  1. I thought the new track impinges on the old track? How will that work mid-season?
  2. Were Leicester told at the AGM that they had to change race night for the 2016 season?? Were ALL EL teams told not to arrange ANY League fixtures on Saturdays?? If not, the AGM should/could not have actually have surely ended?? This all smells a bit fishy to me... If Leicester were told NOT to arrange EL fixtures on Saturdays, then they should not have been included in the 2016 Elite League, and been offered a place in the PL. But if any other EL teams arranged Saturday fixtures, well, that would show just how corrupt the BSPA are...
  3. So does that mean Kennett and Lawson are to busy for full time Elite League Racing?? And Lakeside prefer Swiderski full time in the team to either Lawson or Kennett? I would think the above scenario is NOT the case, can someone confirm the Lakeside 1-7 and which position/s are to be shared?
  4. It hasn't for a few days now... I had responded to quite a few posts, some quite lengthy answers, but when I tried to "post" to forum, they just would not load up!! I will be surprised if this actually loads... One post was with regards to the Lewis Kerr/Lewis Blackbirds fiasco.. what would have happened to LK if indeed LB had actually come out of retirement? LK would be teamless in the EL until a rider of similar calibre got injured or retired or didn't ride up to his average/ability? Or could any other EL team have just got rid of a ELDR and signed LK?
  5. So you could lose nearly half your team before your team has turned a wheel in anger!! That is just plain nonsense....

  7. Has anyone else had issues with posting/logging on to this forum over the last few days? I have had terrible problems, now working again, at one point I thought I would never get on here again!!! I was unable to logon, unable to post, and the route to contacting admin/forum mod was not working either!!!! Is there a way to contact the forum mods/admin if you are not logged in?? I spent ages trying to find a way/email/link, but nothing worked because I wasn't logged in!!!!
  8. Turns 1 & turn 2 are marked out with orange cones, they are hidden by the unseasonaly long grass, and its to wet to mow it.... The centre green is pretty much waterlogged with visible laying water.. On Monday, we pumped nigh on 15,000 gallons of water off the track and out the storage tanks..
  9. Simon Stead would also miss quite a few matches whilst riding for his parent club Sheffield, really need to avoid any more DU riders if at all possible.. I know we are struggling to find anyone at present, but it strikes me as to why no other EL club has snapped up Steady..

  12. You are correct, unfortunately, UK speedway seems to be a closed shop, or a staff shop, and only it's members and paymasters see it, and its really difficult to become a paymaster or member!!
  13. Same with the Leicester Mercury, used to be a good read when it was an afternoon rag, when it went to a morning rag, most of the news was at least 12+ hours old!! No use to man nor beast with all the instant news media available now...
  14. Well, top end riders are definitely in short supply, this I would imagine gives them quite a bargaining edge.. Leicester - 2 heat Leaders Kings Lynn - 1 heat Leader, and a number 6. Please add any other team shortfalls, riders that are prepared to ride UK Elite League, any other relevant info ref rider shortfalls.
  15. I think Leicester paid Belle Vue the sum of £20,000 for Mark Courtney in the early 1980's!! What do you reckon is its equivalent would be today??

  17. I don't think Ben Barker would put up with ELFTDR Pay!! He isn't cheap apparently.... Not sure what they're called now, so ELFTDR is "ELITE LEAGUE FAST TRACK DRAFTED RIDER" pronounced Elfdor!!

I went to several BLRC'S in the 1970's (late) and 80,s (more) and yes, those meetings and World Championship rounds, Leicesters Golden Gauntlets and similar events UK wide had tremendous fields, and support. That what I was commenting on was not a major individual event. I also have to say, the crowd maketh the meeting, 5,000 can make a dull meeting seem not.
  20. Do riders from foreign leagues (not all of them) that ride here, always? put 100% into their racing when riding over here though.....?? I personally think they don't.
  21. I meant Kevlars, my mistake.... Should have read "replace the leather race suits with Kevlars"
  22. Ok, so put those races in front of a 1300/1500 gate instead of 5000+ with just a scattering of fans on back straight and corners. Take away the Dave Lanning commentary, grass, Ole Olsens interviews with Gary Newbon, replace the race suits with leather, and swap out the uprights for laydowns, and it isn't that much difference to today..
  23. Ok, so Blackbirds Rd, compared to Beaumont Park. Old days, 7.30 or 7.45pm start, 13 races (main meeting) a track grade after every race, then interval, then 7/8 race second half.. then the learners until lights out.. approx 22.00/22.15hrs Now, 7.30 start, 15 race main meeting, a track grade after heats 4, 7, 10 & 14 (usually) inc a 10/15 minute interval after heat 10, (weather permitting) Then a substantial track grade so the MDL riders get a reasonable surface to race on (6 race match) usually riders with 2 on trott, & Thompson Twins have a couple of races between races in the MDL match, so in total 23/24 races in total.. all done by 22.00/22.15hrs What's it like elsewhere?
