  1. Whilst Speedway in the UK is self-governed, nothing will change, except whence the big hitting promotors deem it necessary for the benefit of UK speedway Ltd
  2. 6pm eurosport 2 Repeat 1 hr highlights of Malilla on eurosports 2 in 2 minutes! 14.10
  3. What happened to Nigel D'eath? Another Long Eatoner from the same era as Peter Lloyd??
  4. Club championships in most sports are ran over a season, why should individual championships be different? The old one off world final was about putting 5 good races together on the day, I know you still had to get there, British qualifying, Inc semis and British final, commonwealth final, inter continental final, etc so you had to have some on going form.. I now prefer the GP'S, that's the "Modern Route"....
  5. Just wrote a post, re-read it and deleted it!!!!!!!!!!! It was utter rubbish!
  6. That's not available in the Android phone app, looked everywhere for that sort of option.....
  7. Comparing speedway to any other sport is wrong, like comparing football rules with rugby, Blimey, in rugby you can handle and carry the ball!! how wrong is that!!! Why should it have to be similar? That's part of speedways uniqueness!
  8. Where are these higher quality riders going to come from?
  9. If the weather was in the slightest dodgy, why would they waste £££s with the knowledge they might only get 10 races?
  10. I concur, sky coverage much like live EL this year, sporadic, same teams, poor weather with rain-offs and rain affected results..... Used to be every Monday, with the occasional Wednesday show. Seems like the season never really got going...
  11. I like watching live speedway, I also enjoy watching the GPs on Saturday nights.. If a club had to run against the GPs on A Saturday night, how many would default to staying at home and watching a GP instead of attending their local track, especially if the weather wasn't guaranteed to be 100% dry???
  12. Is there a reason why at speedway tracks the music played is so, well out of date? Lots of 1980s rock anthems and the like.... I suppose the majority of the supporters have that era as their golden era, and recognise and enjoy that more than todays "gangsta rap" type music.. Or is it something to do with "PRS" Does up to date music cost more to play over a stadium tannoy?
  13. Advertising, there just bloody isn't any!!! Promotors don't seem to want to splash ANY cash, no matter how small on advertising, they spend most of the evening trying to get the regular paying punters to advertise in the programmes, sponsor heats etc, yet seem unwilling to fish for new spectators.... They seem content to keep the sport at a level that turns them a break even situation, or the lucky ones turn a small profit without further cash risk.. If they have 1000 attending at £xx.xx they seem to go into some sort of shell.... When I first started going to speedway in the very early 70's, there were adverts in the local paper, just about every bus had a fixture card/s (90cm x 25cm) featuring the next home meeting, Inc relevance, star riders, address, start time, in fact I did start collecting them! Local radio were involved.... It just doesn't happen now.. you either seem to be a speedway nut, or don't even know it exists. And I don't buy into this guests, R/R, tac ride devalue the sport, puts newbies off etc.. Speedway needs new supporters, but speedway seems to only try and attract ex speedway fans, it needs to try and get new ones, and needs to look at completely different areas/media to do it, otherwise you will only find people that are looking for it...
  14. The air ambulances do a wonderful job, they deserve all the help they can get..... Haven't heard any more news on Lewis, they always say no news is good news, here's praying that this really is the case..
  15. Here's hoping for some good news soon for Lewis and his family, he is in the best possible place, thank heaven for the air ambulance and their crew....
  16. Its a mess, when it suits certain teams, it's in the "best interests" of British Speedway.. When it is in the interests of the "new team" on the block, they can go and get f####d!!!
  17. Do you think air fences make riders take more risks? Sort of well if I cop a clanger ere, at least the bouncy castle is there.....?
  18. Not Doyle, the rules are a disgrace!! Only the away team can call for a track inspection.... Shouldn't be home or away teams decision.. But obviously, the ref needs a prompt from somewhere, and it can only really come from the riders that are not happy with the conditions, so what can be done.....???
  19. Doolans a good choice from what is available.... Knows Saddlebow Rd like the back of his hand, is in great form in the PL and has an affinity to the Lions, good for 6/7 pts easily in my book...
  20. Can more than one rider end up off 15 metres in the same race? For example, ht 2, blue gets exc for tapes, goes off 15 metres, in the restaging, white touches tapes, gets exc and also has to go off 15 metres and then yellow/black touches tapes and also gets to go off 15 metres..... Is this possible, and has it ever happened in any British League???
  21. Darcy Ward mentioned only 5 times tonight, and two of the times, only referred to as Ward, so not that bad considering he wasn't in the meeting!!! And yes, I was counting!!!
  22. Rain in the forecast for Wednesday, still uncertain it's severity and duration over east coast area...... update tomorrow morning..
  23. Hmmm, showers on and off morning, drier brighter this afternoon, but could catch a thundery effort if sun gets out for any length of time this late afternoon/evening, bit windy as well....
