  1. "Russian roulette with the riders" "Heat 10" The "heat 10 to get a result" rule has to be got rid of after this season, it's being used in the wrong way and its detrimental to the sport... If you've had 10 races and a huge thunderstorm arrives and washes the track away after heat 10, then ok, the ref can call it.. But, it should not be used as a shortened form of the meeting....... All meetings should go to ht 15, unless there's an armageddon storm. Calling meetings off in the bygone days wasn't such an issue because usually most of the riders were UK based, weather forecasting was not looked at like it is now... If it rained, generally meetings were called off at the start time! Nobody went off in a complete huff! It was part of the sport, just look at fixture lists off old programmes.. The heat 6 rule was worse for fans as no re-admittance was given free if that heat was even started! We need a modified heat 6 rule... with reduced admission after a heat 6 or later abandonment, and full readmission before heat 6.. Rearranged fixtures were easier to fit in, in pre 90's speedway, riders did not jet set around Europe like they do now, and worse case scenario was a "double header" should this meeting have started, yes.. should it have ended the way it did, no. Abandoned earlier when it was obvious the conditions were not going to improve, or run to its heat 15 conclusion. In my opinion, meetings get called off far to early and with such ease, every effort should be made to run meetings...
  2. Lots of breaks appearing now in the rainband, could be lucky!
  3. Sun now out in Leicester, the rain band is breaking up as it rises over the welsh hills and then hits slightly higher pressure.... What was a solid band of rain is now and will continue to fragment, really lucky people could miss the rain now altogether..... Or get soaked! Perhaps Cov will get the happy medium!!
  4. Hmm, 5 from 5 rides, after a blob in the first reserves race, or was it a R/R outing in ht 1 (Wink!!!)
  5. One brave SOB!!! They look horrible, just showed the pictures to me Mrs, and she nearly gagged!!
  6. Kings Lynn would be ok tomorrow evening? A lot depends on how quickly the low to the north spins out to sea , if it is hampered by the higher pressure to the south east, the big rain could hold off until after dark tomorrow evening for Cov....
  7. Ridiculous statement!! Only 2 and a half rounds completed!!!
  8. I have had a real close encounter with the Gehard GTR engine, it's massively different from a GM and a Jawa, the shape of the exterior is very triangular, it only has very precise yet shallow finning, and the machining after casting is ultra fine, it looks heavier, alot heavier, but it weighs no more than a GM or Jawa.... If it reminded me of any current or prior engine, imagine the old upright 4 valve Jawa? But in a laydown configuration... That's the nearest I can visualise. This could be the breakthrough in bringing down the annual costs of competing in speedway at all levels if the testing and amount of servicing, part replacement, oil changing without loss of performance are true........
  9. PK was on a Gehard GTR engine, looked up to the job, PK was the best Wolves rider on display tonight.... Good for him!
  10. Ok, so Hans attempts this meeting and finds that it doesn't hamper him anywhere near as much as first thought......... Scores 9/10 pts, would he then consider continuing to ride in EL matches, and world cup if seclected? What annoys me is riders who when injured then cherry pick where they ride...! I am not having a go at Hans by the way, he is the utmost professional, but if he goes ok in the European meeting, why should he not continue in other meetings....???
  11. Well, first the weather.... At the moment it is set pretty fair for Saturday, sunny intervals, odd cloudy moment, no rain to speak of in Saturday's forecast for Leicester.. max temp around 15c, be around 13c for meeting duration, wind will be mainly calm, the odd breezy moment.. so no problems there.. 😃 The teams...... Anyone able to insert the Leicester team for this meeting, and/or the Wolves likely line-up then please feel free to add away!!
  12. Not what I have Seen/heard. I also heard that BMW have some input/interest in it as well...
  13. Shouldn't have been all 4 back, shouldn't have been unsatisfactory start or 4th bend bunching!! I was on the inside, Doyle went down in a controlled fashion, he had ran out of room... Janowski was in front at the point of Doyle's get off, no way should Janowski have been excluded, it would of been harsh to exclude Doyle, if the ref had gone by the letter of the law, Doyle should probably have gone.... ref took the least controversial route.....
  14. How did Rory get his injuries, was he ran over? Or did he hit a fence post? There seems to be bad accidents everywhere at the moment, not just in the UK, EVEN in the traditional home of Speedway; Poland! What's going on.....??
  15. So, you were "not told",if you "heard it in passing!" No need for a website with news is there........!! Hmmmmmmmm, a 200+ feet screen!!, where would you start, and yes, it would need to be that high!!!!
  16. I agree flagrag, good riders options that are free and able to commit to a UK EL programme are few and far between.. If you have a gander around the Cov v KL, and the Wolves v Lakeside threads it's been a complete nightmare with regards to teams having full strength 1-7's Wolves had Baby Bjerre guesting as a 3rd heat leader, and Lakeside, well they were worse off than us!!!!!!!! The current schedule of European speedway, with riders riding in multiple Countries, for multiple teams is nigh on unsustainable, with the liklehood of riders getting injured meaning 3 clubs being then short of a rider! Something has to change, and quick, quite what I don't know... Could the powers that be limit riders to a maximum of representing 2 clubs? In any country, so once you'd signed for say Stal Gorzow and say Leicester, that would be that? If you then wanted to ride for Smederna, you would have to drop one of the others...? (Reduce the overall amount of meetings ridden to reduce the chance of injury/burnout) or would we then be short of quality riders to go around in all countries?
  17. To be fair, I have ridden BP, and even at my speed/level, the sun does temporarily blind you.. If it was the same level of brightness in your vision, all the way round, you could perhaps cater for it with tinted visors, but it's not and it goes from virtual shade to intense dazzle, and back to shade in less than a second, and it temporarily blinds You on that bend 3 & 4... And it started as a problem higher up in the sky this afternoon/evening because it was so dull to start with, if it had been a typical summer day, with cloudless skys, the change in brightness would have been less drastic.. But even a "sun shield" would need to be 100 feet high on days like today! Once the longest day passes, it becomes less of a problem, but until then we're pretty much stuffed!
  18. Can't believe anyone's not mentioned the "sun break"!!!!
  19. Here's wishing Rooboy a quick, but more importantly a full recovery from his back injuries sustained yesterday in Poland.. Rory has been a very loyal servant to British Speedway.
  20. No they are not, just don't have enough home riders to guarantee an announcement...... Blimey, with riders jetsetting around Europe, injuries occurring near enough every night, announcing a 1-7 must be the hardest task in league speedway these days... Did any riders get injured in Poland yesterday? Is Janowski lining up for Poole, or did he aggravate his knee....? Is it as bad as announcing top riders and then not delivering, I don't know... You could announce 7 on Friday, and only have 3/4 of them fit come Monday!!!It can't be easy..... Are their any unattached riders registered with the BSPA? Perhaps a small pool of riders that want a way into the British speedway EL could be on some sort of reserve list, perhaps riders who don't want to or can't commit to a full team place and be available to guest for anyone, average permitting..... Don't know if that would/could work... Just popped over the the Cov v KL thread, KL's team decimated overnight due to crashes in Poland yesterday..... Rory out, Kenneth out, so much for announcing your team. Hope Rory is ok, sound a bad un, hope op goes well. He's loyal to UK speedway, I would of hoped the op went well loyal or not. speedy recovery Rory..
  21. Gordon Bennett WW, you don't arf come out with some rubbish.... How is it DH's fault that the British Cycling Club and the football promoter/business pulled out? It was in the middle of a bleeding whopping recession!!! I bet DH wishes he had not gone through the mill to build the speedway, and saved his dosh.. The amount of grief he gets on here, I sometimes wonder why he just doesn't shut it down and say "up yours" to everyone on here that constantly slags him and the speedway off!
