No Loyality To British Riders
Shale Searcher replied to HAMMER180's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If Poland pays its riders so well, why do they need to protect it?? Riders will choose Poland on the basis of the pay they can get... Or is there another reason that we don't know of yet? Pay bubble bursting, maybe late payments, and riders would choose to drop Poland because of payment issues, now can't quit, no, not quit, but choose a British fixture over a Polish fixture, even if they don't get paid on time..... -
Rewarding a family for a son/daughter getting a 100% attendance at school with free tickets for the transport to Speedway/admission, just won't work now... It descriminates against pupils who don't have a 100% attendance record! And we know that schools cannot use the term "loser" now, it's now PC to say winners and "Runners Up" so everyone would have to be given the prizes....

That was last season, not this season, I know it's months not years, but maturity can and does sometimes just "kick-in"

"White" pudding is currently available as a special in LIDL. Worth a go if you like offal products like black pudding, Haggis, trotters, heart, etc....

Someone mentioned earlier that Fricke might be having visa problems, can anyone elaborate as to the problem and confirm their source for this info?

I'd go with Bates, has matured since he left hooked the Leicester pits wall!!

Fastest Track Speeds
Shale Searcher replied to Skid Sprocket's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Krystoff Kasprzak was clocked at 74mph on back straight at Leicester 3, maybe 4 years ago. It was timed with a speed gun.... -
And at old Leicester (Blackbird Rd) think it was 10p or 15p to transfer from the uncovered terraces to the covered terraces and grandstand.... Again, they used to open the transfer gate after around heat 10, but they always opened the stadium gates around heat 10!! So you could walk in, watch 3 heats of the match, and the whole 2nd half, which had star of the night, which had 3 qualifying races, from which the race winners & the fastest 2nd place contested the final. It also contained 2 reserve races, a 3 heat Lions cubs match.. And then, the novices came out!! old battered bikes, torn black leathers, who screamed round the track, sometimes crashing horrifically!! (They usually stopped after rendering the safety fence unservicable, or the floodlights were turned off!! So, a full night was usually: 13 heat league match 9 or 10 second half races 20 ish minutes of complete novices! Very good value. And if you didn't want to pay or couldn't afford it, you could see the last 2 or 3 races from the main match, and the whole 2nd half and novices for free!!! How many new fans were gained from seeing those latter races for free? Something to learn from that?

Team Gb T2day Training
Shale Searcher replied to ashtree123's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Cheaper maybe, but as effective?Probably not.. You drive/get driven to Kings Lynn, ride, drive/driven home... Is not the same as.. Getting to Croatia, booking into hotels, try to eat well, and not upset your stomach.... Ride on a unfamiliar track, material, language issues, then get yourselves back to Blighty.. Ultimately better preperation, experience, than a 2 day jolly on a track you are or should be pretty familiar with.. In my opinion anyway. Still, better than nowt I suppose. -
It's best if you have more than 1 HDMI socket on your tv, if not you can get a HDMI splitter quite cheaply these days, but, make sure it's HDMI in and not an HDMI out, there is a significant difference....
-
Or it might be a bit older, then you need a Dsub cable, like pc to monitor, I have to use this on mine, laptop to LCD Tele, I was early adopter, only has 1 hdmi socket!! Laptop has none!! But, it works well enough, have to carry sound via headphone jack on laptop, to audio-in, on my 5-1 surround sound system!! More cables than local GPO box!!!

Nice one Aces51!!

Perhaps they don't want an (in house) viewing conflict.. CL footie, PL MNF Footie?

All the comments on here relating to "cash" payments to the Premiership, seem to indicate that it's a "ZERO" payment arrangement. Almost like BT are doing GB Premiership Speedway A favour, that being each club in the Premiership will get TV exposure, and the reward is to not lose any sponsor money on the back of losing the Sky Sports exposure.. Perhaps we'll find out the true financials of the BT deal at some stage....

Agree... CP did make some awful announcing errors, rider names, teams rode for, and didn't like any form of coaching..... Bit to me, me, me, & what I like goes.....

I thought he'd already jacked it because of his Isle Of Wight job jobby?

Your 2017 Prem Winners.

Lebedevs is definitely starting on a 7.00 average.. -
I guess you reap what you sow.. Years of downgrading the product, the top league in Speedway (GB) is now on a par as the 2nd league was around the early 2000's Top riders, no longer prepared to ride for peanuts, in comparison to the rich pickings now that can be earned in ex-iron curtain Country of Poland, and in Sweden, Denmark.. What we need to do now is go the whole hog and ditch all foreign riders, and start from scratch again, continually watering down the quality of the product has failed to save Speedway as a "BEST in its class" sport.. Back to basics... Otherwise the sport will be back to the dark ages, and racing in farmers fields...

I used to build model rockets in my 20's, my biggest was named "Big Bertha" and was a two stager... I live near the Western Pub, and could have reached the Holiday Inn with that, including a small payload!!

Your 2017 Table Prediction
Shale Searcher replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You know, the more I look at Rye House, the more I think they'll at least make the play-offs... Won't light any fires, but will be rock solid at home, and could win some vital points away, especially at the smaller tracks.... Play-off Final candidates.... -
Great response SB!!

King's Lynn Stars 2017

Yea, why should we supply training for the young Polish riders... And it won't be cutting our noses off to spite our face, we gain nothing long term for this service..... -
The Goalposts Have Moved So...

James Sargeant was having a spin at Scunthorpe when he found out, an amateur rider consoled him and his mechanic, they didn't know...
