5 then only need to bag 26 between them to win meetings.... You see where I'm coming from........??
  6. You mean riding on the very edge of their respective abilities? If so, does that mean they ride harder than their skill level and end up in positions on track they shouldn't be? Or because they don't respect the throttle hand? Because constantly falling and getting injured cannot be good for their confidence, or health or bank balance!!
  7. Let hope Auty remains injury free as well, he seems to be a tad fragile. Wonder why some riders Can go while seasons injury free and others seem to be injured all the time.......?
  8. If he stays away all season and comes back in 2016 after having a great season say, with A Polish ave of say 10.00, Sweden 10.50, would he still be on his last UK ave of 7.03 or whatever it is.... Or will it get assesed up?? Just a thought....
  9. What about this ideas as an alternative to the dreaded tactical ride???
  10. I think Blackbird and Clegg/Bates for Leicester......
  11. How about doing away with the TR completely, and replacing it with the "Golden Heat" What's that then I hear you all say? Well, a team 10 points down can nominate any heat between heat 6 and heat 12 inclusive to be a "Golden Heat" rules/points are, well all double, to any of the heats riders, so it also provides jeopardy for the team calling for the heat, either team could benefit, blow up for the losing team as well as providing them with the chance to pull back the score......!! What do you reckon?
  12. So, what was this tactical feature, can't say I have ever come across it before? How did it work, and how far behind (I assume it was for the losing side to use) did you have to be..........??
  13. He got stuck out on a row boat on Poole Harbour, he dropped a paddle, so they called him: Darcy Oared!
  14. Who fits? Shlein? Really cannot think of anyone else that would come, be able to come that is...........
  15. Barrow Boy, see where you're coming from with Leicester not being Lewis Blackbirds favourite track...... My thought process was that having Lewis would benefit us at the away tracks, having a reserve that can score 9+ away (win the 2 res races) and 3 pts from his harder rides would bolster the lower end and maybe give a better option if your 2nd strings not firing?
  16. Wonder if any of the larger Garden Centres/Landscapers and what about some of the large aggregate companies? Would they be interested? And why don't the BSPA employ a sales person? If he was paid on performance, it would be a no lose situation, no sponsors, no pay? Big sponsors, lots of ££££!!
  17. He's been Molly coddled by Ford now and being called: Darcy Veloured! Did you know he never throws anything away and is nicknamed: Darcy Hoard!
  18. He has retired from Speedway and has taken up fencing, so he's changed his name to: Darcy Sword!
  19. If he started to pretend he was Chris Holder, he'd be: Darcy Fraud!!
  20. If he accididently when through "The Fly" splicing machine with Mat Ford, he'd be called: Darcy Maud!
  21. Agree with some of what you say, but, and it's a huge but..... In the 60's, 70's and e80's, reserves were reserves, and I certainly do not remember reserves scoring 10, 12 or 15 point hauls week in week out! That was a development of the 90's and much scorned by true Speedway Supporters, those bloody ringer reserves, that should never ever have been at reserve, shoe horned in on false averages and manipulated....... One of the firsts signs of canker that infected Speedway and made it the sick, bed-ridden sport it is today... Rant over....
  22. Roynon is a nice lad, but in my opinion is to fragile now, and only a crash away from a disaster.... I had forgotten about Cook, so replace Buckowski or Klindt with Cook then.......
  23. So, if the fixtures now allow Saturday Speedway, on non GP weeks, Doyle and wozniak, Stead, Klindt, Buckowski, Blackbird and Clegg... How's that for a slice of fried gold???????
