  1. Depending which direction the track is facing, will depend on the size of the problem, also if there's no local hills or tall buildings to aid.. Badly effected tracks could put up some sort of light/glare diffusing barriers.... Probable a natural one with fast growing conifers would be environmentally friendly, or a some large, but discreet hoardings, maybe give the hoardings advertising space away free, if that company pays for the hoardings/s surely theres got to be a permanent solution to these problems......??
  2. No, we couldn't, but Denmark, Poland, et al could and have in the past to save em for the final!!!! That's what everyone's saying!! No depth!! Whoooops!! That is not the post I meant to quote, but I think what I say makes that obvious enough....
  3. Spot on, tints don't work well in speedway, the sudden and dramatic change in the brightness is just as dangerous... Also, visibility out of modern, full-face, off road helmets is nowhere near as good as the old open face helmets had in the old days, not easy to turn your head and dip out the sun without being able to see in front of you!!
  4. Wolves look clear for 90 minutes or so now we've gotten to 8pm..
  5. Perhaps the temporary tracks are not good in the colder weather, inside or outside, both Warsaw and Tampere the weather was damp and cold, you try baking a cake with no heat, it's impossible, and surely, you need the warmth to aid the track to go off.. both were too soft... In my opinion.
  6. It was the quickest way to get to the last page, I was 150 pages behind, but comment and it takes you straight to the end... That's all....
  7. Rider efficiency??? What the blazes does that mean? Pedersen was pretty damn efficient, he won the bl00dy thing! More useless stats.... Why oh why do we need them..
  8. Well, it works both ways...... Dangerous track, risk of injury to riders, meeting abandoned because the riders say it's to dangerous.. Nicki Pedersen suffering from dizziness and groggy after crash earlier in the week, would this cause excess danger to other riders?? My guess it would.. So, he should be withdrawn by officials as being a danger to other riders.. danger is danger, practise what you preach Nicki and withdraw to make the meeting safer........!! Bet he won't be though!
  9. Ok peeps, let's change tac. Thought there was some great racing last night, quite a lot of passing, some riders have bigger balls than others! If you forget all the politics, last night was very entertaining...
  10. Could they get back if they really wanted to? And would they be allowed to ride if they could get back??
  11. Forecast lookin ok now for rest of the day, just an outside chance of a rogue shower early afternoon......
  12. Has this been called off to save paying riders air fares, and not for the benefit of fans? The riders are here tomorrow as well for Lions v Cov, so there's no real air fare saving.... Ridiculous decision so early in the day, especially as the weather forecast is not set in stone this evening.... Rain between 5 and 6pm, then clear....?
  13. They still get played at some tracks, so old is the music!!!!!!
  14. In the olden days, I am talking 1970 to 1980, tracks were graded after every race, not after 4, 7, 11 and 14 like today, yet the main meetings were always done and dusted by 9pm, 9:15 latest, and the gates were opened after heat 10 and anybody could walk in and watch the last couple of races and second half for nowt!!!! Wonder if that would work now......
  15. Perhaps the "rain/waterlogged track" message was the only message they had saved for short notice use and they displayed that just to stop fans travelling until someone could access the system to add the "dangerous conditions etc" message... We are always overly suspicious when it comes to info regarding cancellations, perhaps we ought to cut them a little slack regarding this one.......? Or are the conditions today, no worse than the meeting was ran in the other week when Sky were in town, making the cancellation stick in the throat a touch with consistency issues?
  16. Fond memories for me too from Long Eaton, initially to see the Leicester Lions remix side, Les with his beard!! Got really into speeedway again through those meetings, became a LE regular, was the Long Eaton Supporters Club vice president for a season, produced a A5 magazine briefly, we called it the Supporters Shout!! Anyone out there got a copy of the 2, or maybe 3 of the issues produced...? It was on salmon, white and blue copy paper, typed and photo copied, with a page dedicated to Lions fans who had taken Long Eaton to heart. I reckon there was at least 150/200 who regularly made the trip to home meetings; the page was called "Down the M1" if I remember correctly!! Also, organsided and drove hired mini busses for the away trips, especially enjoyed the "FOURS" trips to the Showground..... Happy Days, and undoubtedly some fantastic speedway, and great new speedway friends!!!
  17. As a ball park figure, how many 4 valve 500cc Speedway engines are in use if ALL were used at the same time, using the table below: Professional Shale Speedway Amateur Speedway Long Track Grass Track Other Speedway Variants Total
  18. I've just dug my Long Eaton Invaders white, blue and red shell suit top out!!!!!
  19. And don't forget Nigel D'eath!! I sponsored him with a tyre for the reward of a go in the mechanics race, I wore Nigels leathers, but Nigels bike developed a problem so I went out on Mark Blackbirds bike instead, ohhh the memories, top notch!!
  20. Yep!! Think Ray Wilson, John Boulger, Dave Jessup, Malcolm Shakespeare, Frank Auffret Norman Storer and Malc Brown were still screaming round Blackbird Road!!!!!!!
  21. Wasn't there also a meeting held at Sheffield? Sealed engines handed out in the pits? Lots of EF'S occured? Do you think that if speedway bikes or at least bikes that were street legal were made by manufacturers of speedway bikes, that speedway would attract a larger "biker" audience? get what I mean? (Exception Jawa)
