King's Lynn V Coventry Wed 19th August
Shale Searcher replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Firstly, I'm not a Coventry or Kings Lynn fan....... Heat 12 James Sargeant did not move before the tapes went up from his 15m handicap, so exclude Garrity for his move on the first corner, rerun with all 3, Garrity exc, Sargeant still off 15m... End of. You absolutely cannot exclude someone for a false start when the race has started, and after you've excluded a rider for a first bend incident! Absolute shocking decision..!!- 388 replies

Shale Searcher replied to Adder's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Could be some light rain around tomorrow evening, from around 5/6pm onwards, however, it will only be light, and of a showery nature.. could get none at all, yet 10 miles down the road could get a shower or two...... -

The rain will get to kings Lynn around 8pm, by then it will have virtually died out as it hits the scandi high, so very light rain, and only falling as showers now.... Should be ok.. -

1970's/1980's The first meeting was usually the last week in March, the season would then close during the last week in October, usually with a friendly or individual meeting, followed by some donkey races or mini bikes for the riders, then the mechanics would have a race or two, then farewells from the riders and finally a firework display.... That's how it used to roll...... -

I think the rain band that is sweeping east across the UK at the moment will fragment further as it moves east and gets influenced by the High pressure over Europe.. Looks to me like Manchester will avoid the heaviest of the rain, and will be no more than light rain by 4pm and gone by 5/5.30pm. Not all is lost on this one...... The Aces to get this one on..... -

Squads (why They Wont Work)
Shale Searcher replied to heathen chemistry's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The squad riders in Poland, Denmark, Sweden can easily get rides in these countries, if they don't get a ride in Poland, they are probably going to get rides in the other 2 countries that week... Those that don't, sign and get a ride or 2 in the UK (because they are good enough) Many many of the riders in the UK are nowhere near good enough to ride abroard! Can you imagine Rob Branford, Simon Lambert or Ben Barker or the other riders at those levels trying to get rides abroard? They are just not good enough... I'm sorry, but squads will not work in the UK, especially not at a level near enough to the Elite League or even Premier League, it really would kill speedway off in the UK, probably for ever as a pro, or semi pro sport.... Something needs to be done, but, after years and years of trying the weakening, dillution, restrictive team building, and constant cost cutting route, perhaps its time to try another way? -

Me neither!! -
If you genuinely think that upping the bikes power to provide less grip, by causing the rear wheel to spin-up more, be able to rotate more freely in the deeper dirt, then why not change the composition/tread depth/pattern of the rear tyres...? That would be a cheaper option long term, surely? SCB, you normally talk pretty eloquently on here, anything you want to add ref the rear wheel speed/grip......?

Ok, this subject in one guise or another crops up on here regularly. However, it's normally on a normal meeting thread that gets derailed by an accident/injury during that meeting which then derails the meeting thread....!! So, let's start with the bikes.. what can, should, could be done to them, without damaging/changing the nature and attractiveness of the dangerous sport that speedway actually is?

Full List Of Sky Sports Live Speedway 2015
Shale Searcher replied to mdmc82's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Same here, Sky coverage this year seems more like a "Sky fill-in" programme now, no continuity at all, and sky have moved there trucks when rain has been a problem in the past, remember most of the country being wet one Monday, except for the west Midlands and they moved cameras to wolves the same day!! A long while ago that was though, 2007/2008 ish?? -
There will be rain tomorrow, how fast it pushes through is the difficult thing to forecast... If the Scandi High weakens, then the rain bearing cold front could sweep through quickly and be gone by mid afternoon. The Met Office are playing it tentatively and bringing it through in regular speed, there is a really good chance it will blow through early.... That has a consequence..... Rain (light rain to start with) arrives at Saddlebow Road earlier than the 8pm'ish time it's forecast for now..

Belle Vue -v- Swindon Monday 17th August
Shale Searcher replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's a good point.... A fit rider has to have a minimum of 3 rides (does he?) If he gets excluded for a tapes or 2 minutes offence, in the last available race that his 3rd race can take place in, what happens then? Is this the cause of the unrest over the Cookgate incident last night.......? -

The Kings Lynn area is under control from a different weather system, they are under the influence of a Scandinavian blocking high pressure system at the moment. Any wet weather from the Atlantic lows that will be marching in, will be dissipated by the time they get to that particular part of the UK (East Coastal area)
