It said in an earlier post the track would not be wide enough For FIM meetings and parts of the rugby pitch would be removed and track extended to meet FIM regs.. For GP and SWC they will lift part of the rugby pitch like they used to at Wembley... So that is exactly what I said and you replied no! -

So why are the crowds so low...........? -
It's not the riders fault, he wants to ride and earn money, it's the promoters choice....... Stick with an inexperienced young, British lad, or a poor Polish rider, easy.... Get rid of the Brit Kid, keep the Pole, and bring in an old Aussie... Don't worry about the future of British Speedway..... That's what the Elite League is for......!

So, for elite league matches its an Elite League standard track, yes? Then, when holding an FIM meeting, the track dimensions will be altered, (like old Wembley) areas of rugby pitch removed and replaced with bits of temporary track to meet FIM track dimensions, Yes? So no home advantage for Team GB! -

This is true, unfortunately, in origin of the species speak, Speedways DNA is a closer match to Boxing and Snooker than Football and/or Rugby... -
The reason I started this thread was two fold, one to see what everyone thinks about the amount of Speedway Supporters post on here and to gauge support for a new section for people completely new to the sport of Speedway. Sometimes you see a question or two on here that is really basic and sometimes gets shall we say an aggressive answer, because in most people's eyes on hear, it was a question all Speedway fans should know the answer, and it may make the question poster think again about posting, or worse, lose them from the sport.. WHY can't we have a thread for Speedway Newbies??? A place for rudimentary questions and understanding responses? That was it!!

Is or has Speedway gone the way of F1? To fast, fastest car wins etc.... That lot finally realised the sport was past it best, just in time and have made big chan ges including this terms smaller engines, to reduce costs, slow it down so driver skills are back in play... When will Speedway bosses see the light and do the same... If they ever will....?

Hi, I have sent the following message to the forum boss!,let's hope he/she will action the request. Hi, please can you start a new sub section in Speedway news and discussions, we would like it calling "SPEEDWAY, HELP FOR BEGINNERS" It will contain questions from New registrations about all aspects of Speedway. Can it also be pinned please, with the ability to start new topics/threads with it. If you look at my topic started this morning at 03:30, loosely about % of Speedway fans that post/read the BSF you will see the interest this new ideas has already generated. Cheers; Shale Searcher Sent from my HTC One M7

So, who starts a new thread section, this comes under BSF ---> SPEEDWAY ---> SPEEDWAY NEWS & DISCUSSIONS. Then there's a sub topic -----> INJURED RIDERS Do we need another sub section called [sPEEDWAY FOR THE BEGINNER] Then questions can be asked and answered.. hopefully!! Can a moderator start this off?

I was just thinking this evening, most of the stuff posted on this forum looks like it's posted by the same old, same old people most of the time, Including me! I wonder what % of the total number of British Speedway Supporters that actually is? It also makes me wonder what the balance of non posters actually think? There must also be a large number of People/Speedway supporters that read, but don't post, you know, that number quoted that represents guests viewing the forum, but not allowed to post as guests. I wonder why they don't join the forum and post their opinions on British Speedway, perhaps we need to know what % we are of the British Speedway Community........? Perhaps we need to be more welcoming to new posters? I have seen posts by forum "Newbies" perhaps their comments have/were/are not as knowledgeable about Speedway as us hard-core fans, but some of our responses have been downright rude (on occasion) Perhaps we need to be more welcoming ourselves to newbies, if I had visited a Speedway meeting for the first time tonight, didn't understand something, did the "modern thing" and went o nnline for answers, asked a question that the answer is obvious to us, and one of us answers in an acerbic manner, it would probably put them off Speedway for ever? What do you all think?

If we want the top boys back, we have to pay top boy dollar as well, so you have to have decent crowd numbers at a reasonable admission fee, or small crowd and high admission fee.. At the moment with the admission fees as they are, there's not enough full adult paying fans to support more than 1 maybe 2 too riders, except for the likes of Poole, Kings Lynn and maybe Coventry and Leicester. To pay 50 points to a home team, with 3 top dollar boys, 2 second strings and 2 fast track reserves, what's the cost? True cost?

A problem with the one night fits all Speedway clubs is that it won't....... Dogs, Stock Cars, Rugby, Football, Bangers are all present at some clubs, so that's not a straightforward option, absolutely tons of ground work will need doing before that could ever be considered..... You only need a track or two with dog racing (landlords) to decide to change or add a race meeting and it'll all fall apart....
-
Although we rememeber these days with mostly fondness, I would take some of today's Speedway stuff and add it to those days.. The air fences, modern day helmets and other life protection devices and that's about it I think...... What does that tell us about modern day Speedway racing.....?

In the 1970's and 80's there weren't any 7 rides a match, ringer reserves which has been partially removed this season with the draft system.. Bikes were simpler, cheaper to service, needed less services, however, breakdowns were more common I think, races were not stopped so quickly, if a rider fell, the track staffs main responsibility was to get the bike off the track, and the races continued, shale was dragged back between every race by the track staff, and further spread by tractor grading after EVERY race.. There were second halves to meetings where the heatleaders and second strings competed against each other and the reserves had more races, juniors competed in small mini matches, and after all that, complete novices were allowed out on track!! EEEEEK!! Tracks suffered from less rain-offs, riders cornered later, and race times were slower, guest riders were around, but rare and usually used for injured heat leaders absences only (I think). British Finals were at Brandon, on Sundays, in front of huge, sell outs, with 16 top notch British heat leaders.... Helmet colours kept falling off helmets, and the BELL MOTO 3 was the helmet of choice, and Preston Petty Mini Mudders were the in vogue front mudguards.. Handlebars were Speedway handlebars, you could still get British engines!

Theres Talk about lack of Torque being A Talking point as well...!!

The bikes react differently to how they used to... Especially in heavy dirt, however, tuners have been trying to tune the problem out, but it's not consistent, hence still a problem, not as bad, but still exists.. in my opinion.
