  1. Weather for Friday is now set fair, will be under or just about under a weather settling high pressure area. So, cold nights, and reasonably warm, dry days around 15c/16c around race time.... 😃 Monday's forecast is still in the meterological F.I (Fantasy Island) to far away to forecast accurately.....
  2. I wasn't having a go at Coventry, but what about other sports that get affected by weather? What's the call off conditions for Cricket, Golf, tennis, etc.... I suppose these other sports are not so rigorously timed? I mean they have a larger window as to when the sport being contested can be played/ran.. for example a 7 hour, 50 over a side cricket match can be cut down to 10 overs a side and completed in the last hour of its scheduled time, but that's about the only sport sky cover that can have the game/match conditions changed so drastically? They don't cut down tennis, football, rugby, do they, and they don't get any hassle off sky? Or do they??
  3. Now I realise we will eventually cop some heavy rain this evening, round a bout what would be a race meeting start time, my point is, the forecast was wrong, in fact very wrong and if a meeting had been scheduled for noon today and cancelled 2 days ago based on the forecast, we would have not had speedway on a fine day.... 4. Now today is a fine example about trusting the weather forecast.. Right, now it should have been piddling down across most if not all the west/east Midlands, really heavy heavy rain, followed by heavy thundery showers or thunderstorms..... Well, where the devil is it?? Well I can tell you it's all a lot further south due to an erronious weather forecast, due to the met office and other European weather organisations expensive computer weather modelling software not doing a very good job with this really complex weather patterns we have this week. Which includes a dying tropical storm called Henri.. It may still get us later, but the driver, a Low pressure area instead of moving east through the south of the UK, has not deviated and has headed due east through France. This only changed this morning and therefore calling meetings off a whole 2 days in advance based on a forecast is ludricous and doesn't do the sports credibility any favours whatsoever..
  5. Is this a new attempt by Billy Hamill, I thought he had a go at this a few years ago, backed by "JOKER MACHINE" ??
  6. Weather Check.. Well at least "Henri" will have left the UK by Friday, but it'll have left a legacy of unstable, moist and disturbed weather in its wake.... Friday is looking wet early on, quite a lot of rain for the Midlands early doors, but, it'll clear to showers early afternoon, with some blustery, watery sunshine.. Should be ok if they can pack the track hard before Friday, weather permitting of course...
  7. Any news on Bomber? As long as he hasn't bust anything and not suffered a concussion, he'll ride, even if he has to be lifted onto his machine!! After all, he is "Mr Play-Offs" Always gives 200% Good luck Bomber!!
  8. A lot of the showers have electrified as they moved through the east Midlands, tornado sighted in Leicester at some point this afternoon... Calmed down a tad now, the heavy stuff transferring north east, but then veering west around Grantham/ Lincoln/Scunny..... Manchester now in the firing line....
  9. Yes, I know, but we've always had rain, it's not a new phenomenon, what's got into speedway..... It's a summer sport, but summer is renowned for heavy rain storms, never used to get rain offs 2 days before!!!
  10. I know that, just can't get my head how we've always had wet meetings, yet just lately, it seems as though the whole speedway scene has suddenly turned into sugar, the first drop of rain in the forecast and we are doomed!!! Can't get wet, we'll all melt!! Just dissapointed that no effort has been made to get this meeting on, if it's skys call, then that is just plain and simply wrong.....
  11. A drying breeze, a good trackman, should be able to cope with today....
  12. Rain radar not so convinced that no rain will fall until 11pm...... We shall have to see....
  13. The rain arrived around 4/4.30 this morning and is due to clear to showers around 10/11am. Brandon could end up catching all the showers this afternoon and evening or none of them... I'm not saying it's the wrong call, just to early... Speedway has been ridden in all sorts of weather over the years, it's just now it seems it's a sunshine only sport, unless it's absolutely spot-on, sky aren't interested....
  14. The semi final qualifying scores were probably the highest I have ever seen in a GP in its current format. Poor Janowski missing out on 9 points! Sometimes 7 gets you in.... What is the lowest score from 5 rides that could get you a semi final, and what technically is the highest non qualifying score possible, are these known quantities? I am sure I have seen a 6 get in before, never remember a 9 not qualifying.......
  15. Nothing changed except it was British lads scoring 9,11, 15 points from reserve, instead of foreign ringers!! So it was better...?
  16. The weather for Monday is not such a wash-out as it was 24 hours ago.... Trying to forecast T100 is a very loose prediction, to get a reasonably accurate forecast, T24/T36 is much more accurate.... (T) hours to forecast time...
  17. So, the fact that it was a bank holiday fixture, rained off and hastily rearranged for 3 days later, on a school night, had no bearing on the size of the crowd? Blimey!! Even track staff were at a premium because it was rearranged for the Thursday, for God's sake!! Unbelievable....!!
  18. To be fair, the way you say costs around £60 means you can't afford to go on a regular basis, is not a problem unique to Leicester.. if you lived roughly the same distance from any Elite League circuit the "nights cost" would be roughly the same... This is a speedway issue, not A Leicester Speedway issue.. The racing at BP is improving, as the banking increases, the depth and density of the racing surface beds and settles and also gets a fair bit of rubber granules mixed in. However, it could be so much better, but I think Leicesters place is in the Elite League, or the top division, whatever it's called...
  19. Not really wanting to go off topic, but a comment on Filip Sitera earlier said he'd received severe injuries earlier in the season on this thread? Any more info on his recovery? And yes, cov could do Sith s signing, R/R risky, especially with dodgy conditions (potentially) with Autumn virtually on us...
  20. Can I listen to Wolves v Lions on a dab radio? If I can, where will I find it?
  21. Doh!! Speed against wheelspin makes more sense... Finding the optimum top end straight line speed, whilst still being able to get out the gate and to the first corner first without killing the motor...
  22. "GPS" for "racing lines" Is GPS really that sensitive? A metre left, metre right? Surely can't be that sensitive?
