If you genuinely think that upping the bikes power to provide less grip, by causing the rear wheel to spin-up more, be able to rotate more freely in the deeper dirt, then why not change the composition/tread depth/pattern of the rear tyres...? That would be a cheaper option long term, surely? SCB, you normally talk pretty eloquently on here, anything you want to add ref the rear wheel speed/grip......?

Ok, this subject in one guise or another crops up on here regularly. However, it's normally on a normal meeting thread that gets derailed by an accident/injury during that meeting which then derails the meeting thread....!! So, let's start with the bikes.. what can, should, could be done to them, without damaging/changing the nature and attractiveness of the dangerous sport that speedway actually is?

Saw one or two of these used last year at the FIM meeting at Leicester, can't remember who had um, Mikkel Bech possibly, it was the U21 round of the.........??

Same here, Sky coverage this year seems more like a "Sky fill-in" programme now, no continuity at all, and sky have moved there trucks when rain has been a problem in the past, remember most of the country being wet one Monday, except for the west Midlands and they moved cameras to wolves the same day!! A long while ago that was though, 2007/2008 ish?? -
There will be rain tomorrow, how fast it pushes through is the difficult thing to forecast... If the Scandi High weakens, then the rain bearing cold front could sweep through quickly and be gone by mid afternoon. The Met Office are playing it tentatively and bringing it through in regular speed, there is a really good chance it will blow through early.... That has a consequence..... Rain (light rain to start with) arrives at Saddlebow Road earlier than the 8pm'ish time it's forecast for now..

Belle Vue -v- Swindon Monday 17th August

That's a good point.... A fit rider has to have a minimum of 3 rides (does he?) If he gets excluded for a tapes or 2 minutes offence, in the last available race that his 3rd race can take place in, what happens then? Is this the cause of the unrest over the Cookgate incident last night.......? -

King's Lynn V Coventry Wed 19th August

The Kings Lynn area is under control from a different weather system, they are under the influence of a Scandinavian blocking high pressure system at the moment. Any wet weather from the Atlantic lows that will be marching in, will be dissipated by the time they get to that particular part of the UK (East Coastal area) -

POKC = PLAY OFF KNOCK-OUT CUP I would imagine...... -
Dad, first meeting, although moving to a house around 700 yards from the stadium was probably the catalyst!! I was around 6, maybe 7 years old, the year was 1970 or 1971... The stadium was Blackbird Road, Leicester.. Originally thought it would be dogs on bikes, as the first visit was for a dogs meeting!!!!

Kings Lynn V Leicester Thurs 13 Aug
Shale Searcher replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I did say on Monday that this weather event would spare Kings Lynn tonight, the only caveat, is if you have an hour or two of late sunshine, that's all that will be needed to break the convective cap and you could get a couple of thunderstorms with there convective heavy rain..... No sun and you could well be ok.... -
Coventry V Leicester Fri 14th August
Shale Searcher replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Regarding Thursday's weather.... What we have is a low pressure system moving up over parts of the UK, it's a very warm, muggy, damp low pressure and will bring with it a lot of rain, and electrical activity (thunderstorms) Now, the route this will take as it judders it's way up is a very fluidic scenario..... 50 miles more to the east and Kings Lynn will be off, but if it tracks the predicted path, Kings Lynn will be ok until around the early hours of Friday Morning....... In my opinion. -
Scunthorpe: Best Speedway Racing In The Uk?
Shale Searcher replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ok, as a neutral, if fans go for good racing over a dominant winning team, why oh why are Scunthorpe "on the brink" of not running next season due to poor home crowds? This is a genuine question, looking for genuine answers/theories as to why this is the situation.......
